ModeratorTo be updated in version 3.0
Now that the Flames of Wu Mod is approaching it's long-awaited release, I will soon undertake some brief refining of the classic Rise of Lu Bu Mod. Updating it with newer portraits and gameplay features. ROLB's main drawback was that it only incorporated some of the newest features in 2011 and has not been updated with some of the more beefier enhancements. Stay tuned….
What a surprise… a NEW LU BU PORTRAIT!
Over the course of practicing new Lu Bu portraits, you might notice the improvements in my DOAE portrait editing. The first portrait I made was truly laughable in comparison with some of the later work.
Timeline of Lu Bu portraits:

ModeratorYour portrait work is really fantasic now. I remember your first attempts where you just combined existing portraits making for some interesting yet really strange looking dudes like these:

Now your portraits are top notch! :thumleft:

InactiveI'm currently really enjoying the Rise of Lu Bu mod and was wondering how I get to the wise old priest up north in Jizhou? I can see his house >_< but mountains are in the way.

ModeratorAh, that was a section of the game which never got completed so I closed it off. Rise of Lu Bu was made at a time where I was still learning a lot of modding techniques and is really a demonstration of my learning of modding tools. Rise of Ieyasu took things to the next level and Flames of Wu (to be released in the future) take things to a crazy level of things that can be done.
I'd love to hear any feedback or input you have for revisions in Rise of Lu Bu which I plan to do upon completion of FOW.

InactiveI really look forward to FoW, Rise of Lu Bu is pretty solid right up to Cao Cao and Sun Ce invading Jizhou. I had a lot of fun with how difficult restoring peace to Shu was, just the right kinda hard. But the Cao Cao and Sun Ce fights have me stuck grinding and buying food. Losing the guard tactic for evade really hurts at that point. Having more tacticians before Pang Tong wouldn't be a bad thing… pretty sure Zhao Yun is the highest intelligence until you have Zhuge Liang which makes using offensive tactics pretty much impossible since enemies generals constantly have high intelligence. Which I found to be the biggest problem with the Sun Ce and Cao Cao fights their backup high strength generals are too intelligent to effectively use slayer on. But overall great job, can't wait for FoW and thanks for the hard work so glad someone is modding one of the best rpgs ever was so excited when I stumbled upon this forum!

Which I found to be the biggest problem with the Sun Ce and Cao Cao fights their backup high strength generals are too intelligent to effectively use slayer on.When Rise of Lu Bu was being made, there was no CLEAR understanding on tactic adjustments. Essentially, my thought while making ROLB was that savestate hacking-An Sha abuse that players would get around Shu would ruin the game. Then after releasing the game, I found out people were also doing that with mislead/doubt instead, heh. When I orginally made the game, I had to design it in such a way that the player wouldn't get anyone who could acquire Ansha, which effectively eliminated officers w/ 200-239 intelligence. That was the original rationale and is why I would like to revisit the mod and revamp it completely with all of the new modding tools and techniques I've learned. The mod is a few years old now and hacking has come a long ways, but thanks for the input and giving me things to implement, along with new portraits and sprites
Currently, I'm waiting on a bug-fix from MiDKnighT to Rise of Ieyasu which should prevent some in-game locking up, but I'm taking a hiatus from FOW to fix the imbalances in that mod which are *NEARLY COMPLETE*
I know the evade thing sucks, but it also, like you said, increased the difficulty later on in the game. Guard was WAY overpowered and a patching of the game could fix that.
Quote:was so excited when I stumbled upon this forum!Sadly, this is the biggest problem with our hacking community, getting the word out! It's why we're posting some videos on youtube and MiDKnighT and LYS have a facebook page dedicated to DOAE to reach more of an audience.

ParticipantI'm at the end of this mod and I don't think i'm going to be able to beat it. Not with the line up I have anyways..

ModeratorRise of Lu Bu was my first mod and now, 2 years later, it could really use some balance tweaking. For it's time, it was a major challenge, but not quite as much as the Wei Mod which was downright impossible without savestate hacking. I'm hoping to revise Rise of Lu Bu after releasing Flames of Wu

ParticipantI really enjoyed this Mod (I have 3 on the go currently lol) but that last castle is impossible. there is also a Random house that I can fight that has 5 guys all with 255 stats, which is also impossible lol.

ModeratorQuote:but that last castle is impossibleDo you have steeds in your inventory? Those will give you 2x hits. Is your weapons/armor up to date? A strategy that will help beat those Hojo guys would be some heavy hitters with Carnage as tactics are harder to hit them with.

ModeratorAh, whoops, got mixed up there. Yeah, I believe it is like Deng Ai, Sima Yi, Du Yu, Zhong Hui and someone else… unless you're talking about the FINAL FINAL battle.
. What it takes if I remember was some lucky Thwarting and what not
