Yeah, you can retreat from Sun Quan. You’ll face him directly when you return.
No trouble there.
Zhou Yu will be frustrating and harsh! You might have to manage some power leveling with an An Sha tactician and inn visits. That should help to speed your way through Wu. Some earlier battles are going to be tough, too. Imagine Ma Chao? Lu Bu and Li Ru would be unkind, I bet.
Some of the tougher battles, though, like Cao Pi and Sima Yi, are where I can see things getting really harsh. You’d need to be around level 51 to even think of it. And yeah, having Zhuge Liang for the final battle could be a deal breaker. Heck, you might die in the battle with Yang Xiu trying to take him down (I recall he has Wan Fu). Taking Sima Yi down with one span of Ce Mians and Zhao Yun would be pretty brutal. It would be nearly impossible to get lucky enough to succeed here without Ce Mian…
The one character challenge would be to see how far you can get, not to see if you can beat the game. Haha…

240+ intelligence is the requirement, I believe.
I note all the requirements in my walkthrough. I’m not sure if LYS posted it on his website, but you can get it at kongming.net/doae/ (right there at the bottom of the page).
Lu Sun/Xun does learn Ce Mian. That might make him a good candidate for a while given that he also has a great strength stat (if I recall correctly). His soldier count is going to start hurting by the time your each Cao Pi/Sima Yi, though, where you’ll need to be right around level 51 to have a shot, and every single TP is going to count.

Pang Tong and Zhang Zhao might be the first 240 Int characters you run across
The no shop thing is definitely do-able just abuse tactics.

I made it past Yuan Shao with 2 generals. We’ll see if Xu Zhe can continue to carry the load until I pick up Mr. Pang Tong.

Man this is hard :) Liu Bei is gone and I have Mi Zhu and Chen Deng as my supporters, shit.
Something weird I noticed is that Li Su isn’t with Hua Xiong at Fan Shui…I’ve never seen that before. I wonder if some battles are different with 2 characters? Not sure why else he would be gone unless it’s a bug in the game.

And you’re using Huo Hu because he’s Huo Hu.
Yea well there is no way I’m winning Luo Yang here with Huo Hu. I can’t even beat it with Li Ru and Guan Yu. I’ll kill Lu Bu but problem is those two only attack the top guy so Guan Yu dies eventually and Li Ru is left and once my TP is up it’s over :(

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingI figured that battle would be ugly. Dong Zhuo is going to be harsh too, probably. The answer, of course, is some power leveling. :)
I used Li Ru with Zhang Fei for that battle. Li Ru is the best tactician available until Xu Zhe. I did have to do some leveling up first. When I did the 3 generals challenge, I had 3 in my party the whole game, and it took forever. To keep things moving more quickly, I am ressurecting and fighting random battles with 5 members. I had to level up a bit before facing Ma Choa as well.
I’ve made it into the land of Wei with 2 members. I believe I just defeated Zhu Ge Jin at Wu castle. I’m at level 32. I just retired Mr. Pang Tong. Zhoa Yun is getting ready to replace Guan Xing as soon as his soldier count gets a bit higher.
I’m not sure how much further my 2 party team can make it. I’ll have a better idea after I snag the Qing Long? out of the next cave. Things are definitely getting interesting.
Zhang Fei bennysan? I figured we would need another able INT officer like Liu Feng or Guan Yu to go with Li Ru. Maybe that’s my problem because I did run out of TP but I figure if I have an attacker like Zhang Fei I’ll just run out of HP with him. We’ll see, I’m only in the low 300’s for soldiers so I should probably get close to 400 and try again.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingZhang Fei makes sense that early. Every little bit extra you can milk out of the attack power will help take down enemies. It is in the battles with really tough tacticians that things could potentially go sour.
Yea good idea about grinding though, it’s so hard to do with 2 characters. You have to go to the Inn every couple of battles. I’ve been doing it so far but I’ll probably stop so I can speed up the grinding parts at least.
Big question, did you recruit Lu Bu? I assume you didn’t to make the Chang An and Nan Yang battles prime difficulty. Chang An in particular sounds impossible right now to me with 2 characters lol I might consider Cai Yong now that I think of it, the more balanced Dong Zhuo-area tactician with higher attack power.

Also though I find it much more difficult to run away against multiple generals. Like, save state or re-load or I’m dead.
