ModeratorBump, I’ve been thinking about this game a bit lately and feel the need to rant a bit.
It was fun while I was playing it, but it’s one of those games where once you struggle through it you realize it’s not that great. Final Fantasy XII was the same way to me. You beat the game and it’s all "congrats, you finished two dozen fetch-quests and used a bit of strategy in battles… your reward is you never have to see Vaan/Dean’s face again".
I lay this at the following doorsteps (which are really just examples).
-They didn’t bother clarifying "Johnny Appleseed" until halfway through the game, even though it wasn’t important. In fact, they used it to refer to three different people and a brand of wine before you even found out what it meant.
-The Captain apparently had no point. He was a brief Deus Ex Machina, but his character seemed to consist of "See how badass I am? Now I’m gonna go back and rest, you kids do all the work".
-The end part made no damn sense.
There was, however, one cool part in the plot. Just after Mt. Chug-chug, when you go back to the village, the reaction of the villagers is just great. "You did what? You freed the men of the village from slavery? You little bastards!", it’s even relatively well-reasoned.

ModeratorThose are some cool stats.
I thought it was funny how lys.com gets 33% of the average amount of 55-64 visitors, but 60% of the average 65+ :)
It looks like you can sign up for this site and embed a little bit of javascript on the page to get more accurate results. They say they don’t have any at all for my site because it’s too small and I haven’t signed up.

ModeratorYeah, that was among the reasons I started PoR – the Wii game was a direct sequel.
This is the first FE I’ve played… how did the character development work in the older ones?

ModeratorStill liking the game. The more I play it, the more the plot seems like a decent Fantasy novel. Oh sure, it’d be cliched, but there aren’t that many games that would be good novels ;)
Good characterization for so many characters. My only disappointment is that you only get to know the characters you use, and only if you use them alongside certain others…
For example, I’ve used Zihark since I got him (since he’s a beast!), but since I haven’t used any laguz or Brom, I don’t get any backstory. Same case with Mia.

ModeratorXiaxiannu, welcome to the forum!
Here is the most information we have on Huo Hu, though without the PC-88 DoaE his true identity will be a mystery forever.

ModeratorMy brother got my copy for $14. You might be able to find a clueless enough Gamestop like he did :)

ModeratorYep, same overall idea. Probably different features – I haven’t played the GBA Fire Emblems (yet – a situation I shall remedy shortly). In the GC one you can "rescue" anyone of lower weight (which essentially has both occupying one square, with the rescuer taking all attacks but having a major penalty to attacking). It’s a really neat feature but I don’t know if it’d be in the GBA one.
I heard the GBA one does have really good 2d graphics, though.

ModeratorI dunno, when I tried to get back into it certain parts kept me from sticking with it…
The game is pretty grindy, even at the beginning you have to level up a ton.
Pressing X all the time gets old fast, and if you don’t then you have to level up that much more.
Samson’s curse was a cool idea, though.
I enjoyed it the first time around, but I think I’ve played too many better RPGs to be able to play it anymore – much like FF1 or Dragon Warrior 1.

ModeratorI was waffling on the -, actually.
I recall there being a Ricky (or Rickey?) in Langrisser 4, and his was in fact リッキー. But I suppose this is the same series where they rifled through a Japanese-to-German dictionary and plucked words at random to name character, so it’s not a great source.
Man, I should get back into that game. It’d be good practice. Need to hook up the ‘ol Saturn…

Moderatorリッキーさん、日本語が話せるのが知りませんでした!
私には もう 下手になっているそうですけど。。。
練習しなくてもいけません。

ModeratorI believe if you stay at an inn, Zunda will go away so you can do the quest later. You can do the quest once you’ve got elves in your group (not sure if Takamu can take you into Lunas after the first time).

ModeratorYeah, that’s something I should add to the editor to automagically do, but I’m not sure what the value should be if people *do* want 3-word names ;)
In the byte before the name of that character, enter FF instead of the value that’s there.

ModeratorIt’s coming to the US in February.
I noticed this when you posted it elsewhere, TF :P Quite nice.
Apparently this game is about a kind of nerdy guy who somehow obtains a lightsaber and decides to use it to become an assassin. I’m looking forward to the reviews, it could either be really good or really bad.
/edit: curses, beat to the punch by a minute.

ModeratorWhat exactly is Chris’ special scene, anyway?
I’ve tried both Hugo and Geddoe. Hugo seems to have a lot more reason to be the FC (since Geddoe seems to dislike crowds and True Lightning is more powerful anyway :D )… but I like Geddoe better as a character.
