ParticipantOk, will this make people happy? Huo Hu stays in his normal spot (I mean, he’s good with powder!) so you get him good and early, and for stats, I gave him those of Fa Zheng. That way, Fa Zheng is included where I wanted him to be kind of in spirit. Fa Zheng’s stats from DOAE2 were 110/205 with 75 agility, which makes Huo Hu a pretty good strategist early on with not terrible strength, though they’re definitely not Godly stats. However, I did give him an assload of HP- 1197, to be exact. All of this hp should for some time make him a surprisingly heavy hitter through the second and third portions of the game, which hopefully is appreciated by the player who loves Huo Hu (a.k.a. EVERYONE). Also, at my boy Zhang Lu’s request, I made Huo Hu red and white, like a mysterious crazy hp’ed tactical warrior of fiery justice. Oh, and if you ever decide to fire Huo Hu, watch out for him in the Xu Zhou area- he’ll come at you with 240 attack, 200 defense, 40,972 soldiers, and tactics as high as An Sha. Hey, it might make a fun little challenge provided you’re at least into the Wu region (anything less is suicide ). Also, I am putting an Evil Huo Hu in the place of Wang Lang in the Wei region (a general who neither appears in a boss battle nor can you recruit), and he will have some seriously kickass stats as well as a different color, so be sure to look out for him. Wow, I can’t believe I just got so excited about a few Huo Hu tweaks. Oh well, he’s worth it. How you like me now?

ParticipantActually, my good man, a "Seeds of Huo Hu" mod wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Yes, one where you take on the dreaded Huo Hu and his family. Although my immediate project is the DOAE2 mod, wouldn’t this be one hell of a sex-venture?

Oh, so that’s how it’s gotta be… But alright, I will figure out some way to include him. The only thing is that I’m kind of feeling weird about adding him in your party as a godly character and upsetting the balance. Would anyone here like it if I make him a godly boss character?
Oh, and for my man Hua Xiong as well as anyone else who wants the Destiny of an Emperor 1 and 2 nsfs, I uploaded them. Here’s the links:

Well, enjoy guys! I picked the files without sound effects, and if you want to hear that unused DOAE2 track, it’s track 14. Sounds like it could have been the final boss tune. Yes? No? Anyone?

ParticipantOh, Xu Shu’s spot… I currently have Pang Tong in his slot, which makes Pang Tong only temporary, just like in 2 (also like in 2, he gains levels with your party). If you want, I could put Guan Xing in there, and leave Pang Tong in his normal spot. The tradeoff could maybe be having Pang Tong not gaining soldiers (some static hp amount), so that you won’t be using him in your active party later (since he dies in 2). Of course, if it’s desired by you guys, I could always just let him gain levels and actually be available for the rest of the game. As for Zhou Cang’s spot, I was going to give it to Lu Su (with the same static hp value of 1400 as in 2?). I feel like I must include his 235 intelligence because it was really cool having him in your party, plus you can still get the Fu Bing tp gain at level 12 if you have him in your party (it really bothered me how in some of the mods, some tp gain misses were unavoidable). And since Liu Bei only has 200 intelligence now, you can’t get it with him (not that you’d want to level to 12 that early on anyway). As for the other changes in generals who join your cause, Chen Deng replaces Mi Zhe, Zhou Cang fills Chen Deng’s spot, Liao Hua takes the place of Liu Feng, Meng Da replaces someone, Yi Ji replaces Huo Hu (sorry, Huo Hu!! :(), and Lei Tong replaces someone… I still need to iron out a few details with this, but know that all of these guys will gain soldiers at levelup just like in 2. By the way, I hope everyone here is ok with Cao Cao having Guan Xing’s avatar- it’s the one he was given in DOAE1 in the data, plus I think it most closely resembles him out of the avatars available. Chew on that, girls!

ParticipantWell golly gee! I’ve started work on my mod, and boy is it fun. Now I need to figure out exactly how to divide the chapters- it’s not like I know how to change text or do anything outside of editing officers, but I need to figure out which officers go in which section. The first portion of the game was a no-brainer- I replaced the three Yellow Turban leaders with Yuan Shao in for Zhang Jao (the leader and most balanced of the three), Yuan Yin in for Zhang Bao (the tactician), and Ji Ling in for Zhang Liang (the dumb brute). In keeping with DOAE2, they all have their DOAE2 stats, so right at the beginning you get to feel some physical pain with the sting of Yuan Shu’s 50 attack power (I’m keeping the original attack and defense stats all the same as DOAE 1) coupled with his 190 strength. As for the guys who join them, I guess I can randomly pick from the Yuan Shu cronies in DOAE2. Ok, so that’s scenario 1. Next, I have to figure out who replaces the Dong Zhuo gang for that part (maybe Yuan Shao? I know you don’t fight him in DOAE2, but it’s a fun way to include Yan Liang and Wen Chou with their beefy DOAE2 stats). Ah. Feel free to leave suggestions please. This will definitely take a while as I plan to replay DOAE2 to help me match up the sprites and portraits as best as I can to duplicate the DOAE2 look for everyone (yeah I know it’s obsessive, but I’m working on a quality mod here!). Ok, once again, ideas please ;).
P.S.
1) I was considering just leaving Lu Bu where he normally is.
2) I am a fan of that old tiger Huang Zhong (I just think he’s cool), and his 220 strength in DOAE2 wouldn’t translate fairly to DOAE1 since the bows aren’t exclusive to him anymore, nor are they as powerful in DOAE1 (landing both attacks with the bow often gave him a stronger attack than basically any other general, and a miss only resulted in 50% damage as opposed to NO damage). Therefore, I have decided to give him 245 strength. I think it more accurately reflects his true DOAE power, and I feel it was fair because I still held on from giving him the 255 strength I think he kind of deserves (Then he would just be too awesome). Hey, Guan Suo is still stronger with 250 strength. You don’t like my decision? You do? I look forward to your feedback and am willing to negotiate.
3) As with DOAE2, you will fight Cao Cao more than once (hmm, maybe chapter two should start with some of his guys?). Replacing the Wu officers will be his men, with fighting him for a final time being the Wu finale. Naturally, Si Ma Yi and his goons still round out the game, but these last battles will reflect those of DOAE2. NO chapter will escape the DOAE2 treatment.
4) In DOAE2, Guan Suo replaces Guan Xing. Since I don’t know of a way to make Guan Xing leave the party, would it be alright if Guan Suo just joins in the place of Guan Xing?
5) Zhang Bao is back to his super lame 90 intelligence (down from DOAE1’s 150!). You may want to consider not picking him up, as some players (myself included) have chosen to do when playing DOAE2.
6) Jesus loves you.

ParticipantI enjoy forum posting, but when it gets too spammy and silly, I tend to lose interest. Yeah, I know I can say some silly stuff (tasteful still imo), but I don’t consider myself a spammer. I guess nonsense wears itself out quickly due to the lack of substance. P.S. to show my commitment, I gave myself an avatar image. It’s Huang Zhong, and I think he’s a majestic, old spunky fellow with eyes that can pierce through your soul. He possesses the heart of a tiger, and at least in the games, he seems underappreciated. Then again, I don’t know much about actual Three Kingdoms history, so maybe I’m just a mindless fanboy here .

ParticipantI just sent a video to the Lord man of me beating the final two battles, and I think he found it amusing that I used the crossbow as a large part of my strategy (hey, when it finally the lonesome hit Si Ma Yi with my 255 treatised Jiang Wei, it took off over 4,000 men for the kill!). However, I also promised I’d do it soon without the crossbow (time to go tactics potion shopping- good thing I was so fiscally conservative throughout my journey). I still swear that others can do this too- a little patience, a little luck, and you’re BALLIN’. Pics soon to come!

ParticipantAh, ULTIMATE HAPPINESS!! I just beat DOAE2 on the lowest possible level, and I’m so elated. Words can’t begin to describe the joy i feel. I’m a little lazy now, so I’ll post with the details shortly :)

ParticipantWell, more progress is being made. I just beat Xiahou Yuan, and boy it sure was tough (but I still swear that a few of the earliest battles were tougher). No cheating of any kind, which kills me since I normally enjoy abusing the item duplication feature (never did try the Zheng Letter or 64 item tricks). I was also at level 30 when facing his army. I forget who the strategist was, but he had 225 int. and was a real potential pain with his Ji Mians, An Shas and Hou Shens (at this point, a single Hou Shen can one-hit KO any party member, and even a multi-targeted one likely kills each person it hits, i.e. instant death to 3 or 4). What saved the day for me was using the Heng Fang tactic, which put the top and bottom guys in the back, with the middle three in the front. Ma Chao was top and Guan Xing was bottom, so they were mainly used for healing all the party, with Guan Xing occasionally busting out a Yan Re or Yi Xin to Xiahou Yuan (or once he was gone, to the next most powerful guy). In the middle, I had, in the following order, Mr. 255 Attack Power Zhang Fei, Wei Yan (his Tiger Ax was 150 atp when every other guy at that point only had a 120 ATP weapon). To be honest, the only reason I picked the order I did is that when I play DOAE or DOAE2 (or any RPG for that matter), I basically always order my guys from greatest max hp to least, top to bottom. Zhuge Liang was my strategist, nothing too surprising there I guess. I actually used 3 tactics potions since my guys were healing almost every round. Well, I just entered Wei and now I am up to the Cao cousins that precede the fight with Jiang Wei. While I don’t think it will be too terrible, I wonder if I am able to skip either of the two castle battles that I am to face before Jiang Wei. So far, I’ve fought no random battles, and I managed to only avoid two boss fights. The first is the one where Guan Yu gives the Hu Ban letter to avoid a fiery ambush, and the second was Ba Castle. I simply skipped over the castle and continued on to Ba Citadel. Then, once I conquered Chengdu for the right to rule Shu, I was able to visit the town, and, for the heck of it, pick up Yan Yan (just like it said in LYS’s guide). However, I do know of one opportunity to skip a battle that I just couldn’t take. It was at Yi Ling Castle- skipping the battle makes the following one only winnable with tactics, and my part was just too weak to do it, despite several tries. I mean, how can we win a battle with purely tactics with low tp, no tactics potions available yet, and the weakest tactics in the game? And let’s not forget there’s now a 4th warlord being there for having not beaten him back in Yi Ling Castle! Regardless, I doubt it will change the overall level, though winning it sure would have been nice. Well, I’ve rambled enough here, but boy am I pumped to win this.
P.S. Since many battles were so long and frustrating, coupled with the general slow pace of the game, I actually used my emulator’s fast-forward/throttle feature (TAB button for VirtuaNES) for most of the game. It will save your sanity in dungeon areas and really hard boss battles! Oh, and remember to use save states often (but never in battles- that would be cheating!).

ParticipantHey, no one is showing any interest! Damn you all! Kidding, of course, but anyways, I was messing around with Destiny of an Editor when it occurred to me that I don’t really know how to use it. Would anyone be so kind as to work with me and show me the ropes so that maybe one day this hack can become more than just a wet dream? My AIM is babyfacecraig85, my MSN is craigcougar@msn.com, my yahoo is CraigLovesNintendo, and my shoe size is roughly 8.5. Whoops, TMI!
