ParticipantAccording to what many of Liu Biao's advisor's believed, relations with Yuan Shao were cooling, mainly due to Liu Biao's inaction during Guan Du. Promising to send reinforcements and then not sending a single man is not the way to keep alliances. Thus, even with a unified Yuan Family, e would have likely had seen too much aggression from the north, no matter who was leading the army (Yuan Shao was known to be a bit ambitious himself). As for his sons, Liu Cong met with the only decision that was apparent to him at the time (of course, he had trusted advisors only feeding him one option), and Liu Qi got a very short end of a very short stick.

ParticipantI made a very ultimate decision in this mod last night as to the end portions of this game that should be completely new compared to anything we have seen thus far. The bad side is that it is going to take more balancing and time than anything we have seen thus far in that department, lol…

ParticipantWell, the main point that Liu Biao did wrong, is that he thought he could effectively stay neutral and be left out of things. He misjudged Cao Cao's ambition (didn't everybody?), and thus waited so long that he was no longer able to challenge the threats from the North. He was also known to be a bit cautious and suspicious of his followers, and didn't hesitate to get rid of people if he suspected treachery. Mi Heng was sent to him and lasted what? About a week?

ParticipantDragon, while I appreciate your hand put suggestions, they kind of make me feel like you think I know nothing of the person/group I am making a mod about. I have a huge core of the info, and was just seeking some earlier info if it can be found. I appreciate you taking the time to help, though.
Sonic, thank you. That issue isn't at the top of my to do list, but it will eventually get there. I am going to have a lot of work in the next few days, so I anticipate a lot of mistakes, as well, lol.

ParticipantPerhaps someone could help me some with a little further research. I have done tons, but I am looking for some info on Liu Biao before and during the YT rebellion. If I could find some more specifics on that information, it would be wonderful. Thank you all in advance!
The progress is going slowly but carefully. I have an interesting playtesting method used for some of the small things I have started to implement, and have already made some balancing notes for later edits. My list of generals is populating well, and I have some very good chapters and fights already set up or in store. I hope I can find success in the areas of programming the gullwing locations (along with entrance and exit locations), portrait and sprite modifications, and switching around items/prices. I would also like to do some minor editing with tactics, but if I can figure out these other things, the tactics should be easy (seeing as I think I actually understood sonic/midknight's description of how to change those. Hopefully I can also figure out how to change city names and such. I know all this information is in the hacking guide… I just have to find it and understand it well enough to execute it. I'm pretty serious with this one, though!

ParticipantSonic, I am seeing some overlap between our impending mods, lol…
cabalpapa
ParticipantDo you really need that canal to be clogged? Changing the map around would seem to remove the necessity of that event. Does removal of that event create bugs?

ParticipantMaybe this mod will actually see some representation of Liu Yong, Wang Lang, Yan Baihu, the Shanyu Tribe, and Shi Xie. The part where Lu Meng ambushes Guan Yu would be an extremely fun area to highlight. Perhaps even Zhuge Dan (and how Wu influenced that rebellion) could be utilized. The amount of storylines are endless…

ParticipantAlrighty, this is now fully back underway. I had some other priorities that needed cleared up first, but this mod is now a full go once again. I am starting with all the things I know how to do, and will work from there. Thanks again all for all the info. I'm not sure if I can quite grasp all of it, but there is only one way to find out…

ParticipantSonic, in this case, however, Lu Bu is to be recruited by the Gemsword (Imperial Seal in LYS's game), not defeated… making him really difficult actually helps the game play, not detracts from it.
cabalpapa
ParticipantLYS, I have a suggestion about the Lu Bu thing in your game. As it stands now, that battle isn't really that hard, and Lu Bu isn't event he strongest/hardest part of that battle. Being that you would want the unsuspecting new player to figure out a way around Lu Bu so that he can later be recruited from that battle, I suggest you make him nearly impossible to defeat. Adding a huge attack power makes the battle hard to beat even when you do try to recruit him, so I suggest perhaps giving him a really high defense for that battle. That makes it clear that he is not to be beaten in the regular fashion (a higher troop count, just under 1000, might help too, to help prevent his death by Ye Huo), but instead have a catch to that battle. It would also make it slightly more realistic… As it stands now, it isn't even as hard of a battle as the one with Wang Guo and Ma Teng, and can simply be trudged right through in many cases (like I did the first time). This is counter productive to getting people to figure out yer tricky landscaping to find the way around, too. =)

Participantwell, that will help me some… my learning curve on hex editing appears to be steep… but I have the time and dedication, and general learning ability that I think I can figure this all out.

ParticipantI could have sworn I made a post on this thread, and it doesn't seem to be showing up… have we maxed out the number of responses able to be seen in this thread? I was asking if the Editor tool allows us to move warps around, because I don't see how to do that right now with the editor (Niahak mentioned that was a feature that was added). That would be tremendously helpful, and one less thing I would try to have to figure out how to edit using hex…

ParticipantLYS, i'm always favorable towards Zhong Yao, the imperial scholar, who stuck around even while DZ was there… would give another strategist type for the army to use)
cabalpapa
ParticipantSigh, so I already missed out on Lu Bu? Now I will probably have to restart it, lol. Sigh…
