Ok, rom has been updated with a lot of the corrections mentioned recently (grammar, map, tuning battles). Cao Cao and Sun Jian battles are a bit more balanced.
Also added a few more battles en route to Chang An.
Running out of unique content for Dong Zhuo. Going to have to do some brainstorming about how to go through the rest of the game after moving the Emperor to Chang An.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingApril 29, 2012 at 5:49 am #42409DragonAtmaModeratorYou think they'll just sit down after the first coalition? Have the big names arrange a second, closer-weaved coalition, and finally have Dong Zhuo crush the remaining upstarts.
EDIT: On a side note, didn't Ding Yuan run Shang Dang, err, Shangdang? 8)
April 29, 2012 at 6:52 am #42410Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterRight on. I figure the second coalition attack will be after the Dong Zhuo assassination attempt (which will provide a break from the first Coalition + Dong Zhuo's travel to Chang An). I'll need to brainstorm more on hypothetical wars with you for Dong Zhuo going forward. I suppose he could entrench himself in the matters that Guo Si / Li Jue were involved in after Dong's real-life death.
Not sure about Shang Dang. Actually remembered that he was Inspector of Bing Province (Bingzhou). Guess I could make it Bing Zhou instead of NanCounty.

I guess I am forced to play them on PC, that's still good but I really enjoy the impression of playing on a handheld.
DoaE gave birth to Huo Hu.
April 29, 2012 at 7:51 am #42412DragonAtmaModeratorRoTK8 (and quite possibly some others) places Ding Yuan's force in Shang Dang.
As for the second coalition, presumably it'd be people who weren't big names in the first coalition. After all, if Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu are both dead form the first one, that frees up Cao Cao and Sun Jian to lead the second one.

Oh well, at least you can still play. I like to play on the laptop and then I go outside and play DoaE.
Quote:RoTK8 (and quite possibly some others) places Ding Yuan's force in Shang Dang.Ah yes, if a video game does it huohu Googled "Ding Yuan Shang Dang" and found nothing so that sounds like a Koei creation to me. Probably going to put it to Bing Zhou since that seems to be a popular reference to Ding Yuan.
Quote:After all, if Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu are both dead form the first one, that frees up Cao Cao and Sun Jian to lead the second one. They are? From what I've read, Yuan Shu bails to Nan Yang because he fears Dong Zhuo. Yuan Shao is held back by Han Fu and is never at the front line against Dong Zhuo anyway – though he sends Wang Kuang often. Cao Cao and Cao Hong do battle with him, and then Sun Jian battles him several times. That's the first part of the stand-off, before Dong Zhuo heads to Chang An.

Also, is there any way that you could change the Gullwing locations so as to designate one to Qing Zhou? It's a super long walk from Xiongnu (where you have to set up the emperor) all the way around to Luo Yang if, as you mentioned earlier, you intended to pass by Nan County.

Yep. I kind of expect people to know that Lu Bu betrayed Ding Yuan so I figured it'd be a giveaway.
As for the Gullwing proposition, that is a great idea. Not sure if I can change Gullwing locations though, or how to do it. I would imagine we could switch Gullwing positions (ie between other Gullwing-able castles) but can't add more castles to Gullwing to. If that makes any sense (basically, since Qing Zhou is not a Gullwing city I'd have to take it from somewhere else). But I'm just guessing on how that works anyway.
Assuming the above is possible, I could transfer the Yang Zhou / Nan County Gullwing to Qing Zhou (since Nan County is just a stone's throw south of Xiongnu, so it's kind of negligent to have two Gullwings that close together).

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingApril 29, 2012 at 2:56 pm #42416Stallion FuryParticipantMore odd water, it's the small lake to the direct left of Mt. Daxing.
Also, just something about the beginning (oath) scene of the game. Having the three bros.' faces there just seems a little bit irrelevant, it would be cool if it was possible to somehow put other portraits in, but leaving it completely black is also fine.
As well, the sprites at the beginning, when they walk toward each other, always seem to retain the red-green-blue of Liu Bei-Zhang Fei-Guan Yu. Since this mod's main characters are of different color schemes, is there a way to fix that initial scene?

One thing about the snow area though, there are only a limited amount of different terrain we can use. So for using water in the snow area, it is literally impossible to make the shoreline look entirely smooth.
As for the Oath at the beginning, I believe it can be blacked out. I remember it is slice-by-slice to edit so that would be damn hard to put something new in there. As far as the sprites walking, their color has always been messed up. Not sure how to change that either, I just grin and bear it.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingApril 29, 2012 at 6:15 pm #42418cabalpapaParticipantLYS, I have a suggestion about the Lu Bu thing in your game. As it stands now, that battle isn't really that hard, and Lu Bu isn't event he strongest/hardest part of that battle. Being that you would want the unsuspecting new player to figure out a way around Lu Bu so that he can later be recruited from that battle, I suggest you make him nearly impossible to defeat. Adding a huge attack power makes the battle hard to beat even when you do try to recruit him, so I suggest perhaps giving him a really high defense for that battle. That makes it clear that he is not to be beaten in the regular fashion (a higher troop count, just under 1000, might help too, to help prevent his death by Ye Huo), but instead have a catch to that battle. It would also make it slightly more realistic… As it stands now, it isn't even as hard of a battle as the one with Wang Guo and Ma Teng, and can simply be trudged right through in many cases (like I did the first time). This is counter productive to getting people to figure out yer tricky landscaping to find the way around, too. =)
April 29, 2012 at 6:31 pm #42419Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterGood points, cabalpapa. I did think to make his defense a lot stronger, but I should also add to his soldier count (so like you say, the user can't use Ye Huo / Shui Xing to take him out). I had thought of making Lu Bu close to impossible but wanted to give the person the option to go through if they wanted. But like you say, combined with the landscape, making Lu Bu extremely hard will smarten people up and get them to go the long way around.

Now I don't have to deal with him one-hit killing all my guys. At Luo Yang the fucker had 11 soldiers left and one-hit killed Zhang Fei who had max soldiers (389) and the best armor possible lol. You really gotta hit like 2-3 scorch's every turn against Lu Bu in that battle to get rid of him fast. Thankfully Dong Zhuo wasn't as potent.<read above> :unibrow:
