ModeratorWhy wouldn't they? Just because someone has a higher agi stat than the other two, they could still be a 60/90/40 nobody.

ModeratorQuote:spelling changesArg…these always get me. LYS and another guy found a ton of these as well.
Quote:You need a greater differential in stats between cui jun and cui juye.
These guys are kind of a joke. They make Song Ren and Song Yong look like GODS.
Quote:Perhaps learn protect 1 level sooner as I had to do an awful lot of grinding and I easily beat Zhang Jue w/out Protect by the time I got it in terms of $ and soldier strength. This is a good idea. I had changed Zhang Jue's profile to use flood more but I had not gone back and tested it. I'll swap Haste and Protect.
Quote:The dumb guys have almost no advantage over weak smart guys w/ tactic regeneration now. Ie: Liu Pi vs. Hang Meng… Liu has tactics + can regnerate TP w/ same soldiers, Hang Meng has 0 tactics, can't regenerate TP and has the same soldiers as Liu Pi. Maybe give these 0 tactics and 0 TP regen guys slightly greater soldier counts? Not sure.Every general is different. Han Meng isn't very valuable and can probably be replaced by Liu Pi or Tao Shang at the first opportunity.
Quote:Your soldier bars changed colors to Orange from Pink and they weren't even long…Hmm I'll check on that.
Quote:I had a question though. Can they fail like an Intelligence based tactic? No because they would almost never work for guys like Wen Chou. Arrows/Boulder work all the time but are supposed to be weaker than Flame/Flood. Arrows is AGI based (more AGI = more damage), Boulder is STR based, and Flame/Flood are INT based.

ModeratorTestudo! Testuuuuudo! *cough*
Seriously, though, I stand by my statement that str and agi abilities should be able to fail — especially if the user has low str/agi.

ModeratorAnd btw, thanks sonic and Xu Yuan for giving it a spin. I know sonic knows that when you put so much work into it you want *somebody* to give it a spin and try out the changes.
Hopefully you guys can continue on your quest. Things should get interesting later on…
I'd still like to do more map changes at some point… That part is pretty tedious for me though…

ModeratorChanges made & uploaded. I think the soldier bars were fine… I changed the color of the first one though just to be different.

ModeratorNah, just use the same failure methods for standard tactics… only with a different stat.

ModeratorBah not so easy. Coding would have to be done on a different page, etc… as the original DOAE ROM has no room to breathe in the original code pages. It would probably take me about half an hour to an hour to do. I will do it. I'm just afraid it will unbalance the mod after I tested it all the way through…

ModeratorNo room? Blah!
I suppose we can make do with undodgable tactics, but…
August 24, 2012 at 2:09 pm #37979MiDKnighT
ModeratorThere's probably enough room on page 01. The main concern would be unbalancing the mod though which would require me to do another play through. Maybe on my next major update I'll do this.

ModeratorIf the str/agi tactics are on par with the int tactics and there's no area-based agi gain, then things *should* be balanced…

ModeratorSweet, we're on the front page for the time being:
I also mentioned lordyuanshu.com and kongming.net in the readme and the message board so hopefully we'll get some more DOAE fan traffic.
MB Post: http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,14946.0.html
It would be cool to get some positive reviews there also mentioning other great DOAE roms at lordyuanshu.com and kongming.net to get people playing DOAE (and the mods) more. This is an opportunity to promote DOAE Roms to a wider audience.

ParticipantOh nice! The first page! I got through Zhang Jue and he did use Flood at least once, to my great surprise. I had Protect, but I didn't use it, thinking to just burn him down with Boulder, and a Hasted Yuan Shao. Yeah, that hurt. Once I got rid of him though I dealt with He Yi easily enough and Liu Pi chose to heal himself or normally attack more often than using a tactic. All in all it was a hard fought fight and I Love the Defend change. It does encourage two strategist types in the party though for that purpose. At least when fighting scripted generals.

ModeratorCool – can't wait for you to get into chapter 2 where some heavy "Duel" guys await. :D

ModeratorAwesome! I had my mods posted there but they deleted them b/c they weren't "Patches". Perhaps I should take the 30 seconds and learn how to do that.
