Lord Yuan Shu
Keymasterlol, hey come on. I just said I enjoy the difficulty, didn't say make it push-over easy. But that Zhuge battle is like 1% chance of winning, if that. Can't expect the user playing the game to know he has basically an impossible battle at his hands if he talks to that guy in LingLing. Because again, we have to expect the user playing our mods is knowledgeable about how the game works and is going to talk to that guy in Ling Ling every time…thus the battle becomes unavoidable while you stroll through the Jing Zhou region (lest you wish to use Smoke Pots every time you go through Jing Zhou while you are recruiting Zhu Ge Liang or whoever is in his role).
So, a few ideas…slice his soldier count in half (15k to 7k) and that helps a bit. Then reduce his attack power, because that should be the freebie turn essentially for us (defensively). It's just demoralizing when Zhuge bombs you with tactics and then can take off a ton with a physical attack too.
Even with those two adjustments the battle would still be like 10-20% winnable.

ModeratorHey, you just gave me a great idea! Why does it have to be "that guy" that everyone always talks to… hmm, maybe I'll change the "that guy" to someone else….

Actually, I tested this more than once. First time I beat it, realized video wasn't being taken. Second time I beat it, then found out video wasn't centered properly and cut the screen in half, grrr! Third time I died. Fourth time I died. Fifth time I beat it and had it recorded properly :) So thats, errr 60% ehehe.
ust don't know what I would change the battle to though. It's programmed for Jing Zhou and is unchangeable even w/ Niahaks tools. Only thing I could do would be to make him weaker and as you can see, he dies in about 2-3 rounds when under 10k and can't Wan Fu (unless he has a few hundred hp left like me ehehe)

KeymasterGiving him Wan Fu is fine so long as his soldier count is like ~7000. Wan Fu is too insurmountable when he has 15000 soldiers. He might still die early, but try it without Power Pil's (since whoever is playing the game likely doesn't have guys that are full of Power Pil's).
I too agree that it'd probably be much more work and hassle than it's worth in terms of moving the villager that sets off that battle. At least for now with what we have at our disposal.

ModeratorOK playing this again. I still say you've gone mad with the one hit kills. This time with Lu Bu in Yuan Shao's area and Tiger Wang (so far) who one-hit kill you even with guard on. Halberds have no business being in chapter 4.
But on the bright side I do like some of the funny villager lines and the mini-mazes on the map.

Your Yuan Shao mod game me some inspiration, why does Yuan Shao have to be up there anyways? So I am currently in the process of rearranging dialogue, which takes the most time, and adjusting battles to creat an all new experience for the Yuan area of the game :)
Tiger Wang? Just 'doubt' him or 'mislead' and the battle is over in like 3 turns.
Also I am dropping Lu Bu's attack power in Yuan Shao's land to around Scimitar/Lance power.

I didn't have doubt at the time but once I leveled up and got doubt I could handle Lu Bu and Tiger Wang. Still don't like 100% one-hit kills though. Now have to deal with Zhuge Liang and Dong Zhou. Ouch… I've heard they are way overpowered too.

Moderatorplaying the oct 27th version.
just entered chang'an.
so far it's been good. not too overtly evil, and not too easy. overworld and basket room tile mishaps are easy enough to ignore.
the use of resurrects in the DZ area have been nice, particularly with the one-hit lu bu kills heheh.

i have hit *one* bug so far…. and given the nature of it i wonder if it's a doe bug at that. didn't have a full party (just fighters + strat), lvl'd up, and it told me that huang zhong had xxx number of soldiers (same as cheng deng i think?)…. i've obviously not gotten him yet, let alone he's obviously not in the party.

will there be any problems moving from the oct27th ver to the 29th ver within my current game (using in game saving functionality, not save states) ?

i've debated streaming my play through to justin.tv, but…. dunno if there's a point :D
