ModeratorBeen playing the Yuan Shao mod, it seems really slow at the start and seems to really drag because I feel like im constantly jamming on the A key, plus the text for 1 word to go to the next paragraph is annoying ie: coins at the end of each battle which I changed in ROLB mod.
There are a few spelling/grammatical/punctuation errors in a few spots, did you change any townspeople dialogue?
Most of the boss battles I just went ALL-out in, but that was just the YT area, am moving into DZ area now. The new portraits are neat although Im not a big fan of the backgrounds.

Yep, I can fix that as soon as DoaEditor supports 512k ROMs.
Quote:There are a few spelling/grammatical/punctuation errors in a few spots, did you change any townspeople dialogue?Oh yes… You'll see. And Tarrot and LYS gave me tons of text to fix. Can fix as soon as DoaEditor supports 512k ROMs.

I'd say the game isn't *that* much harder than the original but difficulty does pick up in chapters 6-8 (although not has hard as Lu Bu mod).
Backgrounds would be tough to fix (ie…would take time). The DOAE2 and DOAE3 portraits had plain backgrounds and you'd have to put new backgrounds in pixel by pixel to fix (ouch) which I actually did for the main guys… Yuan Shao, Yan Liang, Wen Chou, Cao Cao, etc…
Let me know how the next chapters go :)

ModeratorQuote:I had no problem adding in backgrounds for ten officers…Do you have Photoshop? That would help… What did you use?

ModeratorOr better yet you can put backgrounds on all those portrait strips I posted :-P

Moderatorphotoshop would make it much easier as you can use the selection tool to wipe out the background and paste a new background layer behind it.

ModeratorAlthough sometimes it can be good, I had a lot of text swapping issues when I changed the name of a character and it changed every text reference to them. Ie: Sun Ce came in and trounced us @ Luo Yang from Yuan Shu… unless that was intentional
one feature that I was was editable in DOAEditor was when a character becomes recruitable. Ie: after an event such as a death of a leader and/or after a certain battle. I had some issues where certain characters who shouldn't have been recruitable became recruitable after tinkering with some battles/reassigning them.

ModeratorButterflies. I use butterflies.
Seriously, though, I use an old program that you wouldn't be interested in.
In any case, if you want me to make backgrounds for your portrait strips, I have A TASK for you — replace the blank backgrounds with a fifth color (pink works nicely). Then, we can simply copy/paste them over the backgrounds! Also, so I can make sure things look nice, do me a favor and use real colors, not blue/green nonsense.
And keep in mind that Atma has other projects, though, so don't expect them right away…

ModeratorIndeed; I am too busy buying Liu Qi medicine to afford photoshop. :paranoid:

ModeratorThoughts so far, just finished Jing Zhou.
1. "What'd you just say about my momma!? " Was the first thing that came to my mind when entering Yuan Shu territory lol.
2. Powerpills are too cheap for the damage they do. Either raise the price or lower dmg from those crits which just slice generals lives in half.
3. Most boss battles I knock out 1 person or so then just go all-out.
4. So many DOAE 2 portraits made me think of other characters like Zhang Liao -> Hua Xiong was an adjustment for me hehe.
5. Quite a few errors in text, but my favorite line so far is "I am a horse, I don't talk", made me laugh quite a bit.
6. Didnt quite get why our buddies Yong and Ren were in Jing Zhou or why Ju Shou appeared with 200hp around there either hehe
7. Also, didnt realize it, but at some point I started helping Liu Biao?
8. Yan Liang and Wen Chou become essentially obsolete compared with other officers you can recruit after Jing Zhou
Onward to Shu! Your mod has already caused me to give mine a few tweaks, but you're already through Yuan Shao land so you missed out on the fun :) I'm still trying to piece together Sun Jians whole involvement atm even though I just killed him, maybe I will find out…

ModeratorOnto Shu, the Luo castle battle was tough, almost too tough considering tactics available, just ran out of everything, items, TP, HP, lol. Cheng Du was actually easier than Luo.
Found it awkward a guy running up who looks like Lu Bu saying "cao cao killed lu bu"
There wasnt anyone in Shu worth recruiting, kind of a dry-zone for any new faces to add to the party, even though there were all those new faces. No one really "stood out" if you know what I mean.
I see where you were going with re-naming weapons, but I would probably have stuck with something more ROTKish IE; Blue Drgn, Cobra, Fate Swd. etc.
Onto Wu, here we go :)

ModeratorQuote:Didnt quite get why our buddies Yong and Ren were in Jing Zhou or why Ju Shou appeared with 200hp around there either heheThought the Song brothers would be a fun addition to the game. Ju Shou with 200hp. Ya that's a "bug", I'll fix that.
Quote:Also, didnt realize it, but at some point I started helping Liu Biao? I'm still trying to piece together Sun Jians whole involvement atm even though I just killed him, maybe I will find out…The guys in the houses west/southwest of Nan Yang should have told you about the Liu Biao thing. The whole Jing Zhou part is loosely based on the battle of Xiangyang:

Good suggestions on other stuff like power pills. I also like the ROTK sword names. Didn't think of that!
I'm going to go back and make adjustments once DoaEditor can handle my ROM. :)

ModeratorWas actually going to do that in my ROLB mod as well but name changing weapons is kind of at the bottom of the list on figuring things out. Also I didn't really stop by those guys' houses which is probably why I didnt know, just assumed their dialogue would be more or less the same I guess

ModeratorSo far I think Wu is turning out to be a little easier than Shu.
I liked the last line with the blasting powder guy hehe.
Sun Huan picture is messed up. The bottom/6th tile contains the top tile of another picture.
Crossbows are 50,000 and are 20AP less damage than Scimitars. I know they hit twice but…
Anyways, almost done with Wu ;)
