ModeratorYou need to conquer Eastern Wu First and Sun Ce must run his course as in history. Use a Seawing to travel to the Dan Yang territory.

Moderatorlest they wish to just play it for the hell of it.
Heh, well I wasn’t quite saying that you should totally fixate on our mods as I do think that there are other mods out there that really make an attempt to make the game “different” in a revolutionary way. For example, DOAE 2.0 while just vanilla DOAE makes extensive changes to officers and gameplay but ones like the “Lu Bu Mod” just changes a few characters and WAY overstats them to ridiculous levels which just seems lazy in my opinion for what that’s worth :P
I would probably make a section of Incomplete Mods and one with Complete Mods or something to that effect but you don’t want to turn people off to DOAE mods and not play any of the other mods out there because they are playing something that isn’t quite up to snuff. For example, playing the “lu bu mod” might give players all they need to see about modding and thus never even try the “Rise of Lu Bu Mod” even though it’s completely different but in the same category. :cactuar:

ModeratorI’ll take that as a “I’ve given up on it because I’m so busy trying to glean the secrets of the Flames of Wu mod”? :LiuBei:
sonic.penguin
ModeratorYeah, I think so too. The mods that are just changing a few characters, while good at the time they were made, seem to be distractors from the mods that people actually spent time on, like months or years. While it’s cool that someone replaced Liu Bei with a generic officer portrait of Liu Yao with no other major changes to the story, it just is not something that really holds up to todays DOAE hacking standards like the Yuan Shao mod for example.

ModeratorActually, I myself was wondering as to the status of this mod? What seems to be the hold up? Anything you need help with?

I’ll make it so you can off guys with individual events and you’d control the officer IDs.
Awesome, exactly what I was hoping for. Even just 5 events would be a way to break up an army and force players to consider alternative options. It’s been very challenging “forcing” players to remove people from the party because stock DOAE just kept the same people all game long. Why switch out Zhao Yun… ever, when Jin Xuan is your alternative? :P
Unless… for some reason you could AX him! Mwahahaha

ModeratorAgreed. You would have to add a new bank of officers and I also disagree on the chapter multiplier as that would affect ALL officers in the chapter and you may just want unique appearances and stats to specific officers that really were *stand out* officers, like giving Xu Chu 255 AC in chapter 3 >_> to make him a “duel only” battle but you wouldn’t want every officer and every fight like that. Not only would you need a bank switch, but you would also need room for names, stats, sprites, etc.

The way my code works is that you use it as an event. “So and so leaves your party [EVENT ####]“. Then once that event happens it removes the officer from your party if they are there, removes them from billeting, and sets their status to DEAD (ie…no longer part of the game).
Any way that this can be set as an [EVENT-1234] to be used within officer dialogue and have them leave the party via Xu Shu (down) or Cao Cao (exit screen left)?
sonic.penguin
ModeratorTrue, I guess you’re right about that, or even giving them static soldier counts, but that makes it “cheap” for some situations. For example in Flames of Wu, giving Taishi Ci a static soldier count was just a cheap way of billeting him instead of him dying.
What would be interesting would be to utilize the Lu Bu/Xu Zhe events to remove multiple people from the player party. For people like Dian Wei, Xiahou Yuan, Guo Jia etc that would need removal at certain points this would be the case, but having Jia Xu all game long in addition to Sima Yi and his club just makes it a smash fest for uber intelligence officers which I wish had more “removal” potential.

ModeratorThe biggest issue that I can already think of up front is how to get rid of people. There are only a few times in the game that you can dump old parts of your army “Liu Bei, Lu Bu Event, Shu Event”
sonic.penguin
ModeratorHmm. Hero of Chaos seems to be a go simply because it matches so easily with the original. Maybe it’ll just be a quickie mod :D
sonic.penguin
ModeratorI also don’t think the main forum page gets updated with the correct times/previous posts. Maybe I’m just looking at it wrong q_q
sonic.penguin
ModeratorWell, for some reason the europeanesque historical mods don’t really appeal to me. The Cao Cao mod is something I felt like undertaking now that the big buggies are worked out of all 3 of my mods so far. I felt that probably revamping it and/or completely redoing it would be the ideal. Cao Cao mod would be easy considering the original DOAE story actually follows most of Cao Cao’s conquest destinations.
The Jin idea is cool! Sima Yi and his sons trouncing the fruitcake known as Cao Shuang 3:) A Ma family one would kick ass, but they were pretty stagnant in terms of territory. A Jiang Wei one would be fun too (Start off with him serving Wei or Zhuge).
Yeah, the issue is having such a monster as Sima Yi the WHOLE game seems imbalancing unless I make troop counts super low for his army or just stack his force with a bunch of nublets…

ModeratorOut of curiosity, do you find Powder to be overpowdered? :P Even though I upped the TP cost, you can still put out 1500ish damage on a full army if each tactic connects which is WAY more than a warrior can do, granted, powder users are limited to Sun Quan/Zhou Yu early on.

ModeratorGlad to hear and see things are up and running. Is it just me though, or does it take longer for posts to actually post?…. AND i got an internal server error XD
