The Battle of Cheng Du.
NP.
ultramanysParticipantActually, after you beat Kessen II once with Liu Bei, you’ll replay the game all over again, except that you play as Cao Cao.
I finally beated Kessen III 2 months ago. It was hard work, but it was worth it. And yes, Nobunaga was depicted as a more heroic warlord and he did truly loved his wife all the way. So sad that the real Nobunaga wasn’t anywhere near Kessen III’s Nobunaga.
K3, by far, is one of the best I’ve ever played and I highly recommend play the game in the original Jap voiceovers. K3 is the best RTS to ever come out, has been rated 37/40 by Famitsu, Famitsu Weekly’s Platinum Award, and was Japan #1 Video Game Authority.
Too bad that the Americans don’t really have time to play real good RTS games like Kessen III.
ultramanysParticipantIn the duel between Xiahou Dun and Zhao Yun, Zhao Yun said that no more running back and they start to fight. Both Xiahou Dun and Zhao Yun laugh as they fought a great duel and as much as they want to be friends now and in the next life, the duel must end. So both of them finishes the duel with one blow which Xiahou Dun came out as the winning and Zhao Yun dying. Before he died, Zhao Yun said that it was honor to be killed by Xiahou Dun. Xiahou Dun felt emotional and said thank you, Zhao Yun.
And in the ending for blue path, the demon king is in his Dark Warrior(Xuan Wu) secretly planning to recover from his wound when Cao Cao comes barging in. Cao Cao said that it’s all over, but the demon king refuses to submit saying that everyone are just mere mortals and that he is the all powerful demon king, but suddenly he can’t move as Zhuge Liang took the opportunity to kill the weakened Demon King by destroying all of his veins, which the perishing demon king said that he cannot be killed by a mere mortal and he is all that powerful (yeah, right). Then a dying Zhuge Liang comes back into senses talking to a shocked Cao Cao, who said that he has killed the demon king and Cao Cao attempts to heal him, but Zhuge said it’s no use as he has destroyed all of his veins, and that he has betrayed his lord Liu Bei and he’s sorry for it before he dies. Guan Yu then comes in and has apparently heard the dying Zhuge Liang’s last words. Guan Yu was about to kill Zhuge Liang, but instead agreed to have Zhuge Liang buried near Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, as that would’ve been what Zhuge Liang (the good one) had wanted anyway.
The scene goes to a mountain near Wu Zhang Plains a month later. Cao Cao has ordered Xu Shu to go see him. Xu Shu said that has he demolished the altar yet which Cao Cao said yes, but it was delayed due to Zhuge Liang’s funeral. Xu Shu finds a letter written by Zhuge Liang in Jiang Xia and gives it to Cao Cao, which he reads.
The letter was writtened around some time after Chi Bi, which Zhuge Liang begins by that whoever reads this letter, hopefully Xu Shu, Pang Tong, or anybody else able can help him out as he’s feeling that he won’t be living much longer. He’s not afraid of dying, but he fears that he would cause sufferings to others. He begins to talk about the Demon King’s rebellion during 3000 years ago and now he has awaken, now looking for a perfect host. The Demon King originally wanted to possess Liu Bei, but instead possessed Zhuge Liang as Zhuge Liang voluntarily agreed let him take over, not wanting his lord Liu Bei’s heroic image to be tainted. He stated that the SE winds during Chi Bi were the works of the demon king. He has done all he could to fight against the demon king, but eventually will lose control of his body. He hopes that if that does happen, he hopes that whoever’s strong enough will kill him. (Ironically that Cao Cao has weakened him real bad, but in the end, Zhuge Liang killed the demon king).
Cao Cao finishes, stating out of everyone who has suffered, Zhuge Liang suffered the most. Cao Cao then curiously asked why Xu Shu would help the demon king by building the fake Green Dragon (Qing Long) Altar, Xu Shu stated that he knows that the demon king is able to revive the dead, which Cao Cao knew that Xu Shu really had wanted his mother revived. Xu Shu then goes tell this to the remaining Shu officers.
The final scene is at Liu Bei’, Zhuge Liang’ and Zhang Fei’ burial site, where Guan Yu is cleaning it for one last time. Cao Cao comes and pays respect to the deceased. Guan Yu then asks permission from Cao Cao for him to leave as he wanted to realise his brother’s dream, which Cao Cao grants. Later, Xun Yu, Xiahou Dun, Xu Zhu, and Diao Chan comes. Xu Zhu wanted to go back to his home village and continue farming while Diao Chan wants to spread the true meaning of the Yellow Turban teachings (At just before Zhang Lu surrendered to Cao Cao, Diao Chan told Cao Cao that her parents were worshippers of the Yellow Turban teachings.), not the one which led to the Yellow Turban Rebellion, with her two fellow worshippers. Cao Cao grants them to leave and then feels a little sad, which Xun Yu and Xiahou Dun consoles him, telling that they will stay with him forever and there’s work to do. The scene ends after they left the burial site.
That’s how I remembered the blue path ending.
ultramanysParticipantUhh Taishi Ci, you’ve got an error in the guide. Chen Dao joins Shu after the Battle of Ba Xi, not Chen Deng. Chen Deng does not appear in the game.
Battle of Yang Ping Gate (Second Choice):
Is Pang Tong still alive? Yes. Can Pang Tong die if his HP’s reduced to 0? Yes. Should you save him? YES! Why? Because until Zhuge Zhan (Jiang Wei doesn’t really count because he cannot learn any group tactic attacks: big big drawback, but he makes it up with being the only advisor-general on your army with quite decent attack power.) appears, which is about the last 2-3 chapters into the game if Zhuge Liang survives after the Battle of Wu Zhang Plains, Pang Tong is your other advisor unit who has really nice intellect stats. What makes this hard is that Pang Tong and Wei Yan are both Friendly NPCs and you have only Liu Bei, Huang Zhong, and Liu Feng at the village at the north and Zhuge Liang doesn’t arrive until turn 4. If Pang Tong can survive up until turn 5/6, he will survive, definitely. But the other problem is that you have Zhang Ren who will execute the ambush once Pang Tong reaches north by turn 2 and he’s behind him, which makes the rescue hard.
To have Pang Tong survive, make sure that his HP is low because he will automatically use heal to heal himself, Liu Bei, Huang Zhong, and Liu Feng eliminates Wu Yi and then charge down near Pang Tong by around turn 4 as one Wu Yi is a catapult unit (yes, they’re annoying always as enemies) and this will give the distraction Pang Tong needs to survive. By turn 3 or 4, Zhuge Liang will appear along with Zhao Yun, Chen Dao, Zhang Fei, Yan Yan, and Ma Su. Move all of them west and Zhang Fei should duel Zhang Ren, Zhang Ren’s defeated and then the honorable Zhang Ren speech about "How can a loyal officer serve two lords!?" (This is my speculation.), which will lead to his honorable death and once Zhuge Liang reaches an alive Pang Tong, if his HP is low, heal him and voila, good luck surviving the rest of the battle and you just saved Pang Tong.
ultramanysParticipantHas anybody ever played the Kessen game series? I was playing 3 and it got me out of playing WoW. True Story, that game is so addictive that I can’t stop playing whenever I have the chance. Let’s talk about Kessen.
ultramanysParticipantThe game was released in 1998, which Koei began to use their current logo instead of their previous, which was in the ROTK VI. Since then, the current Koei logo has shown up in all of their games preceding sousouden (Legend of Cao Cao).
ultramanysParticipantTo get Feng Ji without all of the items is not possible. You can have Cao Cao equipped with the Shadow Runner and still kill Feng Ji. Kill Feng Ji is a must because it’s the only opportunity to have the Sword of the Seven Stars. I understand why it’s important to use a mounted archer with it, but because Cao Cao has a low chance to get attacked, it’s better to send him to kill Feng Ji.
ultramanysParticipantYes, only the PC version of the Legend of Heroes was a DOS program game. Both the Legend of Kong Ming and the Legend of Cao Cao were a windows game.
