ParticipantWell, I went back to Chengdu and found a second Scimitar there. Is that what you were talking about? I also found the "surprise/joke" treasure in Liu Shan’s area. If the Scimitar is the treasure, I’ll submit a screenshot to KMA.

ParticipantI haven’t got much farther on the ROM since I last posted but I did find two of the new hidden treasures (#s 38 and 39) on your secret items list. I submitted them to KMA this afternoon. :-) I may try to find some of the other ones later but I was pretty sure I knew where those two were so I knocked them out today. I really like the new items thing and I think it’s pretty cool that you can do that with the ROM!

ParticipantI have played the older ones but I still keep coming back to 9 and 10. I beat 1 on the GBA and I’ve beat VI and VII as well. I’ve played all of them but still haven’t made it through 2, 3, 4, 5, or 8….I will someday though.

ParticipantThis has always been a tough one for me…I think it’s a toss up between IX and X with IX edging out X. I really liked XII but I don’t think I liked it better than IX or X. FFIX was the first one I ever played and the one I keep coming back to so I think it wins.

ParticipantI finished Wu last night/today and have barely scratched Wei at this point. I do think Cao Pi is fine. His troop count continues to look familiar to me. In Wu, Thwart ruled. Throughout Wu, a combination of Thwart, Zeal, Inferno, Deluge, and Power Pills got me through most battles. The only battles I really struggled on were Wu Castle and the final portion of Jian Ye castle. It took me a couple of tries on both of them but once I got rid of Sun Ce and Cheng Pu (Wu) (at least I think it was Cheng Pu…it may have been another general) and Sun Quan and Lu Meng (Jian Ye) they really weren’t that bad. At Jian Ye I did have to retreat after the first phase though.
I am at the moment trying to think up a strategy for the Guan Yu/Zhang Fei Castle in Wei. I tried An Sha but after wasting all my TP on it with Sima Yi, I am assuming that Guan Yu is Un-An Sha-able. I may try it still and see if I can take out Guan Yu with Zeal and Power Pills but my gut is telling me that Thwart is going to be the best bet on this battle. I’ll guess I still have Doubt so I could use that on Zhang Fei while I pummel Guan Yu….that COULD work.
Oh and I managed to run into Zuo Ci. I saw 2000 some troops and I was like, psh, I can knock this guy out in my sleep……. derrr, nope! Even with that few of troops the guy’s fairly well set! Did you do something different to his defense? I saw that he had 255 defense but I didn’t think that alone would drop my attacks to taking 2-3 troops per turn, so I’m just wondering if you did something else to his defense.

ParticipantI wasn’t able to get around to playing the game yesterday but I’ve delved into Wu a little bit tonight. The only thing I’ve noticed so far is that it seems there might still be a problem with Cao Pi’s leveling. He has around 4400 troops while my lowest fighter (Xu Huang) has around 2400. Maybe it’s ok still but I don’t remember that large of a gap at this point in the game. Just thought I’d mention it.
I am currently at the Zhou Yu/Zhuge Liang/Zhang Fei gate and I am thinking of how to beat it. I tried it a couple times but what I’ve been trying up to this point I don’t think is going to work for this battle. I am going to work up to Ce Mian I think and give it a shot then.
Edit: Actually I just gained a level and Cao Pi is at 5013 troops which seems like a troop number I remember from the original game, so I do think it’s still ok. Disregard the first part of this post.

ParticipantWell, I haven’t started Wu yet but what I used most of the time in Shu was a combination of Evade, Zeal, and Power Pills. I’ve gotten to the place where Power Pills are affordable now and that seemed to help out a lot. I also used Behead for one of the Jingzhou defense battles and that seemed to work pretty well. Torrent has also been used a few times, most notably on the Zhang Fei/Zhou Yun battle. I’ll download the new version and start into Wu sometime today. :-)

ParticipantWell, I just finished Shu and defended Jingzhou and I think I’ll pick it back up and start Wu sometime tomorrow. Maybe it was just the tactics I gained in the last few levels but I found Shu to be INCREDIBLY easier than Jingzhou. I don’t think I had to play any fight more than once. Or maybe I’ve just found a method that works and that’s why it seemed easier.

ParticipantHehehe… :-) That was kind of funny. I downloaded the new rom and when I leveled up a minute ago, Cao Pi’s troop count went "up" to around 2500 from about 2700. You said there was a change in Cao Pi’s leveling though, so there it is I guess. :-)

ParticipantWell, I tried using the Battery RAM save from work, and it did work (I had actually tried the save states before and that was what didn’t work), so I don’t have to finish trying to catch up here at home. I still don’t know why the save states would be incompatible but oh well.
I finished Jingzhou today and ended right after fighting Zhang Fei and Zhou Yun (the old final Lu Bu battle). I’d just like to say a major thanks for giving Sima Yi at least 252 Int :D . I really don’t like using the Wan Fu/Revive tactic for healing and now I know he can learn Jin Xian. I was playing a Lu Bu mod a few months ago that someone made on here and the only person I found that had the Int for the tactic was a non-recruitable general (Da Qiao I think)…kind of frustrating. :x
The only weird thing I noticed today had to do with leveling. It’s not big or anything, I just thought it odd. Between levels 21 and 22, I had to gain somewhere around 9000 exp for the next level but between 22 and 23 I only had to gain around 5000. Like I said, it’s hardly worth mentioning but I just thought it was odd since usually your exp requirements go up for each level.
I was also wondering if you had created new leveling schemes at all for this mod. There is currently almost a 1000 troop difference between Cao Pi and Zhang Liao and I don’t remember ever having that large of a gap in the actual game. It also seemed like Dian Wei started out higher at an earlier level than anyone else in the original. Just got me curious. :-)

ParticipantI’ll give it a try tomorrow and see if I can get it to work. If not, I’m catching up pretty quickly on the one I started here at home. Either way, I’ll keep going at it. Thanks for the ideas! :-)
