Destiny of an Emperor II Tactic List
Destiny of an Emperor 2 Tactics
Tactics in Destiny of an Emperor 2 are similar in name to those in the first one. For many native english-users, figuring out the meanings of the tactics can be hell (some of them are still a little ambiguous in terms of what each does; to me at least). Before you use any tactics though, you MUST appoint a tactician via the “Formation” – “Strategist” function on the menu. If that person dies or leaves you must re-appoint another tactician.
Starting off, you’re going to have Guan Yu, Liu Bei or Chen Deng as your primary tacticians, until you find Zhuge Liang. Eventually you’ll get Pang Tong, Ma Liang, and Jiang Wei (as well as numerous not-worth-mentioning tacticians like Yi Ji, Jiang Wan, etc) who are all capable tacticians in their own right.
You’ll have one tactic and one formation unlocked for both Guan Yu and Liu Bei upon starting a game; Lian Huo and San Kai. San Kai is the standard formation and you can complete the game using just this if you like (although that’s not to say that you can’t find some use out of other formations). Lian Huo meanwhile is your standard fire spell, and like all fire spells it’ll stay in the top-left corner until you get a new one (Ye Huo). Also, instead of having set tactics that are used on one person/the entire party, you can choose whether you want it to be on one person or the entire enemy group. Note that choosing the entire enemy group diminishes the power of it (for offensive or healing).

NOTES
– Zhuge Liang and Jiang Wei do not get An Sha or Ji Mian.
Ma Liang would be the most capable tactician to receive An Sha.
– Zhuge Liang is the only one to receive Ba Gua.
– Jin Xian is the most economic tactic you have.
– Regarding fire/water/boulder magic – the availability of these three are completely dependent on the terrain. For example, you can’t use water tactics unless you are near the water. Boulder tactics are generally available in mountainous regions.
For more specific information regarding tactics and especially arrays, I implore you to go to our Destiny of an Emperor II forum where you can get more in-depth lists and Q/A’s regarding all the tactics above.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed with all of this, especially Samuel.
