ParticipantShu is a bit hard with all the generals having at least 188 defense. Again, I plan to make note of how the generals there have learned to make use of the natural defenses of the area. It was really the main challenge I added into Shu, and I think it makes it rather difficult. Most of the generals are intelligence based, and whacking at them isn't all that effective. Point of note you will like about Shu… due to the rearranging of generals, Zhang Ren will become recruitable after ChengDu… He went into my line up immediately (but he'll rotate out due to not leveling).
I have found so far that several generals seem to keep rotating in and out of the starting line up. I've been a bit sparing with who levels up and who doesn't, and added troop counts nicely to those who don't. It makes the decisions of who to play quite interesting.
Wei Pin might be Wen Pin… served Liu Biao until Cao Cao takes over northern JingZhou.
Fei Shi was, I believe, a lesser general in Liu Zheng's army. Fei Wei wasn't as prominent until Liu Bei came to town. I'll double check that, but I think that's right.
I find it interesting you used Guo Si… but then again, I recruited Ji Ling earlier.
Lu Bu getting hit with tactics, especially An Sha, is interesting. I had once mentioned making him un-AnSha-able, but that was before I forgot he'd be leaving before Wu. With as much as he is leaned upon in the earlier stages, I rather like that he is vulnerable in these stages before he leaves.
Li Ru will have to be changed. Though I will say that I tend to use him as my strategist until I get Zuo Ci. I'll do something with him, possibly giving him Cai Yong's strength and knocking Yong down a bit… I dunno.
Don't worry, you'll see Jia Xu again!
I rather like Ma Su… 190/190 ain't bad… I have a feeling he may be needed come ending time, but we'll see. Likely not. Yer in for some nice recruits through Shu and once Lu Bu and Li Ru leave. I'm interested in who you guys are using in your front 5 as you go through Shu.

KeymasterThe high defense for the enemies is killin me. Huang Quan got off a Ji Rou and I died because I could barely do 100 damage to him combined with his high defense! I think you need to banish Ji Rou from tactician's arsenals come Shu because it's too cheap combined with the high natural defenses given to them (plus, we don't have Jie Ce to counter it).
Da Re becomes extremely valuable, even against the tactician types. This is why I bring along Zuo Ci in battle even despite his negligent STR. It's the only way I can do damage.
Current party with comments about allies
Fei Shi (high soldier count, decent tactician, still mostly worthless in battle except for using tactics on dumb enemies).
Lu Bu (high attack is neutralized by the strong physical defenses so he really hasn't been valuable since Jing Zhou when we first got the Sword).
Ma Su (versatile at 190 190. He gains soldiers? He'll have some value if so but I'm not sure Ma Su should be an integral part of Dong Zhuo's army for a long period of time).
Zuo Ci (as stated before, terrible attack but the 250 INT requires his presence. Shu has consisted of me using Zuo Ci to Li Jian all enemies and then use Da Re).
Yan Liang (not sure why I'm still rolling with Yan Liang, very vulnerable to tactics and his high attack isn't helping much. 1672 soldiers also becoming obsolete so I will probably dump him for someone with higher soldiers + higher INT).
Li Ru as tactician (Thinking of using him in battle with the five above sans Yan Liang. It would be two black holes for physical attack (Zuo Ci + Li Ru) but I think I'll need the INT especially with An Sha around the corner).

KeymasterDumped Yan Liang and Fei Shi. Added Gongsun Zan (first time I've really used him) and Cai Yong. Dusted Cai Yong off since he is in the 210's for INT (my favorite tactician for these areas; Yin Xian + Li Jian. I fucking hate Wan Fu).

ParticipantWell, about Ma Su: I admit to having a small mancrush on him, lol. It is a bit difficult to determine who would have been in Dong's employ later on because, well… he died! I could certainly stagnate his troops somewhere… not sure he'd be making the end party anyways. There are a few generals with Ji Rou… they are first kills whenever they are present. I will say this, though, Ji Rou is not in the hardest 2 battles of the area (Luo and ChengDu), so I'm content in leaving it in to make the other areas harder.
I agree about Wan Fu… it does become useful through Wu though.
Perhaps I can tweek Zuo Ci, as well… but you all really do have some very useful recruits coming! Ma Teng, Ma Chao, Du Yu, Deng Ai and Cao Pi (yes, Cao Pi!) are all in your future… all of whom level. Ma Teng might not last long, though… he's a bit too much on the An-Sha susceptable side.

KeymasterAnyone know off-hand the spot on the ground where you find the Battleaxe in Cheng Du? Would be useful but I don't seem to remember, I only recently learned of it's existence from Meteor Strike when he was able to read the output of the game.
Nice touch with Liu Yan. I like that it seems like the quest is on an accelerated path (basically that Dong Zhuo is getting to Cheng Du before Liu Bei did, hence Liu Yan's presence and also Fei Shi being in the game instead of Wang Lei (who joins Liu Zhang later)). Battle was reasonably hard but I managed to use Li Jian on Wu Yi and Zhang Ren and it lasted on Ren for a long time. Meanwhile Liu Zheng and Yan weren't too troublesome; a lot of wasteful tactics were used or tactics that didn't work.
The battle with Liu Ba just a bit ago was probably harder to be honest. Liu Ba is a monster and Li Yan is upgraded a lot too. Probably will try to recruit the former and Zhang Ren if I can, although my soldier count is in the mid to high 2000's now (and one level from An Sha (just got Gui Huan)).
Interested to see who I get after losing Lu Bu and Li Ru. All of Dong Zhuo's potent warriors have been used. I'm thinking Jia Xu will come back here (or if not now, then the beginning of Wei in Jiang Wei's spot). Maybe Li Bie coming up? Li Xian? lol…A little disappointed that Hu Zhen has been ousted from the game. He was a classic Dong Zhuo member, kind of expecting to run into him here soon maybe.

ParticipantHu Zhen is technically already included… I have him in Guan Suo's spot to tell you of the Lightning Attack command.

ParticipantThe Battleax can be bought in ChengDu from the store. There are two findable along the way, one in Mian Shu Fortress and one earlier… perhaps Luo.

ParticipantJia Xu you will see again… on the right hand side of the screen.

KeymasterOh whoops I meant he Scimitar in Cheng Du. There is one you can find by searching the ground somewhere. I know about the earlier Battleaxe's though…
Du Yu and Deng Ai, that definitely took me by surprise. Better than who I thought we'd get.

ParticipantYou might start to pull ahead of me, as I am going out to the waterpark today (too hot here on the East coast)… That being said, I already know what is in store… I'll get some done tonight and keep testing, but then I really need to start hitting some of the changes that need to be made, and working on text to start to complete the story/game. Portraits will come last, lol… they are time consuming and annoying.

ParticipantDu Yu and Deng Ai? A bit random, but I'll be expecting it. ;D

KeymasterZhang Zhao + Zhang Hong. The old dude portraits.
Did you make Sun Jian un-an-sha able? I couldn't get him. (The Sun Jian at Hui Ji fortress or whatever they call the place where you fight Zhou Yu.)
My last connection to Dong Zhuo's real army has been booted (Cai Yong) as I got Liu Ba and Zhang Ren in one battle. Liu Ba has 216 INT and a serviceable attack (176 STR I believe) so he'll be my strategist + 5th member while Yin Xian is still useful (not much longer)).
I also see we don't get Jin Xian! Damn you…
Rest of my party half-way through Wu:
Zhou Yu (recruited him after the Wu Castle battle..175 STR 250 INT that's workable…again though I thought with 250 I'd get Jin Xian but I guess not)
Liu Ba (4200 soldiers, 175 STR 216 INT…also tactician in my 5 person army so he's in battle too. Probably worth replacing once I find some decent Wu members)
Zhang Ren (Same story as Liu Ba: probably worth replacing soon with the 4000 soldier count but 230+ STR and 170+ INT so it'll have to be someone else who is similarly talented).
Deng Ai
Du Yu : Goes without saying these two will probably be in my party throughout with their balanced skills in the low 200's.
Zuo Ci : Also still used in battle for that 250 INT and thus great An Sha ability. Horrendous attacks makes random battles more annoying but on speedup it's hard to notice.

KeymasterI also see you made the entire group at Ru Nan un-an-sha-able. Yikes, I went in there with an An Sha tactician. Can't do that…

KeymasterLOL. Battle of Ru Nan vs. Si Ma Yi is impossible. Jacked his AC up too high. `Even with Bei Ji + a 240 attack weapon my army takes off 200-300!
Okay I beat it but not after some big time save state cheating. Had to ensure that every Huo Shen hit him (I used Bei Ji on Zuo Ci and then Huo Shen). That got Sima Yi down to 3000 then I had to slowly take off a few hundred each turn and make sure that he used Ce Mian or Yi Xin.
Si Ma Yi at Chen Liu Gate is not too difficult. Had to get lucky with Huo Shen once more but at least Yang Xiu and Li Dian aren't as dangerous as Zhang He and Xu Huang (Ru Nan counterparts).
Just came to Luo Yang though. Si Ma Yi, Zhu Ge Liang, Jiang Wei, Zhang He, someone else good…probably impossible.
Couple of pics of Wei.

Going to try to recruit some nice generals that could help (Jia Xu comes to mind).
I could help with the portraits if you feel they are too tedious. Besides text that seems to be the only thing lacking in the game. Maybe some adjustment on the battles but I think you did well creating a competitive game. I do wish the party was more Dong Zhuo-centric towards the end but to each his own. This group was at least more potent to get through some of the tougher battles. I'd definitely suggest lowering Sima Yi's defense so those battles are more palatable. 244 is cruel lol that's what James uses for Zuo Ci random encounters in his mods.

ParticipantAw I'm still in Shu. Do you like to play video games LYS? XD
It's sort of weird how NONE of the party at the end are part of Dong Zhuo's army. 3/5 are Wei, 1/5 Shu, and the final 1/5 is some odd old sorceror dude. >_>
