Moderatoralthough the third was likely either from Emperor Ling selling offices or from bribing top eunuchs. In any case, he was too busy to assist Cao Cao, and when he retired, Zhang Kai assassinated Cao Song while he was heading back home.
It’s kind of what I thought.
You know what I just realized Atma? We don’t have a “War Fan” icon!!!!!!???

ModeratorWow! I just skimmed through everything. Destiny of an Emperor modding has progressed a whole heck of a lot since I was working on the Cao Cao mod. Some of this new stuff looks really cool.
What’s the plan for this mod? To modernize the Cao Cao mod I worked on in times past as we chatted about earlier? Or something else? I would love to see the mod I put so much work into being modernized and expanded, and made more balanced. I just made it too difficult for normal players.
I hope I didn’t make things too frustrating. We didn’t really have tools to do much aside from something to help with scripts and an earlier version of Destiny of an Editor, so there was a fair amount of by-hand editing involved. Some of what was done was never really documented, though it doesn’t look like the two of you have much trouble tracking them down.
Well, my plan is to go all-out with a total conversion, much like the Rise of Lu Bu 3.0, Rise of Ieyasu 2.0, or the latest Flames of Wu Mod or even the Yuan Shao mod. Give those a try and let me know what you like so we can get a feel of what to incorporate into this mod! While I will try and maintain some parts of the script, I will likely be making some modifications that add more ‘variety’ to the stock DOAE journey: Guan Yu’s aid to Cao Cao (now with a removal code!), Huang Gai’s betrayal, probably Zhou Fang’s betrayal as well but these sorts of things take work to make them believable… Going through and balancing it takes multiple playthroughs, but I already know from my own mods that things had to be toned down even from DOAE 2.0, this mod was just ridiculous but we’ll get it fixed, it was a true pioneer and is what got some people into DOAE modding in the first place. MiDKnighT is a master at code and has souped up some great work in the DOAE hacking world so I think we’ll pull something off nice with this collaboration.
However, since you know the history more than probably anyone around here (I’ve only watched the TV series once and seen a few movies) it would be helpful if you could check up every now and then for questions we might have, granted, in some cases we may have to improvise…
1st. question: Did Cao Song really hang around while Cao Cao hunted the turbans? That was my first thought…
2nd plan of acion: Keeping Cao Cao through the whole mod FLEXX
3rd arrangement: Killing off members of the party!
4th undertaking: Making this mod bug free :alien:Or rather, I should say, undocumented editing based on case-by-case research and advice from other modders. I might still have some of my documentation if it could be helpful.
It doesn’t look like there is much left to figure out, though?
Hey, long time no see over here @ lys :thumright: I wouldn’t say there isn’t anything left as I know there are a number of issues in my book:
1. Increasing the cost of recruiting officers after battles: although now that I think of it this one I think was discovered…. have to check the romhacking guide.
2. How the heck did you put Dian Wei instead of the Yuan Shu messenger in Chang An, when I tried it it broke the game. These “special instance” sprites have yet to be discovered since their X,Y placement isn’t ‘normal’, it’s probably in an array of some sort?
3. Accessing cave interiors and editing them
4. …and anything else you can think of!sonic.penguin
ModeratorBut the only way to deal with the Cao Cao mod now is to manually fix with DoaEditor (sorry).
I’m at a loss as to how the merchant shops got fooked too. If you see it happen again let me know. Maybe something is overwriting them.
Yeah, me too. I’ll let you know if that has trouble again, no worries :cactuar:
Any ideas on how to make all the weapon shops have 5 items for sale?

ModeratorNeed a link…

ModeratorSo Cao Cao gets Flail and dagger codes while Dun gets 53+Robe and Yuan gets 54+Robe ?
No, Cao Cao gets Flail/Robe, Xiahou Dun gets 53/Robe, and Xiahou Yuan gets 54/Robe.
This is mostly unique to the Cao Cao mod. Just open it up in DoaEditor and open up another mod at the same time in another window and copy and paste the appropriate text from a good mod over to Cao Cao mod in the appropriate text slots. That should fix it.
Yeah, I figured you would say that >_> At any rate, I don’t understand how the shops could be messed up because I haven’t done anything to shops. They must have been fussed with before.

ModeratorNew weapons, 53 for Xiahou Dun and 54 Xiahou Yuan so D3 and D4 respectively

ModeratorThe text thing might have been unique to the Cao Cao mod, I’ll have to try it on another mod. I take it you already fixed it? Are you still having a problem with pre-equipping? The code you need depends on which items you are pre-equipping. I know we’ve been down this road before so there’s a post somewhere on it.
No, I didn’t fix the text thing, I was editing at like 12:00am and had to go to work in the morning. I know that those text sections can be funny and I didn’t want to overflow something or put in the wrong wording. If you can copy paste me the hex for fixing that it would make my life easier.
The pre-equip code has a problem with this mod. It works fine on the other mods, and yes it is in the RH guide, however, I tried 3 different types copying the code:
Add 0×80 to the item ID to pre-equip it. But if you want the weapons pre-equipped your gonna have to add a bit of code to make that happen when the game starts. You can do this with:
0×35447: 4CC0B5EAEA
0x357D0: A90A8DF861A9018DC0608DC160A9028DC260A9148DB4608DB5604C3C94and it locks up upon starting a new game, just a black screen. Give it a try, maybe you’ll have different results.
Also DOAEditor had issues whenever browsing through the places tab as I was hoping to edit shop data with the new weapons that is going to have to be done… I wonder if all shops can be expanded to 8 weapons like Chang An because with the new weapon code

ModeratorYeah, I realized that last night. I posted that on the rh guide yesterday. A whole slew of text is messed up. I posted bugs of DOAEditor also on the DOAEditor thread. The AP on those guys is also insane for agility based attacks, people were getting one shotted almost without a second attack and the second/third attacked wiped out the party post-haste! Made some major changes last night, going to auto-start Xiahou bro’s with unique starter weapons, stronger than daggers, but not better than clubs and they’re unique to them, aka unpurchasable (curved sword “Jian” and Bow “short bow” along with sprite colors, soldier bars adjustments and tactic re-alignment: I must’ve been 1 value off because all tactics had to be fixed in the way they targeted.

ModeratorFound a major bug… I discovered this one when I used Ambush and the text borked up the game.
1.3 apparently overwrote the wrong section of text in the ROM. The whole bottom part of the games text bank (I think its #3) is all %@*^# up with duel text that wrote over the wrong areas and now the game will lock up if it has to reference those borked up text lines.1. Gonna need a restore to the original text
2. Gotta make sure the necessary duel text is in the right spots.January 16, 2014 at 11:10 pm in reply to: Destiny of an Emperor RH Guide ( MOVED! to http://doaerhguide.wikidot.com ) #53029sonic.penguin
ModeratorYep, that was it.
sonic.penguin
ModeratorJust tried playing and Xiahou Dun learns Musou (ambush), Cao Cao learns Negate and it displays properly in their profiles BUT when I go into a battle, the only tactic available is Negate for all officers…. Hmmm, I’m assuming the individualized tactic code is not active since it’s giving the tactics of the Strategist so I’ll give that a shot.

ModeratorThis happened when I tried editing the name of the last value in the profile section ‘Peasant’ to ‘Turban’

ModeratorOkay, I ran into a crash when using a “Non-1.3 patched” rom like Flames of Wu, however, the current “Hero of Chaos” mod loaded perfectly fine and functioned properly.
