ParticipantYeah, it inspired me to do a bit more research as well. Plenty of the RotK games have him as Xu Long. No worries, its an easy fix, and will be updated tonight along with further officer updates. I'll be emailing LYS tonight with an updated version, perhaps having all the officers updated. Note to any who get to playtest the game before I get to work extensively with text… Cao Cao will not be recruitable, even with the gemsword… so ya might as well skip him. Also, Though in game text has not been changed to reflect it as of yet, Han Zhong is not available, making QingZhou made to be defeated the hard way.
cabalpapa
ParticipantYes, I do, except his name was actually Xu Long, not Xu Rong. The names often get mixed up and confused with Zhu Rong, who 'served' with Meng Huo.

Not sure if this link will work. I will log out and test it. If it doesn't, I will edit the post.

ParticipantHmmmm, the version I sent ya still had Han Zhong being recruitable. I thought I changed that. It is fixed now, if you care to fix it using your own editor, go ahead.

ParticipantLYS, I sent the current form of the mod to ya at the email address listed above. I've also created a photobucket account so I can try and get some screen shots linked up here. Going to go do some playtesting and screen shotting now. And then work more this weekend on it while I am still highly motivated (which I definately am!!)

ParticipantI'm still a Nestopia fan. Always have been, and likely always will be. Well, I used Nesticle back in the day before Nestopia, but thats reaching a bit far back.

ParticipantI have the officers modified up through Wu now. Started using the text editor a little to change the text at beginning of game. I got the hang of it… for now. I will see about any place that can give me some picture hosting for free so I can send ya some screenshots. Going to do another round of playtesting soon. Anyone bored enough that wants to help with some of the playtesting, knowing that the text isn't done? Or do you want to wait for a finished product?
cabalpapa
ParticipantThanks Atma, I will take that into consideration as I get to the text-editing parts. I will be starting slow on text to make sure I get the hang of it. Right now I am working on some flavor for Wu… That's assuming you can get past JiZhou and ChangSha, though…

ParticipantThanks Niahak. Your tools are great. Some of the portrait changes are simple enough once you find the order and such of the individual portraits on your editor. Sorting through the mass of generic picture trade-ins would be a hassle for a bit without proper catagorizing (knowing which codes went for each part of the portrait), but I will manage. I do not have sufficient knowledge to bring in portraits from outside the game, however, so my ability is limited to what your editor has to offer (which is tons).
I'll have a bunch of work done on this in the days ahead, and perhaps get some screen shots for you all… If people are interested in helping me playtest, that could be done as well. How do I attach or upload any pictures or other files in here?
cabalpapa
ParticipantWell, I see some spoiler information is wanted. Some of these answers I can give you already. Screenshots I can work on soon, too, if I can figure out how to upload them for y'all.
"Who is the new Zhuge Liang?" => Currently, I have the mystic Zuo Ci in that slot. While a wonderful strategist, I am doubting you'll want to use him in the front 5.
"Who is the new Lu Bu?" => The Lu Bu slot in this game will not be recruitable, gemsword or no. This slot instead goes to an opposing general that you will dread facing the 7 times you see him… think about who would have had issues finding land to rule if Dong Zhuo doesn't lose.
So far, there seems to be an interesting balancing act between what officers you want to use. The Zhang Fei and Guan Yu go to the polor opposites Lu Bu and Li Ru. Li Ru will likely be your strategist for some time (as he should be). Song Ren and Song Yong go to Cai Yong and Hua Xiong, one of which levels. Dong Zhuo is in Liu Bei's slot, leaving you with the interesting selection of Dong Min (who sat as my 6th slot for a while until now entering Shu he becomes a solid choice).
While people like Huang Zhong, Wei Yan, Pang Tong, and the Ma brothers all reprive their previous roles in JingZhou, they may not prove to be as useful as you would hope.
Ma Teng is never assassinated (this is a clue for the question above), and joins Ma Chao.
I have a special surprise slated for the Jiang Wei slot that has to do with the twist from above, as well. Sima Yi will indeed still be at the final battle, but his supporting cast will be interesting. Du Yu and Deng Ai join your forces at a certain point, as well.
Liu Biao never ambushes Sun Jian, as being unsuccessful against Dong Zhuo changes his plans to return home to Chang Sha.
Wow, I guess this is enough spoiler info for now!

ParticipantI'll get to work on some things very soon. I want to make the first round of sweeping changes, add the majrity of the flavor, and then go back and tweek things. It's already very fun! I've put some real challenges in considering what generals you want to use… Lu Bu is so critical, though, at least in early stages… (fittingly). I will likely need to go make him un-AnSha-able, though. Thanks for the help. I'll see how fast I can get this done!
cabalpapa
ParticipantOk, thanks. I essentially know where everything is said. I've seen some mods change choices (and outcomes) on some of the questions. And even seen some mods change items, and even add items. James' Cao Cao mod comes to mind. Is that done through the text editor? Sorry that I am asking this before I try it.
cabalpapa
ParticipantThere is a text editor? Does it require using hex or does the program do that for me? If it is user friendly, can I be linked to it or such?
