ModeratorThought about that one too but waiting on adjusting that til you guys get further. The higher int. doesnt exactly make him godly in this mod. If it was a reduction, maybe around 170-180?
*Updated link as well*

ModeratorQuote:Unfortunately, you weren't here yet when I considered a sengoku mod.So reconsider :) Im figuring it should revolve around Ieyasu since he is pretty much there from beginning to end and is in or around most interesting battles.

ModeratorQuote:Re: 'cant let lu bu run free' — original plot and current is both to reign in yuan shu… but liu bei's text ignores the yuan shu factor and only mentions lu bu. which… you already have lu bu in your party or something ?Yeah, gonna have to fix that.
Quote:re: cao hong portrait, i've enjoyed some of the not quite shapened portraits so far… although most of them are well donegood to hear as it took a lot of time to create semi-decent looking ones that didnt look crappy and semi-cool, but this one actually has a wrong slice of portrait in it. Gonna update that shortly though.
Quote:btw: pangtong in the shu area is highly irritating (like he's supposed to be hehe)By the time you reach Cheng Du however, it should be more doable with upgraded tactics, at least that was the plan.
Quote:but i also found a second yan yan out and about, so i've got two yan yan's in my roster now.Hmm, I wonder how that happened lol. I just checked the rom and I only have one… Did you happen to beat the shortcut BEFORE going to Luo? Just wondering although I believe he is more than one fight around there… might have to adjust that.
Quote:the shortcut around iron mountain with ambush played out nicely as well. not too much, but enough to still require some planning. This was just to keep things interesting as I always found the "swordsmith quest" kind of dull and repetative for DOAE veterans.
Quote:perhaps the only semi-interesting complaint i have is lu bu's sky rocketed intelligence upon final join. i've yet to go through the rest of the game, but that seems a tad abusive. granted, it *is* the rise of lu bu!Here was the issue… if I left him stupid, it would nerf his balance endgame and make him useless. Like Xu Chu or Dian Wei, just fodder for AnSha and Tactic users. The dialogue does indicate upon his recruitment that he was "learning strategy at the house of Chen Gong" which I felt mike give a semi-logical reason to beef up his INT that was believable. Think his INT should be lower? Maybe after more of the mod you will decide, thats fine, it is changeable though.
Quote:Yes, it started with food, and yes I did reset immediately when it gave the free lvl up. Love me some 50+ lvls down the road heh.Figured most people would do this hehe, I laughed to myself when putting this one in.
Thanks for the info, will try and fix some of those bugs and will repost shortly.

ModeratorIf it keeps zeroing out, try turning off the "overwrite" option if it has one.
Quote:Unfortunately, I only grabbed the one portrait because nobody else was interested in Nobunaga's Ambition. If I get less lazy — and less occupied — I'll grab some more.But if it helps, 7EDC06 is the year change code; 54 (84) is 1560, 68 (104) is 1580, 7C (124) is 1600, 90 (144) is 1620, and A4 (164) is 1640.
I might be interested in this actually. A story like the "orochi" series would work with rom expansion or could follow the story of Nobunaga as I think of a few good betrayal moments :)

Moderator0064 in the hex editor will appear as 64 00 in a hex calculator. So you have to flip them from the calculator to input into the game. I was confused about your 2nd question as well as I am still trying to decipher MiDKnighTs confusing explanation on that Rom expansion. Maybe Niahak will be generous enough to include an "auto-expansion" option in his next update ehehehe

ModeratorQuote:In DZ's area, I ran across Cai Yong, but he wasn't in any gate/castle battles ? Oh, and when I restarted my game, it was time to chase down Yuan Shu…. but Liu Bei was saying we can't let Lu Bu run free. I understand what's going on due to prior experience, but it seems like a writing goof?I thought he was in the castle after Luo Yang, I'll have to check that one. If Liu Bei was saying that before fighting Yuan Shu, that was a typo q.q Unless he said it after you fought him in Nan Yang? I haven't gotten to test that yet.
Quote:Oh, and in the Oct 29th ver ya took away Hua Xoing's growing army (had just started to chase Yuan Shu and noted he wasn't growing anymore heh), kinda borked my party in doing so (easily recoverable tho with other generals).I dont think he ever had a growing army hehe, but Guan Ping should have one. Did you find Diao Chan?
Quote:Speaking of writing, been enjoying the humor :).Hehe, this probably takes longer than the rest of the changes, glad its working out to an extent.
Quote:The opening of the game was a nice improvement IMO. I actually had to buy food *gasp* hehe. Also learned Liu Bei shouldn't enter Wei hehehe. Some warning woulda been nice :).Ive scripted food to be auto-added to your party to eliminate the "same ol' start" of talking to Cui for food. He now has another addition but if you think of the possibilities once youre level 50 instead of being greedy…
Was trying to decide if a warning would be appropriate or a surprise, but I figured the surprise approach would remind players to revisit it later.
Quote:Dunno if I'll grind for Mistrust or if just try to take out the AnSha guy while Lu Bu is Doubt'd. I'm currently lvl 17, btw. That might be a good idea, someone in Yuan Shao territory should reinforce this as well.
Thanks for filling me in with detailed updates! As im finishing up with combing through the Yuan Shao mod, I'm trying to fix the bugs and errors simultaneously. FYI, Cao Hong will have a messed up portrait i think until I punch in the next update.

ModeratorAtma can you post some strips of the pics youve ripped from Nobunagas ambtion LOD as I am unsure of how to mass rip them from the game except for taking Screen shots and formatting each one. Save me the work of having to play to get Otani and Yukimura etc just to take a screen shot

ModeratorIs there a faster way to add 0's to the rom for expansion other than holding down the '0' key for hours on end. I tried to copy and paste but it just made 30's lol.

ModeratorJust think of how many hungry orphans youve fed with this latest release…. okay maybe not, but you've definitely made us happy :) Will be sure to test it for ya
Out of curiosity, is the "expanded rom" selection for expanding your rom automatically via the UI or just to export as an expanded rom? A one stop click to expand the rom would be a cool functionality as the margin of error is pretty high atm for manual expansion, I know I've tried and still cant get it…

ModeratorWould be like replacing Guo Jia with his son…

ModeratorFought a bunch of Wei battles with outdated armor, didn't seem to matter too much.
Gate before Guan du had lowbies as well. Yu Jins portrait is messed up as well, top half zhou tai, bottom half im guessing what you meant for him. I dont know a lot about Guan Du but I thought I would at least see the Xaihou bro's there in the battle. Maybe Guan Yu couldve had like 250ap or something to make it more like he was the butcher there.
Gates leading up to (what used to be Ru Nan) need some beefier generals possibly and even @ the main battle there they all are using Scorch or Flame q.q.
Behead essentially never fails vs. these guys either.
Liu Bei seems kind of underpowered compared to other generals that are acquired at this point as well.
Cao Cao/Hong scene was funny haha.

ModeratorJust finished Wu. Surprising battle in place of Lu Meng hehe, but the gate battles and pirate battles were just fodder for tactics once I picked up Zhou Yu/Zhang Zhao and Taishi Ci who has like 3x as many soldiers as the Yuan guys which made me dump most of them except Zhang He and Yuan Shang who is like as powerful as Zhao Yun hehe.
end-of Wu fight seemed like it would be rough but wound up going all out once the "bodyguards" were essentially gone. Having no Wan Fu made them drop pretty fast w/ the exception of the 252 int guy :)
Just my opinion, but giving an officer with barely 100 int tactics essentilly makes them a waste of an officer because
A. The tactics are weak and worthless
B. The tactics always miss your super-high-compared-to-their-dumbness people that they spend turn after turn wasting those uselss tactics on, especially in Wei.
For example, Yue Jin with Scorch defending a castle of Wei?

ModeratorQuote:Keep in mind that Cao Ang (Cao Cao's oldest son) and Dian Wei (Cao Cao's bodyguard) were killed in the same battle by one of those "worthless" Dong Zhuo offshoots. Furthermore, when Han Sui, Liu Yan, and Ma Teng formed an alliance to defeat Li Jue & GUo Ji, they defeated the alliance. As for Yuan Shao's sons, even with them fighting each other it took five years; while Guandu cost Yuan Shao many troops and several skilled officers, much like Chi Bi it in no way left his force hopeless. In the Battle of Liyang (Cao Cao vs Yuan Tan & Yuan Shang), for example, Cao Cao was forced to retreat, and only escaped safely because the Yuan brothers began to distrust each other.
So no, neither one was just a formality!
ROTK nerd ehehe, just kidding. I found it odd also that Dian Wei was found in Wei, but eliminating him kind of reduces the brawn no brains officers to just Xu Chu

ModeratorSo far I think Wu is turning out to be a little easier than Shu.
I liked the last line with the blasting powder guy hehe.
Sun Huan picture is messed up. The bottom/6th tile contains the top tile of another picture.
Crossbows are 50,000 and are 20AP less damage than Scimitars. I know they hit twice but…
Anyways, almost done with Wu ;)
sonic.penguin
ModeratorI thought it worked like Crits as well, but changing that I think might totally break characters that were of the "fighter" type unless you changed tactic success which I believe is attributed to officer INT in a way. So it's not exactly the same unless a low STR officer had their attacks repelled more than a high STR… which is not the case to my knowledge.
