KeymasterDang, that’s really cool however you slice it.
First decision – I like the idea of having it next to the general’s name but seems that could get messy in the event they have multiple things going on. At the same time, having the statuses light up at the bottom could be tricky because it could be hard to discern whether the status is affecting the group as a whole or just the user. Plus in this instance, you would only know what is affecting the user when it is their turn, whereas if the icon is next to their name it’s always clear. So I guess I would choose the first option of having it next to their name.
Second decision – I’d keep them all in the same order and just light them up when relevant. Just seems like over time, one would memorize where they all are and would make it easy to figure out based on location in addition to what the icon is.

Keymasterlol, this is the most activity we’ve had here in years! I’m loving seeing all the action here but yes of course always great to get more people interested. Though it is a niche game from 32 years ago so will take what we can get
I still need to give the Boneduke mod a good playthrough and also want to get a big organized page of all the DoaE mods to make things more accessible. Maybe someday when my kids get older I’ll have time to pick up my mods – kids are 2, 5 and 13 so will need some time haha.
Getting other music into DoaE1 would be mint – DoaE2 and RTK1 music would make the most sense but there are some good Dragon Warrior tunes that could work too. Still love the DoaE1 soundtrack though.

KeymasterThe crazy part about the DoaE2 stuff is back when I started this site in 2006, DoaE2 modding was already in place. A fellow by the name of Samuel came on here and gave us all sorts of tips and secrets like the Zheng Letter bug and the 64 items vault trick. But he also told us about the DoaE 2 Wei Mod and DoaE 2 Wu Mod – both I believe are in Japanese or Chinese.
Agreed that the high stats aren’t fun when everyone has them, which seems to be common with these overseas mods. But have to give credit where credit is due as these folks obviously put in a lot of time into these with the map changes, avatars, etc. Would love to have these guys show up here and chat it up and share their knowledge.
For my money I’ll still take the DoaE1 engine over DoaE2. Faster battling/walking/talking, visually looks better imo, like the music more, etc. Still love them both though.

KeymasterNice, some added elements with protections too. Good to see you back doing some more great things for the DoaE universe. Mislead2, Doubt2, etc – that just means those tactics work on all enemies at once?

KeymasterDo people still use Photobucket to host images? Gotta be some place like that to put pics up and then can link to them on here.

KeymasterNice to hear you are still doing work on some cool games. I played through that game a few times on Playstation actually, not realizing there was a SNES version until I saw my cousin playing it a bit later. I think the sprites and status screen looks slightly different than PSX though maybe that is mod changes.

KeymasterThanks for stopping in DragonAtma, glad to hear you are well. I still think of that Jin Xuan mod and all the potential it had.
Is it Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen, or some other version of OB?
What do you think about Kongming/The-Scholars? It’s almost been a year that it’s down, James must be really busy. I know they have a Discord channel and Discord is neat in it’s own way but it’s just not the same.

KeymasterMaking a DoaE mod is very hard and requires a lot of patience and determination! Hope you stick with it and don’t give up. Of course if you finish or would like to release a partial let me know and we can get it on the roms page.

KeymasterOuch. Always fun stuff. Have to make a lot of backups and even then you have to play-test a lot to make sure the saves don’t mess anything else up. Wonder if it was some of the hex edits you did. Either that or it seems like if you make a lot of text edits it can have implications, though MiDKnighT would know better than I (good to see you stopping in by the way).

KeymasterI just asked Sonic Penguin and he thinks that is about where the mod left off :(. Sorry about that.

KeymasterI could but would be better to fix access to the page as there are many other mods there. Try the link now, it should work. Changed the status of that board from “Hidden” to “Private”, so now only logged in users should see it.

KeymasterQuite the request – the classic Wu Mod from fallout. Not a lot changed on here other than the characters :). But there is something to be said for the simplicity of those old mods.
By the way we still have the Lordyuanshu mod page open. You have to be logged in to be able to see it. The Wu Mod is on here as are a bunch of others. I should get those Japanese ones you sent on there too.

KeymasterThanks for sending these over, I appreciate it! Wish I knew Japanese – I have the menus memorized but no idea what items I am getting from treasure chests or who the generals are (other than the obvious ones like Lu Bu, Diao Chan, Guan Yu, etc). Played the DoaE 2 Wang Yun mod for a bit – got wiped out in the field against some generals with 1700 soldiers (I’m at 200) and then the first boss fight is against Guan Yu – Zhang Fei – Liu Bei :).
Lu Bu looking mint – looks to be a custom avatar unless this is from a game I haven’t played
Diao Chan, what a babe
Welp, bout to get my ass whooped.
