KeymasterYea Zhuge Liang is right – get .net 2.0 from microsoft and you’re set. That’s really the only thing that you should need to get either working.

So the Pang Tong bug went and got ugly for me too—and few things could have motivated me to figure this out more than having this bug crop up on me so close to the beta release of the Cao Cao edition. After some pretty extensive experimentation I’ve figured out that it is tied to Destiny of an Editor and it is caused by changes in the overall length of officer names (which perhaps translates in the ROM into an adjustment to the length of the officers array). Is it possible that, upon rewriting, the DoaEd program is overwriting something it shouldn’t?
I changed the glitched sprite to a good one by reducing the length of a name. Any reduction or increase in name lengths causes the sprite and sprite color to shift.

ModeratorThat would explain it! Thanks, James. I’ll look into it when I get a chance. A fix should be included in the next release.

ParticipantNo problem, Niahak. :)
If you patch it up remember to have the update fix the sprite too!
And if you see how that sprite is changed share the info. I’m pretty curious!

ModeratorIf I had to guess, I’d say it was the bytes after the officers. There are two-byte pairs that represent certain townspeople, but there aren’t all that many so I can’t say for sure whether all of them are represented.

ParticipantDo you think it is overwriting one of them or something?
Very strange that the sword fellow would be *the* townsman to be altered.

KeymasterYea I think it’s strange with the townsman being a Pang Tong lookalike…. I always felt like changing the names / stats was causing that problem with the Pang Tong at Ling Ling.

ModeratorOn a late note, a future thing for DoaEd could be having a list of the unanshaable and unbilletable officers on the side so people don't have to hunt it down. It'll probably wait until the many more important things are done, though…

KeymasterDoesn't the new DoaEd do that? Have a check-mark for unbilletable / unanshaable officers? 100% sure it does actually as I've altered them easily..

ModeratorWell yes, but I mean a list of all of them at once instead of havign to scroll through the officr list seeing who has a checkmark and whoi doesn't.

KeymasterFair enough. I guess it can be confusing after you've altered them, though I have the normal unbilletable / unanshaable officers memorized at this point.

ParticipantYes, simply put, the Shu guys with special portraits are mostly unbilletable aside from some tigers, and three later bosses are unashaable.

ModeratorIn the standard bgame, yes, but that can (and does) change in mods.

KeymasterFor each Mod I make I have a text file with all the relevant portrait #'s for easy copy / paste switching (I use the older DoaEditor sometimes which allows you to copy paste the whole portrait value). In this text file I also put organize my An Sha / Un Billetable characters so I don't forget.
I suggest a text file like this to have your ROM organized especially if you go months between editing like I tend to do.
