ParticipantI don’t live in the USA and I don’t have a particular team that I feel attached. I like football as a sport and follow the NFL closely.
Lord Yuan Shu, how painful is football in Minnesota last year? No Randy Moss, no Culpepper, football was difficult in Minnesota. The Vikings made a great run at the end of last season. But how well will they fair this season?

ParticipantCongratulations! You guys just tested the tricks that I heard before. These are the tricks in which I am going to test.
The 64 items trick has a lot of variations. Yes, it is 64 items, not levels. When you retrieve the 64th item, some of your generals may die. A powerful general called Liu Liu (in Chinese) will emerge. His statistics are like Guan Yu but with over 300000 soldiers apparently. I have never tested it. I hear it from some Chinese walkthroughs.
Do the levels of Zhou Yu and Lu Bu rise with other Liu Bei generals? With this trick, Zhang Lu becomes pretty much useless in my opinion.

ParticipantI just found a Gold Stone at Si Li Citadel. We can add it on the list.
But this is a very small consolation for my current failure in discovering the Zheng Zong Sabre, Li Guang Bow, and Qing Gang Sword. Lord Yuan Shu, you were very very lucky to have the Qing Gang Sword dropped for you. The probability is extremely low.
Samuel
ParticipantI am using saved states in my emulator, testing the groups of Wei generals that I mentioned in this thread. I hope to bring you good news as soon as possible.
In addition to Zheng Zong Sabre and Li Guang Bow, I would like to test Qing Gang Sword.
Since I have finished DOAE2 many times, I have turned my focus into testing multiple tricks. DOAE2 has several tricks that I have never tested. As a result, I have yet told all of you. If these tricks work, it will open up this game hundredfold more than duplicating items.
Samuel
ParticipantOne more item: Void Spear at Nan An Castle.
But I still cannot find the Zheng Zong Sabre and Li Guang Bow.
Samuel
ParticipantA Chinese website says that we can get a lot more. The enemy generals are divided among groups in terms of what they drop. The site tells me that a group of Wei’s advisors, including Guo Jia, Jia Xu, Xun Yu, Xun You, Chen Qun, Yang Xiu (the deadly tactician in Han Zhong), and Guo Yi, may drop the Li Guang Bow or Fortune Shield. However, the probability is very low.
This group of generals may drop a Zheng Zong Sabre. But I am still testing. I haven’t succeeded so far:
Sima Shi, Cao Zhang, Cao Zhi, Cao Zhen, Zhang Liao, Zhong Ye
Samuel
ParticipantThe following is a more revised list:
Steel Armour at Nan Jun
Thunder Sword at Han
Iron Helmet at Gui Yang
Steel Spear outside Wu Ling
Tactic Potion at the cape west of Wu Ling (where we first meet Gong Zhi)
Steel Armour at Xin Ye (after defeating Lu Bu)
Flame Armour at Fu Shui
Revive Potion at Xia Meng Citadel
Tactic Potion at Yang Ping Citadel
Tent at Nan Zheng Citadel
Tiger Axe at Han Zhong Castle
Tent at Ba Castle
Ice Spear at Ba Citadel
Silver Stone at the gate that Wang Kang and Lu Kai guard.
Flame Armour at Jian Ning Castle
Barrage Sword at Jiang Manor
Tiger Axe at the hut where Jiang Wan?s mother is captivated
War Scroll and Steel Helmet at Yin Ping Castle
Dragon Armour at Mian Zhu Citadel
Water Scroll and Doomsday Scroll at Luoyou Castle
Flame Bow at Cheng Du Castle
Emperor Sabre and Silver Stone at An Ding Castle
Barrage Sword and Great Armour at Tian Shui Castle
Sky Helmet at Chen Cang Castle
Gold Potion at Bei Yi Gate
Speed Shoes and Silver Stone at Xia Luo Village
Half Moon Bow and Gold Stone at Luo Castle
Barrage Sword at Qi Shan Citadel
Thunder Axe at Wu Zhang Gate
Fortune Shield and Power Stone at Chang An Castle
Sadly, the Zheng Zong Sabre and Li Guang Bow are still eluding me.
Samuel
ParticipantIndeed, I find some mistakes and missing pieces.
Luoyou (The one before Chengdu in Shu and I called it Luo Castle) has water and doomsday scrolls. It does not have fire scroll.
We can find the Sky Helmet at Chen Cang Castle.
Gu Ding Sabre (no use at that point unless we insert Guan Ping in the lineup) is a transliteration from the Chinese. The English name is Emperor Sabre. In addition to the Emperor Sabre, we can find a silver stone at An Ding.
More updates to follow. Besides, I am on a mission to discover the elusive Li Guang Bow and Zheng Zong Sabre.
Samuel
ParticipantHmm, Zhou Yu has 6365 soldiers in the NES DOAE. I am now absolutely sure that the Taiwanese PC version has a different level cap. Zhou Yu has over 20000 soldiers in the PC.
Samuel
ParticipantThanks TaiShi Ci. I did not notice your greetings until now.
Samuel
ParticipantThe second Yang Xiu is for sure Yang Qiu. Yang Qiu served under Ma Teng. After Cao Cao had murdered Ma Teng, Yang Qiu followed Cao Cao.
DOAE2 has many out of place generals, especially in the Wei stage. The only reason is that the entire Wei stage is made up. It is not real history. Cao Cao incorporates generals from the lords whom he defeated. He has people from Yuan Shao, Ma Teng, and Liu Biao.
By the way, Shen Pei does not appear in DOAE2. The Shen Pei who guards the ferry boats is a wrong translation. The accurate transliteration from Chinese is Xin Pi.
Samuel
ParticipantI don’t know why DOAE puts Gan Jiang (see "Generals’ Names" in DOAE2 threads) so late in Wei. But thanks for providing the English name for the historical version of ROTK, TaiShi Ci. Maybe I should call you Ci TaiShi now.
Samuel
ParticipantI can help a little bit, since I have played the Chinese version on PC.
Wang Gui/Zhou Chao/Yang Jin/Song Ren/Song Yong: none of them appears in the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms (ROTK). ROTK does not reflect the real history of the Three Kingdoms Period. Anyhow, the book which documents the real history (don’t know the title in English) does not list these guys.
Huo Hu: DOAE simply makes up this person. He did not exist in real history.
Liang Ji: He appears in the very first battle in DOAE2. He can be a low ranked general in Yuan Shu’s army. Chen Ji is a better known general.
Jiang Gan: He actually existed in real history. ROTK talked about him as an old friend of Zhou Yu. Jiang Gan served Cao Cao and tried to persuade Zhou Yu to surrender prior to Chi Bi. But Zhou Yu ended up exploiting him to trick Cao Cao into killing Cai Mao and Zhang Yun.
Tao Qian: I only know one Tao Qian, who ruled Xu Zhou. I don’t know this one in Shu.
Samuel
ParticipantYes, the battle against Xu You, Yan Liang, and Wen Chou at the gate where we rescue Zhao Yun’s sister should be listed. It is a mightily tough fight.
Based on your comments, it really looks to me that my Taiwanese PC version has a different level cap.
Samuel
ParticipantThanks for complimenting me as the "Lord of DOAE2". But I do not think that I deserve it, I find out secret information such as item duplication from other veterans playing the Chinese versions.
I am very impressed that Armyant wins the Nan Jun battle at level 15. Congratulations! Since you do not have any money, you can try to find a steel army hidden in Nan Jun. Use the "Check" command and search the castle. You should search the castle’s corners and spots where trees and objects surround on three sides. Once you discover the steel armour, DUPLICATE.
