Thought this would be a nice screenshot… just barely snuck this one out… tough battle!

ParticipantThere are plenty of great options for late game. Gongsun Zan is actually a storyline guy in this. Fan Chou comes in Huo Hu's spot, but he now levels, so he'd be available for late game. 220/80 would get chewed up, though.

ParticipantThis right now gives a possible look at a final party including Zuo Ci, Jia Xu, Lu Bu, Li Ru, and someone else… perhaps Gongsun Zan or a recruited general, or even Cai Yong.
Jia, Zuo, and Li can do some pretty good tactics at that point, and Lu will obviously be a heavy hitter. Much to do to get to that point, however. The beginning game dynamics are amazing in my intial testing.

ParticipantOk all, I have sent a new version in to LYS. Hopefully, he will have it up soon. Even the couple of you who have played the initial version will want to go back to the beginning. Due to changing officers around, the dynamics have changed a good deal. I have changed a bunch of text, including some good old humor and a bunch of storyline.
I have encountered a couple text things I need to go back and fix. One line goes a character too far, and somehow the pre-battle taunt at Hu Lao Guan is now connected to the defeat taunt. The defeat taunt still triggers when you win, and no problem seems to exist, but its odd nonetheless. I'll have to figure out where the error is on that one.
As for changes, lets see if I can list them all here (I may forget a few):
– Li Ru and Lu Bu are no longer in the starting party. They come in after Shu.
– Cai Yong and Hua Xiong are bumped into the main roles. Hua's Str has been upped and he now levels.
– Fan Chou now levels
– Man Chong has been replaced with Niu Fu, and the stats switched.
– Lu Bu will be un-AnSha-able once he finally joins
– Jia Xu will return to the party at Jiang Wei's spot.
– Zuo Ci's Int upped to include Jin Xian
– Wang Yun and Zhong Yao replaced the roles previously occupied by Hua and Cai, neither levels.
– many texts have been changed up til about Luo castle… still working on the rest
– many portraits are still out of place, including ones that got misplaced due to recent changes
– Sima Yi's defense has been decreased to 200 from 244
– Guanqiu Jian has replaced Jia Xu at Chin Castle

ParticipantI think I have it fixed currently. But I won't really know until I go through and try it. Luckily, its relatively near the beginning!

ParticipantI've already got all the battles changed successfully and providing great challenge and stories well within the restraints of the DoaEd. More updates coming to it very soon. I have a bunch of testing to do, but also hoping for another round of others looking for things to.

ParticipantSo far I am down through the editor to the group of text starting with the Luo castle battle text. I do not have a corrupted file thus far, but am not doing any testing as I go through to see if it crashes or anything. Not sure if that type of error seems to happen. I am so far just trying to avoid having a corrupted file. So far so good in that regard.
I know I said I would send it in tonight, and perhaps I still will, but am enjoying making progress on the text so much that I feel like I can get it done very soon. Then I could send it in.
Midknight, after I get that done, if you wanted to do some portrait editing for me, that'd be great, or I could try and work through your explanation. I'm a fast learner, so maybe I could manage.

ParticipantHmmmm, maybe not. Perhaps it was the voiding of characters on the subsequent lines that the event likely pertains to. I was doing that to free up character space. Hmmm, i'll keep learning by trial and error here until someone can help me. The gemsword thing I would like to clear up.

ParticipantAlso, simply removing the event at Yuan Shu's defeat seems to corrupt the file. Didn't lose hardly any info from a prior successful save, so no harm done. Am I correct in this analysis?

ParticipantDoes anyone know how to turn off the gemsword recruitment event? I expected to see an event in the text, but I haven't located any yet. Is there some way, using the text editor, that I can get rid of that event? I've altered some of the text, but am hoping to remove some of the event completely. Any suggestions?

ParticipantI am almost through Chapter 2 for text editing. So far no corrupted files. My current method is working. I've also made some substantial changes to the version that is posted on here. LYS, I will probably email you a new file this evening that hosts a variety of officer changes, as discussed in this thread. Along with what text changes I have made thus far. I'm decently happy with some changes. Ma Yuan Yi now has a pretty hilarious quote after you beat him. Wang Yun has a family member as an NPC in the game. I'll get a lot of the text done this week.

ParticipantI haven't gotten much into the portrait changing at all, except for obvious ones from the editor. LYS, is there a general rule on how many characters fit into a line using the text editor? I've been keeping most of them short.
I'd still love to know what why I corrupted the previous file.
