ParticipantI still need to get myself credited on Kongming.net for for my DOAE 1 and 2 lowest level finishes. What would it take to get this going? Xian Zhu Xuande, care to help a brotha out?

ParticipantSorry. I’m not sure if you sent this to me…
… but I need:
1) Your post-Sima Yi screenshot (like the others shown, and it cannot be in a compressed format such as JPG).
2) The name and link (i/a) you want credited.
3) Date of completion.
4) Rules you played by (e.g. no power pills, three optional officers, etc.)
5) Refresh my memory with a link to your victory. I remember following it, though!
Sorry if you’ve already sent something to me. :)

ParticipantWow,that was a fast response. Yeah, not a problem. I’ll be sure to send the details tomorrow. My run was actually in the same category as the Lord’s, yet I even managed to avoid the fight with Lu Bu in ALL OF SHU (smoke pots, smoke pots, smoke pots). I was happy to see I had the lowest exp count yet, only fighting the one random battle to get Han Zhong on my side (4 exp I think). I don’t even know if that "no shops, EVER rule is possible…" Maybe one day.
I did also complete a lowest level run of DOAE2, ya know! (level 41 I think) Can we devote a new section to that? HAHAHAHA
Talk to you later.

ParticipantHaha… especially if he beat you, too!
That puts him first in the list.
The big catch in getting up there is the rebel forces in each battle (though not fighting Pang Tong, Lu Bu, and the pirates is huge). The troop totals for the rebel forces vary from battle to battle so they affect your experience. I’m still looking forward to seeing the first attempt at the ‘no stores, ever’ condition.

ParticipantWell, XZX, I sent you the stuff. From hereon out, it’s gonna be raining men! Um, bad example. I sure am stoked about this. I plan to attempt the "no-items" run in the future, as well as the Lord’s Alternative Officer Challenge (it looks so fun, someone should try it!). I’m also still pushing to get credit for my DOAE 2 lowest-level run. One day, I can take my wife and 2.5 kids to KMA to show them Daddy’s accomplishments. We all know that’s what commands respect in a household.

ParticipantIs the lowest level challenge difficult in DoaE II?
It wouldn’t hurt to make a challenge page for it. :)
I’m sorely attempted to try the no shops challenge…

ParticipantIn a word: yes. I actually had a much more difficult time with the DOAE2 challenge than the DOAE1 challenge. Bare in mind that even with normal play, the enemy soldier counts in DOAE2 will greatly outnumber that of your heroes at any given time. This plays a huge role even fiarly early on. Also, I find that enemies have greater defensive capabilities in 2 than in 1. Factor in how in 2 the decrease in troops far more greatly influences loss in attack power, and you will find that tactics and experimenting with the different formations is absolutely essential to pulling off the challenge.
Judging from how awesomely tough a time I had with that lowest level run for 2 in certain parts, I would actually be willing to bet that completing 1 on the highest challenge level is still a little easier, albeit more annoying (so much for heal potions, reviving dead troops until way later in the game, and gullwings).

ParticipantI just completed an Alternate general challenge. All generals that gain levels were immediately disarmed and intentionally killed in random battles and only alternate generals were used to fight and act as tacticians though the entire game. Yes, I even dominated with Song Yong, Song Ren, and Mi Zhi for the first 4 major battles of the game.
Also,
No Pang Tong
No Power Pills
No An Sha
No field saves
I was wondering if anyone has tried using only 4 generals in every battle?

Participantehh…
4 generals in every battle was suprisingly easy. 3 generals in every battle was also, with the exception of the Tai Si Ci / Sun Quan battle. Getting Li Jian or even Yi Xin cast on one of your generals is a real bitch with only 3. For this reason I dumped Guan Xing for Jian Wei.

ParticipantI was thinking about that.
I bet two generals in every battle gives you a hard-core challenge, though.

ParticipantThe tactician gap between Leiu Bei and Zhu Zhi (Dan Fu) really sucks. I normally try to recruit Li Ru for this period. He has a high soldier count and intelligence, but strength is THE lowest in the game. His attacks bring a whopping 2 damage no matter what weapon he uses. With some premature leveling up, one could probably get to the Pang Tong part of the story, with him it’s definitely doable for a while. I think the double Ti Ci Si / Sun Quan batlle is where it would come to a screeching halt with only 2 generals. You have 2 big trees to chop down with tactical points at a premium, crappy weapons and only one heavy hitter. If by a miracle, you could get past this batlle, I’d be willing to bet that the halberd could be used to wipe out the Si Ma’s.

KeymasterHey, that sounds like a fun challenge you’ve concocted bennysan. So you use Guan Yu with Li Ru for example? Who do you generally end up using when you face Tai Si Ci and Lu Sun?

ParticipantI would think the ideal characters going into the end of the game would have high attack and intelligence scores. Zhao Yun would be your best character. Jiang Wei might work out at the end, though you’d need Zhuge Liang to beat Sima Yi, I’ll wager
October 5, 2008 at 3:55 pm #19455Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterYea the Sima Yi battles sound impossible with two characters doing such meager damage. If you have Zhuge Liang for Ce Mian that’s good but he’s also a weak attacker…
Zhao Yun definitely sounds like a must have for this. Even though his HP starts off slow he just has such balance with STR / INT. I do agree about that Lu Sun battle – just have someone An Sha him. However for the Sun Quan battle it’d probably be nicer to have Zhuge Liang and Jin Xian to heal your party instead of Wan Fu – can you retreat from that Sun Quan battle? I know if you die and come back you don’t have to fight the Taishi / Lu Sun battle again.
This challenge sounds like it could be worth it. Hey, how about one character? That sounds a little ambitious though…
