Moderatorahh, okay, i was trying to keep it as "real" as possible up to the point of getting through Dong Zhuo and so on. I thought of the same thing as well for the intro but doing a story only made sense if I used characters that the player HAD to keep throughout the story. I'll look into seeing what I can do, but the rest of the game might not make much sense :X
Problem with starting characters is you lose them all, which was kind of the issue when i started modding this and made it hard to do the storyline I had in mind.
Keep me posted if you manage to get through any more.

ModeratorI like the minimap idea. Actually, this whole program is starting to remind me a lot of the civilization 3 editor. It included modifications to maps (w/ minimap w/ different sized brushes ie: 1×1/5×5 etc. for mass terrain changes, changes to ai, ai assignments, resource allocation to tiles, city names, combat experience, etc. It was very basic but that UI was very easy to follow and wasn't overtly complex. Maybe you could get some ideas from it for DOAEditor?
Here is a link to some guy doing a demo on the map editing:

Here is another one on editing general game settings, obviously the settings won't be the same and might include lists of DOAE nations Wei, Wu, Shu, etc or may have lists of battles for each or something…:

ModeratorIts the right one, it follows the story of Liu and the gang (very loosely). You'll see why as you play. :)

ModeratorAnd here it is, hope the link works :S
Edit: removed the link :)
Will re-post a new one soon

ModeratorHmm, thanks for checking, but selling them for 65,000 would just totally unbalance the game unless there were a way to reduce money intake or something. Okay, I'll upload it and post the link for beta testing if anyones up for it.

Moderatorah well, looks like im going to have to wait on Niahak then to process my request for pancakes and then item layovers for the map :S
Okay, anyways, who wants to test my mod? And how can i upload it to LYS?

Moderatorahh, dont burst my bubble like that >_<

Moderatorchanging Dadao -> Halberd and price from 65k -> 250k. So both I guess. I figure that by this point in the game, Dadao's don't really do anything compared to the special swords which essentially nerf's their use and shop space. Plus I want to make the game easier for some people :)

ModeratorOkay, so fill me in MidKnight, where can I upload a zip file so that you can help me modify the weapons. Im going to scatch changing portraits around atm. I'm not sure how to work with those .bz files and whatnot, are those linux or something? anyways, i just pieced together some portraits to make extra people, so everyone can use their imagination :) If youd prefer, email me at sonic.penguin@gmail.com and I'll send you you the .nes via that way if you'd prefer. (don't spam me everyone!)

ModeratorManaged to get an unhandled exception when switching from one dialogue box to another in the text editor. I think I had this issue before in .96 and it crashes the program.

Moderatorso far .96a seems more stable than .96, no major crashes or bugs yet… Map editor is much easier to work with now, just gotta discover what was creating warps all over the map with that grass/forest tile.
But don't worry, I'm good at bringing program's to their knees!

ModeratorQuote:* Int/Agi location switchedNooooooooo! hehe, just kidding, actually Im glad because agility being a sort of innate or hidden stat sorta came last in order of importance vs. str and int and thats how it appears in game as well. Thanks.
Been playing with the map tools a little more and they seem to be working okay atm other than that grass/forest issue. Mountain set seems to be a safe bet.
