Heh, it worked dude. I grinded a bit before fighting them…but with the Red Dragon I managed to cast Slow on him and then Berserk, though he almost killed me when Berserk ran out. But I won, and beat those damn Ice Dragons too. They really were not too difficult once I had some Crystal gear to minimize the elemental damage. Slowing them helped too I didn’t even need to cast Berserk.
Also just finished Dark Bahamut. Pretty rough at first recovering from Mega Flare but overall I was not that impressed with him. Simple strategy of casting Haste, Slow, and Blink on everyone to evade counter attacks. Now Cecil is mauling everyone with the Ragnarok.
Thanks again for the advice about Berserking Perhong, it did work.

Berserk works on some of them, but not all of them. Generally, though, the monsters which aren’t affected by berserk are vulnerable to either Hold or Stop. Even the Evil Masks are vulnerable to one of them (I can’t remember which) so they are easy to deal with once someone dispels their Reflect. The Fire and Ice beasts are also easier to deal with once you cast Berserk on them.
August 24, 2008 at 4:21 pm #34364Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea the toughest monsters in the Lunar Subterranean were those Dragons the first time I ran into them (or opened their chests). Dark Bahamut was a little trouble at first, but Ogopogo and Plague Horror were pushovers.
Time for Zeromus

Got that Rainbow Pudding for the Namingway questline yet? It took me 1 WEEK even with Treasure hunt, before I got one.

Safe travel makes it so that there will be NO random encounters! So you’ll want to give this to Cecil once you get it, since you can only get in once in your three playthroughs.

August 24, 2008 at 11:41 pm #34368Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterWell that’s neat to know.
Just finished my first playthrough. Can’t believe you can use Slow on Zeromus *shrugs*…could you abuse Slow this bad in the old version? I don’t remember it being so but maybe I just overlooked that strategy. He was pretty easy though, just guarded before Big Bang and that was that.
Not sure when I’ll start another and if I’ll use a second playthrough. Thing is, the game started to get easy for me towards the end… and that was without any prior knowledge about maximizing use of augments, etc. So if I start another quest it may be a fresh one but we’ll see.
Currently pondering what I might play next, though this took a long ass time for me so I wonder how much time I really have to play. Maybe something short like Grandia II…Dragon Quest IV will be here September 16th too I’ll have to get that.

Might be worth it just to take on the two secret bosses? :)
August 25, 2008 at 2:13 pm #34370Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea I read about them but the game has lost my interest a little bit. Drags on too much after you go in the Dark World…
Plus like I said my augments aren’t perfect and I’m sure this special boss requires some nice ones since it’s the only reason to continue playing really.

So that might mean at least two playthroughs to be powerful enough to beat them. Not a good investment of time if you aren’t having fun!
August 25, 2008 at 8:47 pm #34372Perhong_AngtongParticipantAlso, getting all those tail equipment is apparently a +!
