Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterQuote:Cast Life 3 on one of your warriors so if they get An Sha-ed, they are revived immediately. That's essentially "Raise" which you will get later in this mod.
"Raise" is Life 2, to my understanding (ie cast it on a dead dude and he revives 100%). Life 3 is a bit more proactive, but probably a pointless add. Was really only useful in FF6 for that Mage Tower (even then you could win with Palidor's Jump). But I digress…
Quote:I made it tougher to kill Liu Bei where you almost have to give him the treaty. It's not just the agility thing. I ramped up difficulty across the board in this mod.So what did you do to Liu Bei? Make his tactical resistance higher somehow? And what did you do in general for difficulty? I feel like you raised enemy defense a bit.

ModeratorQuote:So what did you do to Liu Bei? Make his tactical resistance higher somehow? All I did for that one was raise his soldier count. He already had 200 defense and 220 INT. Before his soldier count was like 500 so 3 good Ye Huo's could get him but now with 900 soldiers you'd have to hit him with it a lot while surviving his brutal tactics.
Quote:And what did you do in general for difficulty? I feel like you raised enemy defense a bit.Pretty much everything. Tweeked some bad guys' agility, AP, AC, STR, INT and in some cases added some more bad guys to big fights (example: Yellow Turbans instead of Rebel Force in chapter 1). The agility enhancement gave a whole new concept for increasing difficulty. There are some enemy generals who aren't particulary strong and don't have a very high AP but their agility can get you. For example I did that with Bo Cai (in the Ma Yuan Yi spot) and He Yi I think.

ModeratorQuote:example: Yellow Turbans instead of Rebel Force in chapter 1)my thoughts exactly, it just made more sense.
Quote:Ya no longer one-hit kill, one-hit party kill.Lol, go easy on me will ya? You should really try replaying the mod. Lu Bu no longer has the halberd, much to my dismay >.> But there has been a HUGE change to the mod since you tried it at the beginning of the Beta although it doesnt have the 8 tactics enhancement and agility enhancement, that would take way too much time going through it trying to re-balance it.

ModeratorAre you still playing LYS? Wanted to hear your reaction to Yuan Shu's cameo later in the story :)

KeymasterYep, just been going slow. Will be playing more today. I just finished the Spear cave and will go to beat Yuan Shu now. The Ji Ling Zhang Xun battle at Huai Nan was pretty damn tough with Ji Ling's agility dominating.
Yesterday was NFL day, I don't get a lot of gaming done on Sunday's. #GoRavens. My 11-2 1st seed fantasy football team was bested by the 8 seed though I'm kinda pissed.

ModeratorYa I play fantasy football too. My #2 seed might get beat by the #7 seed. I need Brandon Lloyd to put up 100 yards and a TD tonight. Oh, and #GoFalcons.
The Yuan Shu battle should be a challenge with our pal Sun Jian there. Gongsun Yue actually has the highest agility of anyone in that chapter (white riders). Actually as you will see all of the Gongsuns have really high agility because of their lovely white horsies.

KeymasterGood luck with Lloyd. He's good but I think their QB is Brandstander or something? I'm down 78-116 with Hauschka, I'm done. Falcons fan eh? They'll make the playoffs at least. Remember that Ravens @ Falcons epic game last year?
Yuan Shu battle is over. Wasn't that hard. Yan Re / Scorch is pretty over-powered, and the AI suffers in that Yuan Shu battle. Sun Jian is a tough one though. Yuan Shu looks good though, could be a little more potent than 160-170-110 but I'll live with it.
Current party is
Liu Bei
ZhouYu Renming
Zhang Xun
Wen Chou
Yan Liang
*Guo Tu
Party will probably be the same after Liu Bei's betrayal but Guo Tu will be in battle now instead.

ModeratorQuote:Remember that Ravens @ Falcons epic game last year?I remember some Ravens fans being pizzed about Roddy White's game winning TD :) And I wasn't thinking I had to rely on Lloyd much this week. I had Demarco Murray going last night but he broke his ankle. #$#%!!!!!
Let me know how your adventure goes…

KeymasterYea, I don't remember the plays exactly, mostly remember all the BS Steelers calls they get. Didn't Roddy push off or something? Oh well. Too bad about DeMarco, you probably thought for sure you'd be winning heading into last night's game.
Just got Zhang He and I wanted to drop Yan Liang, so I did. Is that going to bite me after the Shu event stuff, where Zhang Fei and Guan Yu leave? (ie if their slots are not in the 'active' party, the game just takes away one of your active characters instead). I think in case I'd just put Yan Liang back in right before that event but maybe you fixed it huohu .
Party is Guo Tu – Wen Chou – Zhang He – *Feng Ji – Lu Bu.

ModeratorYes you can safely remove Yan Liang. The event after Shu won't break anything :)
December 13, 2011 at 5:02 am #37847Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterYea, I just got to ChengDu. I like how you twisted the game at Gui Yang (forcing you to drink) and Cheng Du (another celebration and then just keeps Wen Chou and Yan Liang in the party).
I've been using Wen Chou and irrational amount, because I like his sprite and he's a classic Yuan Shao member. Zhang He has been put on the bench for the same reason Zhao Yun bothers me early on; that irregular soldier growth that starts really low. I'm sure at 245 and 200 I'll put him back in sometime soon here in Wu.
Ju Shou is definitely my favorite guy. Highest agility, 239 INT (best INT in the Jing Zhou / Shu / early Wu for a tactician). 169 STR, a lot better than the other sweet tacticians (Feng Ji and Tian Feng).
I wanted to use Gao Lan, but just couldn't bring myself to do it over the other stellar options. I think Gao Lan and Shen Pei would be more valuable / worthy of using with a high static soldier count (same could be said about Chun Yu Qiong too).

Period in wrong spot huohu

Pirate Force lol…wtf?

Yuan Tan2?! lol I didn't see him in any gate battles in the area.

Toughest battle yet for me so far.

KeymasterHmm, I just got a really good idea for that Guan Yu battle at Wu Ling. What if they were permanently removed / killed by Guan Yu during the battle? That'd be pretty cool to win the battle but afterwards, they are gone. I was kinda hoping that would be the case as Guan Yu kind of alludes to it with the post-battle taunt.
I don't know if that functionality is possible to just have the characters be gone after the battle (without any repercussions, like them being on the Chang Sha / Gui Yang thrones. I assume not though since they aren't as it is in this mod).
EDIT: Just passed the Wu cave. I see Shu officers just as I get in the field. Nice. Remove has made things way too easy with studs like Feng Ji, Ju Shou and Tian Feng casting. Other two characters are Yuan Shang and Zhang Yan, though I'm about to replace Zhang Yan for Zhang He (as Zhang He's once-pathetic soldier count has evened out at this point).

ModeratorAhh more buggies to fix…
Quote:Remove has made things way too easy with studs like Feng Ji, Ju Shou and Tian Feng casting. That's another enhancement idea… (ya I have more enhancement ideas than I have time to implement). We could either:
– Expand the no An Sha list
or
– Make it so that officers above ### INT cannot be An Sha'd.
December 13, 2011 at 4:21 pm #37850Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterBeing able to expand the An Sha list would be nice. What do we have, 9 that can't be An Sha-ed? Most of the Un An Sha-ables I made were in the late Wei part of the game.
That's a great idea about the *** INT cannot be An Sha'ed. 240 should definitely be the limit (which would make sense, being that tacticians at 240 or above INT can't use An Sha). Or maybe 245 is more reasonable. Could be a good poll question.
Well the mod is fun, just got through Guang Zhong Castle in Wei and recruited the guy there.

This was a tough battle, I wasn't expecting to see 5 dudes here.

Just noticed this playing through. That extra section you added (2nd part of Wu, Liu Bei's section) is all fucked with the multiplier for food and gold. I'm pretty much stocked for the rest of the game now.

While we're on the topic of bugs. This is the Wu Ling battle I think, with Shu. Anyway, what happened is that Zhao Yun revived Guan Yu. But instead of Guan Yu reviving, it looks like his backside in the spot ABOVE the top sprite slot lol…when he attacked it said "Pirate Force" and he took off 7. It was really weird, but I wonder if this Pirate Force thing is related to Gongsun Zan talking about Pirate Force after the Yuan Shu Nan Yang battle. Maybe Pirate Force is just the standard spot above the fifth spot on the right, but I don't know why. Will have to see the AI do it some more, maybe when it revives it's top character every time it does that.

lmao…I did this in my mod too, at Wu Ling. You could just walk right by. Nice touch up there by Jian Ye though.

There is my awesome 5-person party. No one with less than 200 INT (or whatever Yuan Shang has, I think it's 200 maybe 210 which would make Zhang He's 200 the lowest). Weak strength-wise. Also, I think Rally should be 30 TP. Too valuable even considering the Ji Cie / Negate possibilities.

ModeratorYikes buggies. I gots lots to fix now. I thought I had fixed that multiplier thing. I guess not… I guess Liu Bei's generals were RICH. Probably got rich off of Huo Hu's powder.
