ModeratorOkay, so I changed a line of text, outputted to the game, and it messes it up and makes it unable to get past the loading screen :S
SOooo, I reloaded a fresh new rom WITHOUT closing DOAEditor, and it did the SAME thing to the new rom, it corrupted it in a matter where the game crashes upon loading screens after the peach garden oath or a save game.
HOWEVER, I did close DOAEditor, opened a new one, did the EXACT changes that I did before as far as text (copy and paste from notepad) and outputted to the rom and it worked perfectly. It has got to be something that glitches when DOAEditor starts.
Also on another note, keep getting this error on occasion.
To fix this and make it work properly, I changed a period to an exclamation point… Wierd

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

ModeratorTook a hit, my ally died, then the battle went to the main map screen and my sprites disappeared, battle music stopped, and I could walk around the world map!
sonic.penguin
Moderatorokay, on stock DOAE, the rebels @ Cheng Yuan Zhi have 40,000 guys! lol, will test a battle w/ a tactic user in 1 min.
sonic.penguin
Moderatorone sec, let me try it on STOCK DOAE I wonder if its b/c Im using 2.0 version…
sonic.penguin
Moderatoryeah, enemies using tactics is totally breaking it…
sonic.penguin
ModeratorI reapplied the patch, will keep you posted… one sec
sonic.penguin
Moderatorerr…. something went wrong. LOL Whenever an enemy uses a tactic, this happens!
Sprites started walking backwards across the screen, it was amusing :D
Also, it appears that the tactic screen also doesnt extend down to the bottom of the screen.

Moderatorload me up your latest yuan shao mod. I want to test out these improvements together. based off variance in dmg due to new tactics and multi-hits, the damage output of 2.0 which im building off of will just slaughter players I think if I include these

ModeratorOnly issue I see is that "revive" will just give people one more reason to SS hack. By endgame your guys never really die unless they get An-Sha'd or you just never heal out of ignorance. Im finding it rather difficult finding a combination to balance 8 tactics. :retard:

Also, will an IPS patch REPLACE text changes/officer changes?

Moderatorsomething has caused me to lose lots of data for the last few days and I'm pretty sure it has to do with one of the following:
1. changing officers names which makes them too long in the text editor which corrupts the game. Any way that you can control the instances that the editor replaces all instances of a name with a changed name? Ie; changing Liu Bei to something else changes ALL instances in the text and corrupts the **** out of stuff if the new name is too long.
2.After more editing of just the text and with NO errors, just a ROM written successfully, it somehow corrupts the game and makes it unable to function properly when loading between screens. IE: game freezes after opening peach garden screen before Liu Beis schpeal about yellow scarves.

ModeratorMod is nearly complete! With MOST of the bugs gone other than the strange level up glitch, I would say that unless anyone had some last minute input that I will making a *Final* release shortly. The only thing I probably wont fix would be the long walk to Luo Yang from Xu Zhou.

ModeratorOnly problem is not being able to physically see the sprites makes it really hard to pick appropriate ones atm
sonic.penguin
ModeratorHehe, then maybe I can put in an IOU for those. To really get this mod moving I would need 2 things.
1. A way to extend names and accommodate them without running out of room due to name length. (I believe there is only room for so many additional characters in names also, I think there is even a counter in DOAEditor?)
2. Niahaks update for battle taunts which I use for story progressions and crazy one liners. Being able to select and pull from a text of my choice would be one of my choice updates atm. Stock DOAE only has so many places I can use for content and it takes a lot of messing with stuff I would rather not mess with to make a decent story without messing up the game IE: some stuff I did in the ROLB mod like move pointers for Hua Xiongs battle so I could use his unique taunt (since I didnt know how to select taunts at the time)
