Zhang He. It would kick ass to be able to hire him before going into Jingzhou.
May 8, 2006 at 1:23 pm #14478Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterLooks like Zhang He owns this poll.
Very similar to Mr. Wei Yan.
Wei Yan – 228 STR 136 INT 1317 soldiers
Zhang He – 210 STR 150 INT 1317 soldiers

May 8, 2006 at 6:51 pm #14480Zhang LuParticipantZhang He is my choice, with Yuan Yin and Sun Huan a close 2nd and 3rd. Yu Jin comes in way too late to make any sort of difference.
Zhang Lu
They see me throwin' fireballs out of my sword, they runnin'.February 8, 2009 at 6:46 pm #14481DragonAtmaModeratorWhat about Yuan Shao? Since he first appears in Luo Yang, getting him there would be WTFPWN-in-a-bottle for AT LEAST the next chapter and a half.
February 8, 2009 at 6:47 pm #14482Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterTrue, leaders like Yuan Shao and Dong Zhuo should be considered. They are generally some of the best generals in their area, naturally.
I used to have a poll with this, with like Jia Xu, Zhang He, Yuan Yin, Sun Huan, etc. I should re-add the poll with the best non-recruitable candidates.
With Destiny of an Editor though this seems a little silly, since you can basically have any general you want. But of course we’re talking about how the real DoaE is constructed here.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 9, 2009 at 3:05 pm #14483DragonAtmaModeratorIt’s not "arguably best in the area" (especially since Zhang He is suprisingly close) so much as "arguably best in the area two areas after the current one".
February 9, 2009 at 3:26 pm #14484Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea that’s where soldier count ties into the longevity of a general’s usefulness.
Zhang He is a tough example because if you just went through Ji Zhou early on, he’d be a boon to have through Jing Zhou (granted, not a tough place to go through). Conversely if you left the Yuan Shao battle for after the Jing Zhou stuff, which I do sometimes, that would make Zhang He obsolete quickly with his 1317 soldiers going into Shu. This is the same reason I don’t like to use Wei Yan into Shu, because he takes a hit or two and he’s lower than 1000 soldiers and his damage dealt goes to shit. This makes a general like Yuan Shao more valuable in my opinion, because he has nearly 1800 soldiers so his strength is lower but his ability to sustain max damage lasts longer than some of the more talented generals in his area :)

Lu Bu Shu Version would also be damned useful.
Also, given their location, the glitch they call Super Rebels would be a great addition; even 84 str and 68 int is more than acceptable if you have 50,000+ soldiers in Shu. Just make sure you leave them behind when you reach An Sha users! :Þ
February 27, 2011 at 11:00 pm #14486LinkParticipantSima Yi.
March 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm #14487Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterlmao, Rebel Forces. How would that work, we could just recruit an unlimited amount of them? I don't think anyone has done that with any of the those regular-battle forces, I wonder if it would break the game to have them recruitable (or maybe you recruit the Brigand and then they never show up on the field again lol?)
Lu Bu from Shu-area would be good through most of Wu I would think, with 7003 soldiers. And ridiculously overpowered for Shu. You could kill off the rest of your army and just fight Shu with Lu Bu and you'd win I bet. Actually maybe not, 7003 soldiers and Cheng Du for example has like like ~13,000, or Luo with about 10,0000 and Ma Chao / Ma Dai / Pang De. Could be a decent challenge :huohu:
So with Si Ma Yi are we operating under the premise that he joins after the first time we beat him? Because if he joined after the last battle, well, it'd be kind of pointless. But yea if you got him after Ru Nan and instead were fighting Cao Cao in his place, Si Ma Yi would be sweet to have. After all he's much stronger than Zhu Ge Liang who has like a 120 Attack to Si Ma Yi's 185 (just going off memory)

As for super rebels, their stats (aside from soldier count, of course) are pretty muhc identical to Cheng Yuan Zhi's stats (84/68 vs 85/68). If Cheng Yuan Zhi suddenly had 50,000 soldiers when you recruited him, how long would you use him?
June 18, 2011 at 7:04 am #14489Jiang WeiParticipantthis just preferance but i think that sun ce/sun quan would win this
