I did finish a solo-Cecil FF4 run though. It was harder than I thought it would be.

Chapter 7 – Here We Come Rosa!
After you’ve done some exploring with your new airship, go to Toroia. Go get yourself some non-metal weapons and armor. You’ll thank me later, I promise. Now go to Toroia castle, and go to your left. There’s an injured patient here. *gasp* It’s Gilbert! Unfortunately, he’s injured…pretty badly. Gilbert blames himself for Anna’s death. Yang laments that he couldn’t save Rydia. Gilbert gives you the Echoer, which you will use against Dark Elf…eventually.
Leave Toroia and head north to a small forest area. We’re gonna get ourselves a black chocobo! They look blue though, so we’re gonna call them Blue Chocobos from now on ;). Catch one, and head a bit east to a cave. That’s the Dark Elf’s cave. Hang around though, since the tune rules :P
Next time: I’ll guide you through the Elf cave!

They see me throwin' fireballs out of my sword, they runnin'.I just started playing this again on a PSX emulator. Of course, I cheated and boosted Magus (Tir) to level 99. He wiped Kwanda out in one hit, and of course, I made Kwanda join me :P

They see me throwin' fireballs out of my sword, they runnin'.There’s no problem. The game takes a few extra seconds to tally the amount of EXP. If you’re using FCE Ultra, use the ~ button and speed it up. Takes a few seconds. Nothing wrong.

It’s the 64 items trick that is going to be a thorn in the side.
EDIT: How are you changing the stats? Hex editor?

They see me throwin' fireballs out of my sword, they runnin'.Well, you could edit the Zheng Letter stuff to get guys that could help you, but not totally overwhelm the opposition. You can however, eliminate the 64 items trick if you can. That’s the ultimate cheat. The Zheng Letter is just meant to help us get guys who don’t gain soldiers, and probably don’t have too much to last to the very end unless the player is really good.
Lu Bu can’t help you overwhelm the opposition, nor can Zhou Yu, Lu Meng, or Zhang Zhao :P
I’m no good at hacking stuff, but I can help you with some stats.

EDIT: I have a game genie code that lets you gain levels quickly to breeze through most of the game.
AESYUTPA – Increases levels after battle. *TURN IT OFF BEFORE YOU PRESS THE BUTTON TO GAIN LEVELS NORMALLY. Otherwise, you’ll get six-figure soldier counts, and that would make no sense :P*
