ModeratorLOL
My main system boots, but I haven't gone about installing all of the programs and other stuff on it yet. That room is a bit cluster fucked and hard to get to anything at the moment :(.
Well, I think the dev environment is installed and possibly the art program. Need to put in the dev env 'pro' key and copy over project files.
Really need to get that room straightened up and SCIENCE stuff out of the way so I can sit at the computer desk heh.

ModeratorSo I was thinking about one of my blood-filled battle reports. After every battle here, we should show the death counts for each side and total. Maybe save a macabre top ten for player, opponent, and total.

ModeratorSometime, you should send me the list of ~500 officers; I can add on any officers you missed that I think are important. Alternately, I can send the list of officers I used in another project.

ModeratorSO I decided to reread about officer block posts…
Now that I think about it, the ruler should be more than capable of holding a block; that would be his close-knit circle of friends. Aftera ll, even though Tao Qian may have given his crown to Liu Bei, that doesn't stop Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, from being Liu Bei's close friends and confidantes!
We'd have to work out all the advantages and disadvantages to officer blocks; presumably officers can only be in in one block at a time, so if (say) Huang Gai is in Yuan Shu's block, Sun Ce would first have to peel Huang Gai off of YS's block before he could be added to Sun Ce's block.
Later on in the game, ideally the player would have most of his force's important officers in his personal block — thus stifling any rival blocks. Of course, troublesome events (like getting a 7-year-old heir) would greatly weaken the block (either immediately or over time), thus giving Cao Shuang and Sima Yi more leeway to strengthen their own blocks…
…yes, there should be an option to declare a minor the heir. Just because Liu Cong isn't 16 when liu biao dies, that doesn't stop him from existing, and things may go differently. While we're at it, we need to decide how much everyone desires to be ruler (their title, whether they're a relative, whether they're the closest relative, their stats, their desire to rule, how much of a block they have, etc.), as a poor choice can be lots of fun…

ParticipantI would love to see a remake of the first RotK…. I can still spend hours and hours playing that game… even a mod that opens up all the previously unchoosable leaders, or more generals, or more accurate generals… those would be cool changes.

Moderatori'm been debating changing how the generals file works. right now it's in an ini file format, but the ini parser built into the language i'm using doesn't allow multiple (sections) with the same name etc. and yes, i know it should be brackets and not parenthesis, but the forum will eat those bits of text if i use brackets :)
so… for now it's like:
(general0)
name=cao bao
war=9
int=12
chr=11
dob=150
(general1)
etc
and generals are enumerated etc.
if you have multiple (general1)'s then one of them would get ignored. so… it's annoying for devs (er, us).
although, given that there are a folks with identical names from the time period… so it's kinda handy in that it provides an easy way to differentiate them internally. alternatively, if we insist on names being different… could possibly do something like:
(general)
name=taishi ci
asdfadsf
(general)
name=tai shi ci
asdlfkjad
Of course, for dudes whose names were only two characters/glyphs, that would pose a problem.
I don't necessarily have a problem with using enumerated stuff… and already do heh :)
