ModeratorI played it briefly in a shady arcade someplace in Kobe. I was like "Whoa, Three Kingdoms!" and my friends just said "There he goes again…" and went off to play Gundam ZX. :(
So I just played it a bit. Bit too much like Final Fight for my tastes; as I recall it was a brawler but you didn’t have weapons. I think you could pick up swords, but they’re only temporary. Just feels awkward for 3K. I would’ve thought they’d go for a more Knights of the Round feel.
I know Capcom has made some more recent (PSX) Three Kingdoms games, but I never got a chance to pick them up. The one I saw the most of was $70 or so, and that was a bit much for me. It could’ve been a port of Knights of Valor, but I didn’t look to closely.

ModeratorBattle? How about item buying? (unless you have the PSX or GBA remake…)
Actually you can change the speed of battle on the title screen on the NES version. If you set the battle speed to the highest setting it goes faster than most new RPGs :)
Yeah, they remade it and FF2j for PSP. It looks really good but I wonder if they added anything worthwhile.
Oh, and what happened to Dragon Quest VIII? :P

ModeratorWhen they ask if you want to wake him up, hit A on "No" and then wait – don’t do anything, don’t push any buttons – for about 10 seconds. He will wake up.

ModeratorMitsuteru Yokoyama? That’s neat, since he’s the artist of the most popular Three Kingdoms manga. Thanks for that tidbit :)
How do you get new cards in the DS game?
Niahak
ModeratorI don’t remember whether you can buy mermaid scales or not, but I don’t recall having too much trouble getting a whole lot of them…
I think most fish-type creatures drop them later in the game. If I can remember any more details, I’ll get back to you on this one.

ModeratorYou can get a couple of sealing sunspheres at the same shop earlier. It’s the materials shop that’s closest to the Insectron stadium entrance.
Niahak
ModeratorThere isn’t any way to do that.
Sealing Sunspheres you can buy infinity of in a shop on Zerard by the last chapter.
As I recall, the Revelation items you can’t buy infinity of by the end of the game are:
Dark Music Boxes
Dragon King Skulls
Alluring Lamps
Holy Rods
Lucky Clovers
Galactic Compasses

ModeratorYeah, the Libra King’s sword isn’t worth it, because it levels up crappily and has its own path regardless of combinations.
Once you have the Earthshaker, there’s no reason to bother leveling up Jaster’s stuff anymore. It’s kinda sad that the second weapon you get combines to the best sword until the postgame…
I don’t remember what the highest level weapon for all the other characters is. I think it might be 49? Once you get the swords for Zegram that have giant mouths on them you’re good :P

ModeratorIs this the other anime that was described on Kongming.net for a while? I can’t seem to find the page for RTK animes anymore… but it’s not the same as Sangokushi (Mitsuteru’s) so it could be.
There are DVD ripping programs out there but I’m afraid I don’t know of any particularly good ones.

ModeratorPretty close, yeah. There are loads of yellow turbans, lesser guys like Sun Qian, etc, etc.
The stats I’ve seen so far are pretty fair, actually, all things considered, but I haven’t seen a lot.
You can look up the cards here.
The listings are in order of:
Wei, Shu, Wu, Dong Zhuo, Yuan family, Other.
Yuan Shu is listed first for Yuans, unfortunately he is 1/4. Even Shao is better.
Lots of made-up characters too, such as (apparently) a daughter of Dong Zhuo.

ModeratorI saw it in Japan, and thought about buying some cards, but they were just too expensive (sure, Cheng Pu’s good in the game, but I’m not paying $11 for just one general!)… plus you have to pay to play, too. It’s like Warhammer 40k: if you have the money, it could be fun…
The DS version could be more interesting, though, especially if it has a multiplayer as nicely done as the arcade.
I think Sega’s coming out with SGST 2 arcade in Japan before too long, if they haven’t already.

ModeratorSengoku Basara is the cool-looking game that was brought over stateside as the generic action game Devil Kings…
I doubt we’d get the real version of the game, unfortunately. But it would be cool.
Niahak
ModeratorIt did, it used to be a much larger image… and now it’s just the powder man himself, looking ready to… uh… powder something.

ModeratorThis one I scanned out of the WA ACF manga I have. I’ve been meaning to translate the few strips I scanned and post them up on my site for the last… uh… three months. Or so.
The other one I had before I scanned out of the WA ACF artbook. I have a goodly amount of pictures I scanned out of that, and access to pretty much all the other good ones. If you want any of the pictures, let me know.

ModeratorZhuge’s is ZGL’s from RTK10, I believe.
