ModeratorI'm actually working on that Zhuge Liang. I'm revamping my mod with the IPS patch + some more difficulty. Currently at Cheng Du in my testing. Will finish up Wu and Wei in the next few days.

ModeratorIt's ok, I did that by accident to one of LYS's posts and he didn't kick me off the boards yet :-P
Gotta be careful with our mod powers… :-)

ParticipantI'm glad you didn't have my head cut off, hopefully things like this won't happen once more.
Again thank you :huohu:

ParticipantQuote:What's the meaning of Zenbuto? Is it likely the same as Zanmato of FFX or something? You know, that's an interesting question, and the answer is even more interesting now that I've put in a few minutes of research :P
Normally I tend to trust the Wizardry series and spin-offs of that series to get their Japanese weaponry right, since those games feature various Eastern-type classes in their rosters (Samurai, Ninja, Monk, Shugenja, Zenmaster, etc
Well, in Dungeon Lords, a heavy polearm called a "Zenbuto" was used, and I figured that would be a better rendering than "Halberd" for the coveted treasure.
There's no Wikipedia article for Zenbuto… not sure where good ol' D.W. Bradley found out about it. However, if such a polearm did exist, I'm guessing it was useful for defeating armored cavalry, because…
Now, when I did a search for Zenbuto, I came up with this slightly different spelling, and a wildly different (and equally cool) weapon:
The Zanbato was a huge katana-type weapon, and it seems it was used as an anti-cavalry device when it was employed (the term literally means "horse-chopping saber"), but was so large that it was not practical for melee.
How's that for a shaky answer? :huohu:

Zanbato information at ninjato.org
The Zanbato was a huge katana-type weapon, and it seems it was used as an anti-cavalry device when it was employed (the term literally means "horse-chopping saber"), but was so large that it was not practical for melee. According to the article, they could be 12 feet long, so that dwarfs a typical no-dachi.

ParticipantAhhh… in other news, I have the separate portion of my site which is dedicated to Ludmeister's Remix.
MiDKnighT, whenever the fancy strikes you, you can change the link on the hacking page. Have I thanked you for all your hard work that you do on this site recently?
I also have a configurable tactic list page, so the changes I've made to the tactics can be easily viewed.

ParticipantThat's fair enough. I can't expect for a better answer :-)
The name itself is a good one indeed :huohu:

ParticipantI just noticed that the Zanbato link in the post above was wrong. Sorry about that, is fixed now.
Also, Zhuge… about the possibility of using Evade/Thwart together… I'm curious about what you think about the costs of those two tactics. Should I bump them up in cost a bit so that this strategy might be employed every now and then, but not relied upon? It's undeniably effective, but prohibitive to keep up both tactics, especially if they keep wearing off, or if a pesky tactician (Sima Yi, to wit) keeps Negating them.

ParticipantHey I like your tactic list page. It has a general view on all of the available tactics, the newcomers will be satisfied with your effort.

So I think bumping up their cost a bit will be quite a good idea to increase the difficulty of the game but even so I guess it'll still be a good strategy to use.
