ParticipantAll right. I think I’ll pick them up and give em a shot. Thanks for the information!

ParticipantI have never played a Suikoden game and have been thinking about trying them out lately. My question is, do you need to play the first two games before the later ones or does it matter? I can get copies of 3, 4, and 5 fairly easily here in town, and for a decent price, but 1 and 2 are a bit more pricey. 1 is on the PSN and I may try that route for that game but I’m not ready to drop $100+ on 2 at this point in time. I would like to play the PS2 games though if you don’t have to know the stories or anything from the previous 2 games.

ParticipantWell, I did make it to level 50 today and here is what happened when I went to the sage.
EXP before: 1502414
EXP after: 1799998
Level after: 53
Hopefully this helps you out some. I didn’t save it after the sage, so let me know if you need me to try anything else.

ParticipantIt may take some time, but I’ll work on it. I’m not super motivated at the moment to grind out levels but I may do some of that today…we’ll see. I’ll let you know what I find out.

ParticipantWell, I just finished the game! Wow, was that not easy! :-) The final castle was a major bitch. I would say that anything from the first Zhuge fight on is hard enough in difficulty (although the gate right after the 2nd Wei cave wasn’t that hard).
For the first Zhuge fight I used Thwart, Zeal and power pills to win and for the final two Zhuge battles I used Behead to eliminate supporting officers and then whittled away at Zhuge using regular attacks and power pills. I also found the second Longji and that helped out a bit.
For Pang Tong, and the 5 tigers (minus Ma Chao) fight I used Thwart, Zeal, and power pills.
The final castle was the hardest by far (I guess that’s how it’s supposed to be though). I got through them all but it definitely wasn’t easy! I still want to max out my levels (I’ve never actually done the level 51 thing – I always just used up the free level up when I played the game before) but I’ll probably do that later (I have 2 or 3 levels to go). I think I might go back and play the original game now just for a break! It should be a freakin’ cakewalk!
One note on the final battle. Is there a way you could cut down on the enemy banter in the first phase? I don’t remember nearly that much in the original game (of couse there weren’t 5 generals either so they may have talked every turn) and it got REALLY annoying by the time the battle was over. Is there a way to cut the enemy banter down to say 25% or 30% of what it is now? If there’s no way to change it I guess it’s ok but it’d be nice if it was a bit less.

ParticipantWell, I went back to Chengdu and found a second Scimitar there. Is that what you were talking about being the ‘present’ before going into Wu (I think it was #35 on your list)? I also found the "surprise/joke" treasure in Liu Shan’s area (damn dagger…where’s my sword). Actually I have found all of the swords now and the Longji :-) so all is good. If the Scimitar is the Shu treasure, I’ll submit a screenshot to KMA.
Just a question about the Liu Shan area. Is Liu Shan really supposed to be that weak? On all the battles between the Guan Yu/Zhang Fei fight and the 2nd Runan battle, all I had to do was An Sha everyone (except Liu Shan since even though he’s a pansy apparently he can’t be An Shaed) and All-out on Liu Shan and/or the Rebels.
I’ve just beaten Runan and the first gate on the other side of the cave, and really I think the toughest battle so far has been the first one in Wei (the Guan Yu/Zhang Fei one). I haven’t tried the second fight with Zhuge Liang yet but I have a few ideas as to what I’m going to do. I am almost thinking it will be easiest to An Sha all of his supporting generals and then take out Zhuge. He doesn’t have Revive in this one which makes it oh so much nicer. It should still be tough though. We’ll see how it goes.
