ModeratorQuote:Whew, I finally got back. Okay, here's a few more observations from me about certain playable characters:Sun Shang: Am I really the only person who likes her a lot? 190 Int puts her out of consistent Behead range, which is important considering all of the Beheads coming at you after she joins. It also makes her more difficult to Terror, plus she doesn't automatically get hit by Flare/Phoenix, unlike every other warrior type. She has a high soldier count throughout the game, and she packs a hard-to-resist Terror herself – in the next two chapters after you get her, you face a bunch of high-Str, high-AP, low-Int guys, and you NEED that Terror to work. Basically, she's really defensive. Crossbows is icing on the cake. Whether it was intentional or not, I think it's awesome that you made a character who appears so mediocre so useful!
Glad someone finally realized this :)
Quote:Mr. Happy: Two uses of Behead will usually take out everyone vulnerable to it for only 40 TP. It's good, but not game-breaking, and it's fine on the other guy you get that has it. What's game-breaking is that he has 255 Str and Agi, and no weaknesses! Even if you make the end-game equipment less available, all the player has to do is give what he does have to this guy and he can still casually stroll through the last two areas. With Zeal, a Tiger Paw, and a Halberd, it doesn't matter how many enemies have Raise, his damage outpaces potential enemy recovery.I'd agree. From what I've heard, he is a bit overpowering. Will probably make him non-recruitable at this point.
Quote:The Guy in the House: I think he's totally balanced and a cool end-game reward, but he's overshadowed by Mr. Happy and the other guy with 255 stats in a house near the very end, both of whom have higher stats and higher soldiers. I still think that this guy – the original house man – should be the only 255/255 guy you can recruit. This will be easy to do.
Quote:Ling Tong: For a warrior-type, his Str and troop count are low. His Int is higher than Gan Ning and Ding Feng, but lower than every other warrior. And his Agi, while high, doesn't balance out his other stats. Why not give him something like a 245 Agi? That would at least guarantee that he'll go before most of the enemies, in addition to making him look better. It's not really a big deal, but I never thought that he was a viable choice compared to every other leveling general.I was thinking the same thing. I will probably reduce the agility of Gan Ning to make his beastly STR and soldier count more balanced with a lower agiliity. Ling Tong might get that agility bump or maybe a little higher INT
Quote:The guy who joins after Shu: Wow, he's great. Best Terror in the game, and he does everything else anyone would ever need for the rest of the game except use Raise and Focus for 3-6. I even won a few duels with him! Personally, he was one of my favorite things about this mod! Thanks for putting him in!I'm assuming you mean the guy w/ 170/210 stats? Yeah, I thought he would be a great neutral addition, but nothing TOO overpowering.
Quote:I know that's a lot of text, sorry about that ;) Thanks as always! No problem, it's what is going to make this better!=

ModeratorOkay… having an issue where the enemy is using life/raise on my guys…
3BB5C and 3BB5D are set to 01 so I don't know what the issue is…
Using patch 1.2 on ROLB

ModeratorQuote:DoaEditor to have a "large map" option for editing. Ie…a pop up that lets you edit 6 or so regions at the same time. That would be nice. It's always been hard to piece together multiple sections. Overlapping them would be good so you could see where mountain ranges and rivers connect.
Quote:hat said, the gullwing system is a bit confusing and I did get lost a bunch. This would be easier if somehow we could change the order of the gullwing list. Currently they are only updated in a rather random order, but there's nothing I can do when I'm pushing the map-editing envelope!
Quote:Oh, and the portraits are amazing!Good to hear :)
Quote:Sun Shang / xbows – i think i might have used her for that express purpose for a short while ? don't recall…That is how I tried to make her more useful.
Quote:Mr Happy / behead – hmmm I didn't get to use him for very long before the game locked up, but behead didn't seem to be an earth shattering game changer or anything. Possibly handy, yes… but not ZOMG. Although — being on the receiving end of the behead was not cool.I honestly never played through the game by recruiting him, probably should have, as I have no clue how unbalancing that makes this.
Quote:Dude in a house with a chick: bwahahaha. Glad I was able to throw a curve ball and beat it early ;). I don't recall getting anything interesting of a reward… but still, heh.The reward is being able to recruit him later….
Quote:The spoilers of upcoming 3 enemies with Raise and no 'thwart': are you just trying to piss off the player ? I'll have to hold judgement until I get to that point myself. If they got 'negate', then it might be rage worthy heh.I'm currently modifying FOW with the new updates being released. This is a balancing issue that I will likely fix in addition to some end-game items.
IN addition to all of this, I will be making a Ling Tong fix too so players don't get that garbled text upon recruiting him.

ModeratorQuote:Are you still having the mismatch list issues or did you fix that? You wouldn't happen to have a save state handy for that would you?It wasn't really an issue, I just wanted to know how I can modify the effect of the mismatch list. IE: If you are on the mismatch list you automatically get hacked to pieces and removed from the game 100% rather than just the standard defeat/stat gain.
The only *OTHER* issue I am having is the freezing of the game whenever the last guy goes first.
Quote:That pic looks amazing! What settings do you use to get your sprites that smooth?I use HQ 3X Video Setting in FCE Ultra 2.2.0

ModeratorPatch 1.2 part 2 still overwrites Item ID Tables for Bonus hits and TP Gain chances per level.

ModeratorNew updated 3.0 version coming soon with fully playable Lu Bu throughout!
Zhang Liao stands alone…

ModeratorSun Shang was a hard fit, especially since by that point you have officers that fit both extremes in terms of INT or STR but she is one of the few people you get that have X-bows
I still am going to fix Mr. Happy though. Probably so he doesn't have Behead.
Balancing is the hardest part and requires the most testing so weapons, tactics, and battles aren't so off kilter.
Quote:My fight with the guy in the house with a girl was probably the most 'unorthodox' style fight I've had to do in any doae. Some of the ROLB had similar fights towards the end with the servant girls or whatever they were called… but yeah.Which, I hope Sonic did at least watch that house fight in the twitch recordings ;) … it was a bit back and forth-ish, and was a fine demonstration of focus in heavy use heh. .
This one was made just for fun, I never thought anyone would win it early on, but more like a challenge battle to return to later in the game and laugh because you get smashed if you try it too early :P

ModeratorIsn't Zhuge Liang the "Sleeping Dragon" so shouldnt he be Dragon? j/w
Zhang Liao was known as the "Invincible General" so perhaps one of those terms.

Moderator1. Are all the updates/changes posted in this thread?
2. Were those changes only applied to patch 2? If so, ignore 1

ModeratorQuote:this state has humane laws where ya can't kill such things in the middle of winter, so bill grew to point they wanted a testicle heh…. and was caught flat footed when it happened :P.Taxes are really getting high arent they?
Quote:Overall, I thought it was VERY good…it was well balanced and fun, generally just hard enough to make me plan ahead for tough battles and agonize over party choices a few times, but not so hard that I felt battles were impossible without grinding or save states (like Ieyasu…). I loved how you used the "less is more" philosophy with officer stats; even with their poor stats, Zhou Fang was necessary for me at points, Sun Shang was one of my most used officers, and I used a spoiler character with a 210 as his highest stat in my active party for the entire game as my all-star. The story was also entertaining for me from beginning to end, and considering that Wu is my least favorite kingdom, it's pretty awesome that you were able to make me enjoy this so much.Glad I accomplished this. It is VERY hard to make a balanced mod ALL the way through. Glad the story made sense also w/ all the towns mixed up and map changes.
Quote:So for me, once you get access to Runan, the Jin section and the bonus section were much easier than almost everything else before them. I think it would've helped if the last cave did NOT have a Halberd, 2 Heaven M, and 2 Fear M in chests. That's 324500 gold of value for nothing – if that equipment wasn't there, or if there were at least less of it, then the player would acquire this ultimate equipment as he could afford it instead of all at once for free, and these last few areas wouldn't be such a cakewalk.Actually, I considered this but I actually rushed the bonus section of the game so I could get it released. This helps me a lot having you play test it thoroughly like this and I will likely make those changes w/ the updated release. I just found it to be almost impossible without adding ANY of those items but then again, I never recruited those end-guys to play test it either as I always had to restart the game whenever I made recruitment/encounter changes (it makes you do that).
Quote:Speaking of cakewalks, there is a particular character that can be acquired pretty easily at this point who just might have a very high troop count (that levels up!) and two stats at max, plus Behead. Maybe…that's a mistake. I certainly laughed and cheered about it, but this guy could Behead two enemies on the first turn sometimes, and then take out a 55k+ enemy with over 200 AC in one Zealed Carnage if he got enough extra attacks afterwords. And that happened a LOT.I think I know who this is but you'll have to detail me in so I know there wasn't a mistake. I don't believe I have a character than can have both Behead and Carnage though….
Quote:In the Jin section, after you fight Zhong Hui and enter his camp, there's a familiar face in town who gives you access to the bonus area, and now you can Seawing to Runan. Which of course sells the best equipment. Which makes the rest of the game a joke. Even without Halberds, with 3 Steeds and a few Heaven M and Fear H, the rest of the game's battles, including the last few in the bonus area, boiled down to this:The town that is 'formerly' Ru Nan or the one in my mod that I have replaced it with? That might be a mistake.
Quote:I have a few other comments; characters that I thought were underpowered, and even a few overpowered ones, and also some thoughts on TP costs (and no, I don't mean the 100 TP stuff), but I'll save that for later, I think I've typed enough for now.Let me know about this as I am currently modifying it.

ModeratorI'll double check since I didn't change anything, there might be leftovers from previous stuff that is modifying it. Benefits of testing out the new stuff is that I still have to manage the old

ModeratorSo in other words, the Tiger Generals arent set yet? Just make sure patch 2 doesn't overwrite TP lists, weapon names, costs, etc cause it's taking me forever to rechange everything to update the code
This is what I get w/ the current setup, I believe Sun Shang takes the place of Zhang Bao or Guan Xing, I forget,
but I'm having the same issue w/ Huang Gai and Cheng Pu ie: Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Maybe I just need to study how the code works a little more…
Are the 3 values after the name "Officer" which i'm assuming can be changed, where the officer ID goes or are there just 255 Officer profiles?
Again, I can't update the shops again until I have the most recent ID's for the new weapons/armors. All my shops are messed up :S
