One small request for this one… Would it be possible to make the text box as wide as the usual game text box allows? I think it is 18 characters that it allows before it messes up the box.

I'll add that to the list of stuff-to-do-when-incorporating-text-mode for the 'standard' DoaE.
September 23, 2011 at 2:42 pm #34646sonic.penguinModeratorI got 'unknown key' as well on my windows 7 64-bit. Had to download the text editor separate from the one that came with DOAEditor .94.
Still trying to figure out the proper length of text lines so they don't go off the screen in game.
Also trying to figure out why i keep getting that horrible 'string errors' that corrupt everything.

We can only add so many new words / characters (unless you change existing ones). Maybe James has the limit somewhere, that'd be good knowledge to have.
So anyway, try to use words that you know DoaE has in it's system (words you have seen someone say in the game before or in battle). At the same time, when you do add new words, try to remember them and use them often as if you use the same word from the dictionary that obviously won't add to the total word / character count in DoaE's system.

September 26, 2011 at 3:56 pm #34650Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea, unless we go through in hex and change the item names there is no way to get extra space for words, so we only have the limited 'extended' dictionary for new words that we can use (in addition to what the game already has).

After changing up just a few things that townspeople say I started getting a lot less errors while editing the text.

I was cleaning up some of the battle text so as to get rid of the annoying need to press extra keystrokes and wound up royally messing up the leveling system >_< So had to scrap the adjustments made on that. H
However, I am getting a more updated* version of my mod with better dialogue throughout the game, faster routine processes of battles, cleaned up battle text, some much harder/more interesting battles than the original 2.0 DOAE, and of course surprises :) I will hopefully upload a beta sometime soon if I can figure out how to upload a .rar to the site or have someone help.
