ModeratorHappy Birthday!
…Now you get to participate in elections! And smoke legally! And get drafted!
No drinking, though.

ModeratorI’m still around, I just don’t post when other people don’t.

ModeratorDoes K3 have the Japanese voiceovers as an option? My roommate has an unreliable swapdisc, so I’m reluctant to try anything from Japan. If K3 has the original voices as an option, though, that’d only speed up my plans to get it :)

ModeratorI don’t think you can use the Matilda glitch after leaving Matilda, actually. If you approach the gate the guards shoo you away. I don’t remember whyI tried to go there, maybe it was during one of the games I missed the 108.
Clive’s quest is definitely possible if you get 108. I did it once, by using the Matilda glitch early on to level up the main character so I could blaze through the rest of the battles. I tried it a second time more recently but wasn’t successful. You definitely need precise timing.

ModeratorAwesome! Great to hear. :-D

ModeratorTitus is a sissy, and probably the main reason why I never got into this game.
He’s such a sissy he’s almost an unbelievable character.
The more I see of the game, the more Jecht seems like Maddox.

ModeratorI didn’t particularly enjoy X, but I did like IX. Some things about X just seemed like a step backward, and there were too many fiddly little things to manage (particularly if you were in control of a city).
Did XI fix the problems with X (or for that matter, does it even have any features of X?)? I know it’s force-based again… How are the enemy AI and the battle system?
I may wait and see if the Wii version’s going to be released here in any case, but I do still want to hear about the game.

ModeratorI put in a couple from Castle Shikigami 2, Harvest Moon, Suikoden V and Lunar 2. Trying to get more from Shikigami, as it’s the most Engrish-ified game I’ve ever seen.
The only quote I can come up with at the moment is Yuan Shu’s.

I love it not because of the quote itself, but because it breaks an RPG tradition of unavoidable decisions. Far too long to enter into the competition.

ModeratorI’m glad to hear this. RTK console editions tend to suffer from an awkward interface, so the Wii is just about ideal since we won’t see a PC release in the near future.
The Wii is looking more and more tempting… and if I know Koei’s making stuff for it, then all the better.

ModeratorYep. Its special ability attacks all enemies for (what is effectively) 1x damage each character would do.
True Men becomes cheap in short order. You can use it against nearly any normal encounter and kill all enemies without any possible loss.
It also places all characters in the front row, so it might be good for all-physical parties.

ModeratorSome strategists don’t have certain moves. Zhuge Liang doesn’t have An Sha at any level, while Zhou Yu (for example) probably has it by the time you reach him. You’d have to switch strategists to use An Sha.
I believe Zhuge Liang also gets a tactic that blocks enemy tactics, while other strategists have a tactic that blocks normal attacks instead.

ModeratorActually, this is probably the one worst "feature" of this game. There is no set way to free him and it appears to be random. You just have to keep trying to move into the gate (or going back and forth into it) and eventually he will be freed.

ModeratorSuiko V is good. I also enjoyed III. Sgt. Joe was a bit of a surprise, but once you get past the new duck and lizard races it’s pretty enjoyable.
I believe if you skip that guy’s slow-talking, he gets angry with you and refuses to join. I don’t know if you get a second chance.

ModeratorI’m not sure whether I can help you with the soldier thing, as that bit may be somewhat tricky. I assume you figured out how to change the soldier amounts in any given battle? And are you actually setting the soldier amounts to FFFF or some such?
/edit: Just noticed your post at romhacking.net. Those guys will get you going in the right direction much better than I can. I’m afraid I can’t help you with NES assembly any, but you may be able to figure out where it rounds down the values with a detailed hex editor search.

ModeratorNecromancers can use swords, I’ve seen melee mancers. Most of them use scythes or daggers, but a sufficiently long dagger might look like a sword, and poison dagger’s a nice skill.
I used to have all kinds of D2 characters themed after people from Three Kingdoms and Outlaws of the Marsh, but I haven’t played in many a month.
