wrote a tool to convert da's dump into project's ini preferred data style, so provincial map linkage done, yay.
i guess…. displaying who owns what on the map.
—
edit: oy, no flood fill option.
i'll see if there's an option to programitically mask out one bitmap with another in GLB to only the fly generate the province graphics or something
if not, gonna be a lot of grunt work in paintshoppro…
—
found something that is prolly workable o/
—
edit:
ugly as sin, but …. have it just doing single color flood fills and it seems to work just fine. yay.
now…. what's next….
November 13, 2011 at 12:11 am #40742unfyModeratoryup, the dread starts.
time to start coming up with a rudimentary and temporary gui for it… and actually making it fully interactive and … like… a game kinda ? lol
November 13, 2011 at 5:09 am #40743unfyModeratorstuff to the left, just standard display. it's not really sorted or anything and is just… there to show "info goes over here".
that old timey telephone on the right….. i was thinking of something along those lines for the UI.
from a keyboard or joystick point of view…. left / right would rotate through the icons to pick from the family of commands (view / personnel, intl affairs, etc), and the red box of stuff above (sub commands) would change to the different sub commands available.
up / down would choose between the sub commands

from a mouse perspective, i would assume click on the green button, then drag to which icon you wanted, or possibly just clicking directly on it, i dunno.
… i also assume this would be touch friendly.
December 1, 2011 at 11:23 am #40744unfyModeratorbusy busy….
haven't gotten to work on this much lately. still thinkin bout it tho :)
December 1, 2011 at 12:40 pm #40745DragonAtmaModeratorOn a late note…
Give all provinces a stat that determines how useful the random promotes will be; then the multipliers can be (5-75)+(multiplier/4), where the result has a min of 10 and a max of 70 + (multiplier/4).
So it'll range from [(5~75)*(5~75)/100, result capped 10~75] to [(30~100)*(30~100)/100, result capped 10~95]. That stat'll go up gradually every month or every year (presumably it's influenced by province development and population), and goes down with wars & random promote attempts.
This'll probably still need a bit of tinkering, but…

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingJanuary 5, 2012 at 10:53 am #40748sonic.penguinModeratorYou can always take breaks beta-testing the Rise of Ieyasu mod unfy :cactuar:
It should be another week or so before it comes out in beta
January 9, 2012 at 7:21 am #40749Jiang WeiParticipanti wanna beta test lol any way i played the rotk series for awhile now and notices the computer never takes war into account
in rotk6 the computer will only consider lead and troop count unless the big guns like
xiahou dun, guan yu, zhao yun, zhang fei, wei yan, ma chao, huang zhong, jiang wei, deng ai, xiahou yuan, xiahou ba, xu zhu, dian wei, cao ren, zhang he, zhang liao, gan ning, zhou tai, lu bu, hua xiong(oddly), dneg feng, lu xun, ling tong, taishi ci, sima yi, zhuge liang
if the computer has any of them availible for attack or def it will use em but other then that i saw dong zhou pick li ru over gou si and li jue to defend his keep simply cause li ru had higher troop count
also peopl like zhang shao and ma liang are used more often on the firld then as strategist…. this is a problem that shoild be fixed
January 9, 2012 at 4:46 pm #40750DragonAtmaModeratorUnfortunately, the CPU chooses officers somewhat at random in RoTK2.
Specifically, they choose ONLY depending on loyalty and soldier count. If Zhao Yun, Lu Bu, and Yin Mo all have the same loyalty and soldiers, all three are equally likely to be chosen for the army, despite Lu Bu's defection obsession and Yin Mo's horrible 11 war.

As far as horrible officer picks, all ROTK's have this issue. Picking "high troop" low war officers to just charge into battle where they suicide all their troops, granted, increased officer special abilities and the PUK's make this less frustrating but it still occurs.
January 10, 2012 at 4:38 am #40752DragonAtmaModeratorOn the recent ones, they pick officers with high war; the only time they'd pick someone with 60 war is if they're a force with few or no better officers.
Fortunately, it'd be really easy to adopt that; instead of comparing soldiers, compare (war*soldiers) or, better yet, (war*war*soldiers). After all, a 100 war officer with 25 soldiers is about as useful attackwise as a 50 war officer with 100 soldiers.
January 10, 2012 at 8:29 pm #40753sonic.penguinModeratorIn nobunagas ambition, which was kind of like ROTK, having a large amount of troops in one unit was way better than spreading them out. IE; one officer with 100 troops could slaughter 5 officers w/ 20 troops each. It gave no advantage to having lots of officers.
January 10, 2012 at 10:04 pm #40754DragonAtmaModeratorRoTK2 units give and take damage no matter what their size is; therefore, 50 soldiers under Zhao Yun and 50 under Guan Yu takes about as many attacks to wipe out as 100 soldiers under Zhao Yun. They'll inflict about the same number of casualties too.
War ability comes into play, though, so 50 under Zhao Yun and 50 under Liu Chan is little different from 50 under Zhao Yun and nobody else! ;)
So I only split up soldiers if I have a low-war ruler (Hello, Liu Yong!) or have too many high-war generals to give everyone 100 soldiers; 50 each under Guan Yu and Zhao Yun means that I'll be getting twice as many attacks per turn (four times as many considering that both of them can use Simul Attack!) 60-war officers, though, won't be getting soldiers unless all the high-war people have 100 soldiers already or I don't HAVE any high-war people to give soldiers too; Guo Si's mediocre 59 war, for example, is the best of all the officers Li Jue starts with!
And, of course, people like Lu Bu and Wei Yan are assumed to have zero war (when assigning soldiers, anyway) because they are umm… uhhh… members of the tea party? 8O
