Ok as soon as I reached Level 11 (389 soldiers for Zhang Fei 365 for Guan Yu) I was able to rout Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo, mostly because of the added 7 TP so I just Ye Huo-ed them to death quite easily. Even had a few Chi Xin’s to spare.

What about two officers in DoaE2?
Song Yong and Song Ren might be able to win a battle against two Bandit Forces. Even then they’d probably have to be fully equipped to do so :)
God that was so brutal going through the game with those weirdo’s.

Well I’m just tearing through this game now. Had to level up to Tong Xian to beat the Chang An battle. Shortly after I got Yan Re and then the Yuan Shu, Yuan Shao, Jing Zhou areas were not too difficult.
Another funny thing I noticed playing through. At Fu Shui I didn’t get Liu Zheng out of his cell and somehow was allowed to continue on? Usually the game stops you there I thought but it must have been using the speedup key when I left that allowed me to quickly go north of Fu Shui. anyway, I beat Ma Chao but there were guards at Luo Castle when I went in that prevented me from going onward until I freed Liu Zheng! I was hoping I could continue on to see if Liu Zheng wasn’t at Cheng Dou…
It’s been Guan Yu and Pang Tong for me for a while, but I switched Guan Yu out for Yan Yan and now Ma Dai for soldier purposes.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingI don’t know if I’ve ever used Fa Zheng. But I am now. I’ve got An Sha, but Ma Liang’s soldier count is too low to use in battle. So Fa Zheng is the next best tactician for now.
Actually just beat the Zhou Yu battle, with Fa Zheng and Zhuge Liang. Just took a one-turn An Sha on Zhou Yu to turn the tide :)
I’d like to upgrade my An Sha tactician though to someone over 200 INT like Zhou Yu Kan Ze Zhu Ge Jin or Lu Su

For the end of Wu, I just An Sha-ed Taishi and Lu Sun, then used Gui Huan to retreat and put Zhuge as the tactician. Then used Bei Ji and spammed Huo Shen.
Once you get Jiang Wei it just gets easier. Jiang and Zhuge together, just switch off based on who you are fighting. An Sha your way to the Cao Pi battle, then do the same Bei Ji – Huo Shen / Shui Long trick to take out Cao Pi in both battles.
Then, for the Si Ma Yi battles I just used An Sha and then Power Pil’s on Sima. I only used them once his HP was low though incase he got Wan Fu up, which he will when you only have two guys attacking him and no Ce Mian. Luck is essential for the Sima Yi battles otherwise you’ll just be fighting forever until your TP is up.
I honestly think you could do a lot of damage just with an An Sha tactician or just with Zhuge as the Tactician, using Bei Ji – Huo Shen and healing with Jin Xian :) Not sure if I want to try yet though. The beginning with the 1 player party would be impossible I reckon.
This challenge was definitely hardest around the Dong Zhuo area. Not even close. Once I got Tong Xian, then Yan Re, it started to get easy…

According to my time logger, it took me about 20 hours to get to Cao Pi in this challenge, but I spent some significant time leveling up.
Ok. I just tried out the fast forward forward function on my virtual NES for the first time. Grr… Wish I would have known this sooner.

How fast do you think one could beat the game from start to finish using all 5 generals? Using smoke pots and minimal leveling up, I bet it could be done in one sitting. Probably less that 10 hours with the assistance of a couple of pots of coffee and a catheter.

:) The trick for me has always been using the FCE Ultra emulator, and the ~ button which is speedup. This makes the grinding go by extremely fast and I tend to use it in the overworld too just to make things a bit quicker. That’s why I love writing walkthroughs for NES / SNES / Genesis games because I can just use the speedup function on the emulator to make the games about 1 / 5th of the time they actually are. Because quite frankly I don’t have the time to do it otherwise anymore! :lol:
It seriously took me less than an hour from when I beat Chang An until I reached the Shu Region. Just burned through those areas without much resistance once I got sweet tactics like Yan Re, Yin Xian, Yi Xin, Li Jian, Ji Rou, etc. Plus the Bow, Trident and Swords were extremely helpful. Then once you get Pang Tong you should have little trouble getting through the Shu Region, and by that time you’ll have An Sha soon enough. An Sha of course just mauls everyone.
The end took me a while because those Si Ma Yi fights took several tries because of the Wan Fu – restore all soldier stuff. But I got lucky in those three battles and eventually with Power Pil’s you can catch him.

Damn, you can’t get FCE Ultra on your phone and then reprogram the speedup key? That’s still pretty cool though, who needs the DS version if the NES one is portable!

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingDuring the 2 officer challenge I was thinking that this would probably be possible with one character but it would require a ridiculous amount of grinding.
Figure that you’d need to use Liu Bei throughout the Yellow Turban area because he’s the best tactician. Since he has fixed soldier count you’d probably need to grind until you got Ye Huo.
The tricky part would be once he is the ruler. Then you would have to run out there with Chen Deng or Mi Zhe! Seriously that sounds impossible. You would likely need to grind until you got Tong Xian – Yan Re, not even sure if these guys learn those tactics. Even then you would need to beat the Hua Xiong and Lu Bu battle….
