Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterDamn, that sounds like a bit of work to convert all of them. I can see why you probably only did it for a few select characters :)
Updated the Yuan Shu mod rom to the new one with Cao Cao and Yuan Shu’s DoaE 2 portraits. Thanks again for your quick work Cao Jay.

ModeratorChanging them isn’t that hard (just use a palette-changing program), but the style of artwork is clearly different.

ParticipantA palette changing program? How would that help with a DoaE III portrait?

ModeratorJust change each color to the appropriate one of white/red/pink/black. Yes, there’d be some touching up at the end, but it’d be a lot quicker than changing everything pixel by pixel!

ParticipantYou haven’t done it, have you?
The Destiny of an Emperor III portraits use much more than four colors. :)

ModeratorOf coruse I’ve done it! Where did you think Jin Xuan’s awesome portrait came from? Signing a faustian agreement with Dick Cheney?

KeymasterYea I realized that once I started playing too. The colors are different from the DoaE 3 portrait but it looks the same for the most part.

ParticipantIf you’ve got a program which handles most of the palette simplification, which one is it? I would love to use something like that to get started in converting a portrait. It would make the cleanup process very very easy.

KeymasterBurned through this on speedup two days ago + yesterday. Cleaned up the few errors in text, and fixed up a few more battles.
Not sure when I'm going to complete the second part of Wei. I will have to re-do the earlier part in the game to make it so Liu Bei and friends live, allowing them to be at the end of the game. A bit of work to do, not sure when I'll do it, but I enjoyed going through and re-acquainting myself with the game.

Guess who's back? Yea, it's Huo Hu…

classic sonic.penguin style Zhang Zhao portrait hack huohu

Who is going to help Yuan Shu? The local barkeep of course!

That prodigy Yuan Shu was training in Nan Yang.

KeymasterYep.
I got slowed down pretty good around LuoYang, because I decided to be an idiot again and edit the area around Luo Yang. I tried to make the correct path from Hu Lao Gate to be the northwest-most one, but then that goes into the area that covers Luo Yang that you can't touch (actually it seems there are two regions near Luo Yang that we can't edit, the lower one with the gates and then the one above that that still includes Luo Yang).
Some more images.

It's a Huo Hu party.

Yes, the Imperial Seal.

Changing the storyline around to have the other rulers turn on Yuan Shu because he found the Seal (which I think will work because I just assume everyone goes and gets the Gold Key + Gemsword / Seal / Treaty / whatever it is).

Lu Bu seeking either the Imperial Seal or Powder.
Still got lots of slight map adjusting to do for each area. Need to get DoaE 2 LYS sprite. Worked the story / text pretty well up through the Nan Yang region.

ModeratorThe imperial seal…that's the best use of the gemsword plot I've seen. Better than my treaty idea. Good one!
