ParticipantJia Xu you will see again… on the right hand side of the screen.

ParticipantThe Battleax can be bought in ChengDu from the store. There are two findable along the way, one in Mian Shu Fortress and one earlier… perhaps Luo.
cabalpapa
ParticipantHu Zhen is technically already included… I have him in Guan Suo's spot to tell you of the Lightning Attack command.

ParticipantWell, about Ma Su: I admit to having a small mancrush on him, lol. It is a bit difficult to determine who would have been in Dong's employ later on because, well… he died! I could certainly stagnate his troops somewhere… not sure he'd be making the end party anyways. There are a few generals with Ji Rou… they are first kills whenever they are present. I will say this, though, Ji Rou is not in the hardest 2 battles of the area (Luo and ChengDu), so I'm content in leaving it in to make the other areas harder.
I agree about Wan Fu… it does become useful through Wu though.
Perhaps I can tweek Zuo Ci, as well… but you all really do have some very useful recruits coming! Ma Teng, Ma Chao, Du Yu, Deng Ai and Cao Pi (yes, Cao Pi!) are all in your future… all of whom level. Ma Teng might not last long, though… he's a bit too much on the An-Sha susceptable side.

ParticipantShu is a bit hard with all the generals having at least 188 defense. Again, I plan to make note of how the generals there have learned to make use of the natural defenses of the area. It was really the main challenge I added into Shu, and I think it makes it rather difficult. Most of the generals are intelligence based, and whacking at them isn't all that effective. Point of note you will like about Shu… due to the rearranging of generals, Zhang Ren will become recruitable after ChengDu… He went into my line up immediately (but he'll rotate out due to not leveling).
I have found so far that several generals seem to keep rotating in and out of the starting line up. I've been a bit sparing with who levels up and who doesn't, and added troop counts nicely to those who don't. It makes the decisions of who to play quite interesting.
Wei Pin might be Wen Pin… served Liu Biao until Cao Cao takes over northern JingZhou.
Fei Shi was, I believe, a lesser general in Liu Zheng's army. Fei Wei wasn't as prominent until Liu Bei came to town. I'll double check that, but I think that's right.
I find it interesting you used Guo Si… but then again, I recruited Ji Ling earlier.
Lu Bu getting hit with tactics, especially An Sha, is interesting. I had once mentioned making him un-AnSha-able, but that was before I forgot he'd be leaving before Wu. With as much as he is leaned upon in the earlier stages, I rather like that he is vulnerable in these stages before he leaves.
Li Ru will have to be changed. Though I will say that I tend to use him as my strategist until I get Zuo Ci. I'll do something with him, possibly giving him Cai Yong's strength and knocking Yong down a bit… I dunno.
Don't worry, you'll see Jia Xu again!
I rather like Ma Su… 190/190 ain't bad… I have a feeling he may be needed come ending time, but we'll see. Likely not. Yer in for some nice recruits through Shu and once Lu Bu and Li Ru leave. I'm interested in who you guys are using in your front 5 as you go through Shu.
cabalpapa
ParticipantLol… sadly, no

ParticipantI haven't gone through text and portraits. Commenting on them as of yet is a bit ahead of me. Yuan Shao will be in Luo Yang telling Dong how the coalition burned down Luo Yang and blamed it on him…
I may not change all the portraits between 'strategist' and 'warrior'. There could easily be scraggly looking warriors and such, lol. Kuai Yu currently has Xingdao Rong's portrait, and I like it that way in that case.
Chapter 3 is Yuan Shu (NanYang is difficult).
Chapter 4 is Yuan Shao (JiZhou is near impossible until you level a bit).
Chapter 5 is Liu Biao.
Chapter 6 is Shu like you've never seen it before… ChengDu is rough!
Chapter 7 is Wu, with all 3 Suns alive and well.
Chapter 8 is Liu Bei.
Chapter 9 is Sima Yi's new world order… I'm not sure if Luo Yang will even be beatable at this point… might need tweeking.
cabalpapa
ParticipantYuan Shao does indeed 'lead' the coalition, but as we are often reminded, never takes the front lines. Sun Jian was the one to break through Dong's line successfully in history.
Huangfu Song is recruitable, and I intend to make Chun Yuqiong and Lu Yi recruitable, as well. The fact they aren't is left over from Dong Min and Fen Chou (in those slots) not being able to in the original. I'll correct that.
Sun Ce won't be attacking… it'll be someone else. Or what I thought to do was have him fleeing the area from attacking you because Yuan Shu didn't give him food.
I'm going to have to make Li Ru and Lu Bu unbilletable… which might make me buff up Li Ru in some way to make him more playable in the starting cast. I wasn't aware of this fact (first time really working on a mod this heavily), so I did not anticipate this issue.
If you think those battles are hard, you are in for some real doozies soon.

ParticipantHmmm, I found an interesting 'bug'. I'm sure that someone has likely encountered this before, and it's not really a bug, but it was new to me. Since I had the initial two slots for ZF and GY be billetable, Li Ru was sitting on the bench come time for those two to head off to the castles in JingZhou after Shu. Instead of Li Ru going, it took the person in his place, which for me was Zuo Ci (Zhuge Liang). That kinda sucks… I could change that, obviously, by making LR non-billetable… hmmm, any suggestions?
cabalpapa
ParticipantI've noticed that neither Chun Yuqiong nor Lu Yi (both at ChangAn gate) are recruitable and I aim for them to be. That is leftover from those slots previously not being available in the original. I'll amke sure that gets corrected.
cabalpapa
ParticipantYeah, the text is still emerging. I am having a few issues with the DoaED and text editor writing over themselve sin the case of Tao Qian. His officer slot (in Shu) was given to Qiao Zhou. That'll get straightened out. I noticed the double capital myself. Again, I'll change that this coming week.
As for the officers… Part of them not being great is part of the challenge. Lu Bu is almost so essential (see the previous sentence) that I think he needs to be in the starting group… else that problem would be even greater. Li Ru's intelligence is higher than any strategist you'd have in the original version for quite some time, including if you recruited Li Ru himself. I think he's more than fine. Typically, I end up using him as my strategist (and am happy with him there) until I get Jia Xu.
As a side note, I've made everyone billetable (at least, I think I have). Part of my design stretches the common principals of party designing. Zhang Ji (obtained in ChangAn) has not so good stats… but I bet you use him! There is a reason Dong relied on Lu Bu so heavily… I feel the early stages of the game really personify this wonderfully.
Please keep adding feedback, though. Tweeks and changes can be made. I'm waiting for people to get to battles like NanYang (assuming they don't recruit Cao Cao as they won't be able to in the final version), JiZhou, and ChangSha. ChangAn is no walk in the park, either. I haven't gotten there yet, but the last battle may very well need to be toned down. I cut some troop totals down in anticipation of it being nuts.
cabalpapa
ParticipantI will be working on the text starting early next week. Not sure how long it will take me… depends on how my patience goes with it. Thanks! Please alert me of any mistakes you see, and read this thread for hints and changes still coming that will be used with the text changes!
cabalpapa
ParticipantYeah, and to help out in Shu, I have upped all the officer's defense. I'll make some note of it somewhere in story text noting how the officers of Shu have learned to use the terrain's natural defenses to their advantage. They are all 188 or better in that area for defense.
cabalpapa
ParticipantOk, folks. I have sent a new version to LYS that has the officer changes (names and stats) done through the entire game. I need to do a lot of work on portraits still, and all the text. In the current version, Cao Cao can still be grabbed with the gemsword, but that won't be in the final version. I'll keep adding some pics to the album listed in a prior post in this thread. Time to start playtesting for me! Hope any who try what is done so far enjoy!
cabalpapa
ParticipantThe version you have has officer changes through Shu. The change needs to be made for the Han Zhong effect, but nothing huge. I have Wu officers done on my end, and after a good bit of working it out on paper, am ready to input the rest of the generals. I'll send it to ya tonight (very shortly, really). Then to the matter of changing the text.
