ModeratorAnyone else tried one of these things? My roommate came back from break with one and it’s a lot of fun, even though we only have one remote (wiimote?) so far.
Niahak
ModeratorLooks good so far! I’m afraid I can’t help so much with art, but I’m around for moral support and proofreading if nothing else.

ModeratorSo yeah, I just finished the Mt Bur-Omisace stuff… and geez, there are a lot of sidequests now. I’m debating whether I want to try them (I completed every one I could do while Larsa was still around, since he could heal me for free)… since the last set were all really tough, even cheesing berserk, haste, and quickenings as much as I could.
Not to mention my roommate passed me up. He started playing last week and he’s already further than I am :P

ModeratorThat artstyle is the artwork of Yokoyama Mitsuteru – he wrote the "original" Three Kingdoms manga (there are a couple others) and, after some time, consented to make the anime IIRC.

ModeratorGuide updated again, up until Liu Bei’s assignment to Gogen (presumably Anxi) village. This only really has two cities but I added in item and weapon listings.
Niahak
ModeratorThe guide’s been updated up until the death of Zhang Jiao. I’ve also included some name fixes and stuff where I could, although I need to make sure it’s consistent.
James, in your starting guide, you call the castle Xuzhou when I’m pretty sure it’s Youzhou (the name fits better with Yusyuu and it’s also the province Luo Sang village is in in the beginning of the story).
Unfortunately I really can’t confirm any names for certain without figuring out the characters given for each city / province et cetera. I have the characters for some thanks to my TK manga, but I need to figure out how to sound them out in Chinese.
Niahak
ModeratorThey’d be spelled around the same in katakana, so the name probably has the same origin.

ModeratorAwesome work! It looks great. Good job on renaming the towns, too, I just haven’t opened my copy of Three Kingdoms in a few months (sad… but I plan to rectify it soon) so I didn’t remember in what order they might appear.
I plan to continue the walkthrough eventually, but it’s the weekend before Finals Week and work’s been piling up for a while. Most of my free time I’ve been spending unwinding with FFXII because it involves less thought. I’ll probably resurrect the walkthrough next week.
Or I might take a stab at hacking the actual ROM, some of the abbreviations you’ve been using give me some ideas about how to fix the issues that crop up with that.

ModeratorYeah, the Mist Chain is just using them consecutively in the same timeframe (i.e. before the timer runs out).
You pretty much have to get used to the system and keep trying it. If you get lucky and get mist charges during the timer, you can do a lot of damage.
Niahak
ModeratorWhen using a quickening, you can keep reshuffling and every once in a while you’ll get a "Mist Charge". That lets you recharge that character’s Quickening and re-perform it by hitting the button a second time (or charge another character if you re-rolled and got their charge).
I’ve had one character use their quickening 4 times in a row, and I think I got 8 between three characters once. At that point it does over 5000 damage and (after 3 quickenings) you start to get area-effect moves after all the quickenings go off that deal over 1000.
I killed the Tortoise thingy by using two quickening combos. Just used up quickening, got a 6-7 combo, switched in the other three characters and used theirs, it was deliciously cheap.

ModeratorStatus screen:
Values on lefthand are:
Power
Intelligence
Speed
Defense
0 value is Experience
Equipment Management:
Left of 10-10-10 is Liu Bei.
Above 10-10-10 are Power, Defense, Speed
Two entries in bottom right box seem to be "Stone" and "Jewel". If you select Special Equip you can choose between them but neither seems to do anything.
Item Shop:
Label above HP/SP is "Current Medicine Inventory". The HP/SP ones indicate restorative items of each type.
I haven’t had enough spare money to check and see what those others do, so I have to get further, I guess.
Equipment Shop:
Part below "Have" is Armor. I think these are general numbers of weapons and armor you have, not specific to a certain item type.
Battle Menu:
Title at top is "Soldiers". Once you get some soldiers on your side, this affects the "Soldiers’ Choice" item (which would probably be "Charge" – this is a battle between your soldiers and theirs, with no influence from generals). I’m not sure if the All-out label is correct as you need a strategist to actually use it…
Battle Sub-Menu:
Bottom left is Tactics, Top right is Items, Bottom right is actually Defend (I still don’t understand how damage is really determined).

ModeratorIt says "Wise Man" or "Sage". I have no idea why. It could refer to a class-like idea (Liu Bei’s type?) but I can’t change my leader yet so I can’t check.
I actually screwed up on ひさく (third down on the left)- I should’ve realized it says "Tactics" rather than "Status" from what it does. Sorry about that.

ModeratorHere are some translations, they help on a couple of them at least.
二虎競食 – This is the Rival Tigers trick – "Two Tigers Compete for Food."
敵臣調略 – This one I’m afraid doesn’t reveal much. "Enemy Officer Scheme" is just about how I’d translate it. Testing in game is probably better for this one.
君臣離間 – This one appears to be "Alienate". This translates to "Liege and Vassal Alienation".
And the last one is Cancel.

ModeratorMain menu, from top stuff down:
Very top, the top entry indicates your commanding general, the second indicates your strategist.
The two values in the mid top are Money and Soldiers.
The entries you can use in the menu are (top to bottom, left to right)
Commander
Equip
Status
Map
Items
Advice (? – haven’t gotten a strategist yet in my game)
Save
Settings
Gear Management:
(Top says "Which item to remove?" :P )
The categories are:
Weapon
Armor
Shield
Helmet
Special Equip.
Options: (top says "Game settings")
Message Speed (Slow, Normal, Fast)
Sound Setting (Sound On, No Sound)
Finish
I’m trying to translate some of the dialogue and little stuff in my guide, but I didn’t notice I completely forgot the menus…
Niahak
ModeratorI probably thought they were easy to reach because I built Balthier to be a Technick master and got Vaan accessory skills to use a few I’d picked up along the way.
