Leveling up in Dynasty Warriors 7 is a little different, though many concepts have been used in previous games.
- Here we see Sima Shi of the Jin Kingdom. Notice the circle split up into five. From our understanding, starting from the top / upper right one; Attack, HP / Vitality, Special / Musou bar, Action and Defense in the northwest corner.
- How do we upgrade each of these then? Defeating some generals may net us a sword or a shield. DW veterans know that means attack up or defense up. One very important thing to keep in mind is that these swords + shields can be upgraded if you defeat the enemy with high combos (think Dynasty Warriors 3, where you can better the sword / shield if you got 8 combo / 16 combo / 32 combo). HP we find in boxes I believe, also like previous Dynasty Warriors games.
- Special / Musou bar and ‘Action’ can be augmented by different means. Defeating officers and other high ranking enemies increases your Deed Points. You can then use these to increase your Special + Action. Action is related to our moveset; with deed points we can unlock different attacks / abilities to use in battle.
- A couple things to keep in mind when increasing your Musou. Each character has two different types of musous, and can eventually use two musous at once if the bar is long enough. No matter what weapon you have equipped on your character, they will use their base weapon in the musou.
- Speaking of weapons. We find new weapons just like we do other rewards from defeated officers. They sometimes appear and we can equip them upon receiving them in battle. Having a long combo on an officer raises the chance of the weapon dropped being good. Also weapons can be forged in certain game modes, by blacksmiths in town. Each character can bring in two weapons to battle though has natural gifts with certain weapons (and some weapons are gender / character exclusive, like the Flute for example).
- Weapon skill levels are increased as you use them more often in Dynasty Warriors 7. The character then becomes more familiar with them (though each character has certain weapons they are naturally good with and bad with). Achieving enough skill points for a weapon allows you to unlock special skills / moves with the weapons.
- Renbu system is no more. Thankfully we are back to the charge-based attacks from DW2-DW5.
- For me, Chronicle Mode (shown above) is going to be a make or break part of Dynasty Warriors 7. This is our chance to get use out of the ‘Other’ characters who do not have their own Kingdom mode like Shu / Jin / Wei / Wu. So you pick any character you like and then you free roam (see map below) through battles and towns, interacting with relevant characters. As you might imagine, certain actions with characters in town lead to later events and in turn allow you to unlock characters in Dynasty Warriors 7.
- In case you were wondering, gone are musou modes for every character. We are back to the Kingdom Musou Modes from Dynasty Warriors 4. But Dynasty Warriors 7 Kingdom Mode is a little different. There are over 15 battles for each kingdom and you switch your character based on who was important in that battle (like Zhang Liao in He Fei). Not entirely sure how this is going to work since before Musou Mode difficulty seemed predicated on going through a musou mode with one character; how is a character in 215 in battle 11 going to fare when they haven’t been used at all? Might force us to level those characters up in free mode / chronicle mode (although that is just speculating, and assuming that difficulty with battles incremently goes up as you get later in the Kingdom mode).
So it’s kind of like Dynasty Warriors 3 by finding weapons and defense. DW6 was so lame, getting points and then with the level up system.
By chance does anyone know if you keep your gear though one mode into the next or does it reset like in the stupid empires games and then you have to go find it again? Also, Do you get to equipt items like in DW4 or is it mainly stat based like DW6?
Hey sorry for the late response. I’m hoping that once you find the items in the game, we don’t have to find them again (save for each character’s unique weapons of course).
As far as what the items and weapons provide for us, I am assuming it is like always where they add a certain + to defense, luck, attack, etc or special items for special musou attack, flame arrows, horse saddles, etc.
yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Can i play with one charcter the hole kingdom mode(like:zhao yun in shu)
Unfortunately no. Kingdom mode uses certain characters for certain levels. For example, Shu starts off with Liu Bei at Yellow Turban Rebellion. Guan Yu at Si Shui Gate. Zhang Fei at Hu Lao Gate. Etc…

ok here’s my question im an old school player… owned every single dw since the first one came out …. is it still the same old, tired, and rehashed lvls as on all the other games?
i have nothing against dynasty warriors 7. i really like the game. the game can still get better. that is what i say. if conquest mode had weapons like the ballista. for the map in conquest mode.there should be 2 maps. L1 and R1 to change map. officers and the other 1 have officers with weapons. i would like conquest mode even more. at the same time if the story mode was long i would story more. all of this stuff should come with a update. anyone agree. this what i think.
Sup i have been playing dw 4-dw7 and i still rekon dw4 still kicks ass cos the weapon and character leveling is more straight foward so how do u level your weapon up in dw7? Lu bu ftw!!!
que significa el signo de admiracion en conquest mode dw7
hey doues enybody know how i can get the smithin skill
