ParticipantSonic, between your supreme superiority over me in every rom hacking way, and my affliction of playing multiple games all at once… I've been slightly bummed about working on my project. Perhaps when you are done with this one, you can give me some more directed guidance (read, maybe do a little hands on work with me… /sniff). I'm reat with map edits and storyline rendering, as well as balancing and mechanic ideas… the actual technicalities of hacking all of those things in… not so great.

ModeratorHehe, I dont know about superiority, just a little more practice which just comes with time and experimenting. Affliction? hehe, I've been playing doea2 to take screenshots to name the DOAE2 sprites I've made. If you have a question regarding the game I'll do what I can, but everything that I do is merely what is already in the romhacking guide. It just takes time to sit down, read it, try it, fail at it, reread it again, then finally get it :cactuar:

ModeratorSo, opinions are needed. I was going to include characters such as Dong Xi, Jiang Qin, Zhuge Jin, etc, but Wu is already so loaded w/ officers around the time of Sun Ce, that these guys seem almost unneccesary. I do have Sun Jing, Han Dang, Zhu Mao, Chen Wu, and Sun Ben as current early chapter people. That'd be like 2 new people per town and it would be REALLY hard to antiquate someone every town…
Also, Cabalpapa, if you want a suggestion, the way I edit my mods (process wise) is to play them as I edit, this way I get a feel for balancing, character development, and I do some reading as well on Wikipedia to find out what officers/events should come next. They're perfectly fine to use savestates, make your changes, then re-open the new .nes file-> load your save state.

ModeratorPeng, there are two choices:
(1) Stretch out the earlier chapters — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Ce%27s_conquests_in_Jiangdong , for example, can help you pad out the Liu Yao section.
(2) Alter history. It's YOUR game, you can rewrite it so that (say) Yuan Shu — the ruler, of course, not LYS's Yuan Shu 8O — takes an arrow instead of Sun Jian.

ModeratorAlready did that chapter actually, and officers you recruit along the way are Chen Wu, Zhou Tai, Zhou Yu, Zhang Zhao, Taishi Ci, Zhang Hong, Lu Su, Ling Tong through that chapter, and that is not including the first chapter. That chapter actually takes up about 1/4 of the whole map as it is.
MiDKnighT, what memory address can I look at to find the location of sprites in a cave IE: Zhou Cang or a palace IE: Liu Bei on the chair in the palace? 00060 isnt the right thing to find that like it is for placing warps

Moderatorno, for example, Zhou Cang is standing @ location 04 20 0B 02, but it doesnt pull up as such in the hex. I even tried making it C4 20 0B 02, but somehow the caves don't read like regular map coordinates.

ModeratorI think the address is slightly different for ppl like Zhou Cang and Liu Bei because they are facing down. There's a bit in the address that controls that.

0x31AC3 = Song Ren Starting Y1 Position
0x31AC4 = Song Ren Starting Y2 Position
0x31AC5 = Song Ren Starting X1 Position
0x31AC6 = Song Ren Starting X2 Position
0x31AC7 = Song Ren Dialog Line
0x31AC8
0x31AC9 = Song Ren General ID
He is standing at 04 18 0A 18 but we can see that his definition is "04 18 8A 18". Now let's say I change the 8A part. Here's what happens:
0A = Song Ren faces up then starts walking around
1A = Song Ren faces down then starts walking around
2A = Song Ren faces left then starts walking around
3A = Song Ren faces right then starts walking around
4A = Song Ren faces up but is frozen
5A = Song Ren faces down but is frozen
6A = Song Ren faces left but is frozen
7A = Song Ren faces right but is frozen
8A = Song Ren faces up with feet moving (this is how he is by default)
9A = Song Ren faces down with feet moving
AA = Song Ren faces leftwith feet moving
BA = Song Ren faces right with feet moving
CA = Song Ren faces up but is frozen
DA = Song Ren faces down but is frozen
EA = Song Ren faces left but is frozen
FA = Song Ren faces right but is frozen
EDIT: That said, I'm also having trouble finding Liu Bei and Zhou Cang. Maybe they are each part of an array…
