ParticipantYeah, I think a lot of strategy games work like that.

ParticipantThis is the better one, the Genesis one does not count.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

ParticipantThis one is a pro-made game, I’ll give you that. Probably be even more fun if you could read the text.

KeymasterI agree. This game still has a lot of potential in my mind, if it ever got translated…

ParticipantYeah, I bet some of the dialog is some of the best.

ParticipantIf there’s ever a translation team on that game, we must ask them to bring back THE quote from DOAE2. You know the one I mean! (And yes, I know this is the strategic game)

ParticipantThe problem with trying to translate this game is that it uses a HUGE Japanese font and even puts the text in Up-down, right-left order like traditional Japanese and Chinese writing. Even if one were to translate this game, it’d look like absolute rubbish.

ParticipantI tried hex editing the game. While I was able to find all of the text strings, the game does not even have an English font. When I tried to translate peoples’ names, I got blank spaces instead.

ModeratorYeah, you’d probably have to insert an English font.
If you wanted to translate the game, I’m very sure it’s possible to do so – reversing the font routine and changing the font size are well within reach. You’d want to either learn lots of stuff or find an experienced romhacker.
Generally romhackers are more plentiful (and more dedicated) than translators, so finding one would be my recommendation.
Either can be done at http://www.romhacking.net . For the former, lots of documents are up there and there’s a good community too. For the latter, you would probably want to post a help wanted ad there.
It’s far beyond what I’ve ever done and I’ve got my hands full with other stuff, otherwise I’d offer my own help :)
