ModeratorYa that's what happened to me the first time around. This time I just made a patch and followed Lud's ROMs readme and such. That seemed to work.
Sonic you should definitely post your ROMs there but wait a week. I want a moment in the sun lol.

ModeratorLiu Bei thinks you're being paranoid…
Bah, no worries, but pulling up the old mod has kept me inspired to keep redoing portraits and to continue updating. It only took about 1 minute but creating the IPS patch is easy.

ModeratorSo I defeated Xu Rong near Luo Yang, and @ the end of the battle he says "Oh no! Yuan Tan. I'm Sun Jian, My friends, Shen Pei and Gao Lan have some information from you, etc"
*What, no Hu Lao Gate!?
*Charge so early, is there ever a need to buy power pills?
*Arrows is really cheap in the TP department for the damage it does and always succesful. My rule of thumb for determining TP use is:
Always successful= + TP
Hit's ALL people= + TP
Huge damage for that point in the game= + Lots of TP

ModeratorBut arrows is one of the weaker ones as far as damage goes. I'll check on the Xu Rong thing.
You may want to buy power pills later as only certain officers have charge. I wanted to introduce duel and charge early for fun :)

ModeratorArrows I was cranking out 70+ dmg x 5 vs. a normal hit of like 30-40. at 3 tp, that's pretty much all I use every turn w/ Wen Chou and Yan Liang. It's fine for damage as long as you up it to like 10 6-7 TP. Also, is it in the RH guide how to make a tactic be based off your physical attack damage like the arrows tactic? I thought Ambush was the only one like that.

ModeratorQuote:Also, is it in the RH guide how to make a tactic be based off your physical attack damage like the arrows tacticArrows has an agility damage bonus. Boulder as a strength damage bonus. How to do that is in the guide with the new level based tactic damage stuff.
I'll change the arrows TP to 5 or so. Don't want to change it too much to mess up re-balancing.

ModeratorBTW did you get to Chang An yet?
August 25, 2012 at 3:05 pm #37992sonic.penguin
ModeratorOkay, I'll check, but I think townspeople should give tutorials on these new tactics.
Also, fix the DEFEND message to be only 1 line! Pressing a button 3 times is annoying. "[OFFICER]
defended and
gained [VALUE] [LVL-SLDR-AMT] TP.[>]
[END]

Moderatoryeah, the gates up to it were easy peasy lemon squeezie, but Luo Yang I think is going to need another level up or so to beat.

ModeratorNevermind, Lu Bu dueled me and lost, it was an easy win >_>
August 25, 2012 at 3:26 pm #37995sonic.penguin
Moderator*Lu Kuang is pretty useless when you get him, despite his high agility, he is inferior to all other officers you have by a mile….
*Arrows is now even stronger… doing like 140 per hit x 5, so maybe make it worth a little more TP
*Chang'An… lol, Bwahahaha! 2pts :P
*If Liu Bei isn't in your party, you won't get the TP bump for learning Negate.

InactiveA few things I've encountered …
* When fighting Sun Jian he seems susceptible to Doubt when Dueling him, maybe place on the no duel list? His battles were fairly easy when he doesn't do anything ;)
* After killing the lead general in a castle battle received exp but 0 coins and food
* Bowmen have a tendency to attack themselves once, then the next bowmen will attack and hit yuan shao's entire army (regular attack, not arrows)
* Arrows do seem a bit overpowered for their low cost and 100% success rate
* In duels when a general is badly injured can their troop count drop? or must be immediately an sha'd?
* When battling generals in open field (sometimes castle) they will use Life or Raise on empty slot in their army to bring a 0 soldier general which sprite starts atop the screen
* Yuan Shang too powerful when compared to his brothers :P I believe the three sons should definitely have high troop count but only average stats
Thanks for the wonderful mod!

ModeratorAh, welcome to the LYS boards Jephraim, or how about we just call you Jeph :P I would agree, Yuan Shang having Zhao Yun stats really brings down the mod to a "cheap" level, and it is part of the challenge having those weaker guys as necessary evils. Granted, I did this in Rise of Lu Bu by giving Lu Bu 150 Intelligence when it should've been like 80, but originally it was like 200+ heh heh.
At any rate, there are some slight balance tweaks it needs atm, but so far I haven't found anything totally broken, except for arrows.

ModeratorThanks for the finds guys. Jephraim welcome to the LYS boards! If your not burned out on Destiny yet sonic and others have some GREAT mods to play as well.

InactiveThanks for the warm welcome. Doubt I will ever get burned out of this game – been playing it since original NES came out and still my favorite game! ;) So all these mods are refreshing especially the new enhancements.
I'm playing the Tyrant Dong Zhuo and thrilled at the new storyline and maps although some of the general portraits lack colors. :( I've longed for a DoaE game where your generals aren't monsters but to get excited when you find someone with a stat over 180! :P
