ModeratorFirst were likely Cao Cao and then Chen Gong. XD
But since they probably don’t count, Xun Yu joined in 191; his recommendations included Xi Zhicai, Xun You, Chen Qun, Zhong Yao, Guo Jia, and Sima Yi.

ModeratorMeh, my mind’s still not running at 100%.
Don’t worry, I’ll get over the flu soon enough. Just don’t ask me to invade russia during the winter!

ModeratorAnd if someone for some bizarre reason does NOT want an expanded game? XD

ModeratorMid, mid, mid…
You just said there aren’t many graphics, right? So just put in buttons to swap (visually only) to different tilesets. You saw for yourself what happens if you give a city some cave graphics! XD
Then, you can keep track of the last tileset used for each viewed map, and save a file for that when you output to game (so, for example, putting map differences in jinxuan.nes will also create a jinxuan.extra or something), and that’ll keep track of the last-used (and, presumably correct) graphics for each map.

ModeratorYou know, there are a lot of gaps around the edges of china where nothing exists, neither plains nor mountains nor water nor (etc.)
…is it possible those tiles are at least some of the cities/caves/etc.?

ModeratorWell, let me rephrase that: how much progress have we made towards city & cave maps? Non-expanded DoaE’s 00080-087FF looks it has some 16×16 and 32×32 maps — which would be 32×32 and 64×64 maps if they still use the 2×2 tiling they do for the overworld.
…also it wouldn’t surprise me if the area maps are right next to the overworld maps in the game, and since we (or, rather, some of you) know where the overworld maps are…

Moderator…Out of curiosity, how much progress have we made towards editing the maps of cities, and caves?

ModeratorIn the novel, Han Sui lost his hand to Ma Chao, and promptly joined wei.
Historically, he either died of old age (he *was* over 70) or was murdered by one of his followers. In either case, his followers brought his head to Cao Cao, and their surrender was accepted.

ModeratorI should point out that *3.5 scaling is silly; you should go with *3 scaling or *4 scaling.

ModeratorDamage calculator would help with balancing.
Troops calculator (for those who gain troops each level) would as well.
EDIT: A change to the troop gain formula may also help. The later provinces are longer (so the Wu/Wei equivalents are around longer), so a formula change would also help. Maybe something like this:
Newsoldiers = Previoussoldiers + (previoussoldiers*gainvalue/256) + (level*10)
Other soldiers suggestions:
* Change the divisor from 256 to 512 or even 1024; then we have better control over soldier raises (so if, say, a gainvalue of 28 was too low but 29 too high, now we could essentially do 28.5, or even 28.25 or 28.75).
* Instead of having a new gainvalue every 10 levels, have them every 5 levels or even every single level. We’ve got LOTS of blank space, so we can go all out and make 256 soldier levelling formulas instead of merely 25.-

Start a new FFMQ game, use the code 7E10A140 to perma-petrify your ally.
It’ll stop being easy VERY quickly.

ModeratorTechnically, they DID invent war fans… but not for centuries, and in Japan.
Takeda Shingen (1521-1573) is often shown using a war fan, because he DID use a fan in combat…. but not willingly. In the fourth Kawanakajima battle, Uesugi Kenshin’s charge actually involved him entering Shingen’s tent, and the fan was the only thing Shingen could grab in time to deflect Kenshin’s attack.
Of course, games aren’t always 100% accurate to history, especially if you’re SHOOTING LASERS FROM A FAN SEVENTEEN CENTURIES EARLY! :/
